13/07/2025: Espacio acristalado en el exterior del hotel, en la plaza, que resulta razonablemente cómodo. Había reservado con antelación nuestra primera noche en Varenna, ya que llegaríamos temprano por la tarde un sábado y queríamos estar seguro de conseguir una mesa. El servicio estuvo bien, al igual que la comida, excepto la lasaña, que fue decepcionante. En general está bien, pero hay muchas otras opciones una vez que hayas visitado Varenna.

25/06/2025: Amazing location, Right from the bar you can view the beautiful lake como and the mountains, They were so friendly to let me work with my laptop there! The staff was great, The drinks are amazing!

29/08/2025: Perhaps one of the best pizzas by the slice; the Margherita and Jolly2 are my favorites! You can also add baked potatoes, which are very good. The place also serves a restaurant, but I've always only gotten takeout. They're quick, and the pizza is very good. You can get both regular and large portions, and the prices are fair. Highly recommended!

02/09/2025: We went for lunch. Maybe we chose the wrong day, maybe dinner would be better. I don't know. The fact is, we found the cutlery dirty and the staff was too hasty, though still very, very kind. As for the kitchen menu on paper, I found it a bit sparse. There was no children's menu. We asked for pasta with tomato sauce for the kids and they told me that if the chef doesn't make pasta with tomato sauce for everyone that day, he won't make it. So, we settled for two delicious pizzas. We ordered gnocco fritto with cured meats. After a while, they told us that the gnocco fritto was sold out, and if we could have had a focaccia, they basically brought us a pizza without any toppings. So, as for the rest of the kitchen menu, there are very few starters, and if you want a risotto, you have to order it for two people. I ordered a full dish of the day, a first course, a second course, and a cover charge. Maybe I didn't understand, but I got a single dish, like a canteen dish. Aside from the daily menu, I find the food prices a bit high; a €15 first course is a bit too much. The desserts are delicious; I'll definitely be back, but only for pizza, which is very good.

01/09/2025: You can tell the owner/manager cares; despite it being a pub-style establishment, everyone is well-mannered and polite. The food is good, and the prices are definitely average.

24/08/2025: Typical Italian incompetents who rely on The Fork for advertising and then don't know how to organize and manage reservations. They canceled my reservation 20 minutes before arrival, too bad we were already on our way. Once we got there, I asked for an explanation, and the guy, in a hasty and unprofessional manner, replied that "the dining room is full," as if to imply that customers without The Fork have priority. WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON THIS SITE IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO MANAGE RESERVATIONS? At least remove availability on weekends! And apologize when you do something like that! That's how you work!

07/09/2025: An evening to forget, I hope it's not like this every night. Very long waits, starting with the appetizers, disorganized dining room, with errors even in the waiters' communication (we were told the risotto was a minimum of two portions, and then it was served from a single tray that was taken away, and that there were no cakes for dessert, only to see them passed directly to other tables). The appetizers were decent, the mushroom risotto lacking the flavor of the mushrooms, the tordelli spoiled by too much pepper, the main courses were average except for the lemon scallops, which perhaps had too much lemon. The dining room was definitely noisy. The high bill, probably also due to the mushrooms, but considered excessive for tonight's experience. Hopefully it was just a bad night; for us, certainly, and unfortunately, we won't be returning.

01/09/2025: Amazing home cooking! Very cozy family atmosphere. They put food on your plate until you say "enough", and you can ask for more! Wine is not served by the glass - only the whole bottle (as I understand it, this is a house wine with no name). Very reasonable prices for such authenticity and coziness. I highly recommend this place. We go there ourselves with the whole family. Thank you!

12/07/2025: Nous étions à l’hôtel tout proche et le restaurant nous a été recommandé par la réceptionniste ! Nous n’avons pas été déçus ! Excellent accueil, une carte mi terre, mi mer … C’est absolument délicieux ! Pâtes à la lotte et tomates inoubliables, tagliata de bœuf hyper copieux, cuisson parfaite de la viande, sauce délicieuse… Desserts très très bons également, tiramisu ou tarte chocolat poire et sa glace vanille d’une onctuosité rarement vue ! Le tout pour une addition très raisonnable !

29/07/2025: Tried it for Sunday lunch for the first time, after having passed it many times, being local. Built in the time of Ludovico il Moro, the restaurant is ancient and features characteristic interiors and a shaded and well-kept garden. Three waiters in house uniform. The welcome was "brief," with tables available only outside, but it made an excellent initial impression that generated great anticipation. The menu offered a limited selection, with some local specialties. The table setting was set on a white tablecloth with silver cutlery (and some details could be improved: a chipped handle, different sizes for serving knives and appetizer forks). The metal table and chairs made it difficult to position our legs properly (due to a metal ring at knee height), making them uncomfortable. We had to wait a bit before being served, but we felt that more attention was paid to regular customers/reserved guests, who arrived later and were served first. After perusing the menu and some dishes served at other tables, two of us sampled: 1 appetizer of cold cuts (a few slices of prosciutto, two slices of pancetta, and three types of salami, two slices of each) and cheeses with polenta (one piece of zola and one piece of perhaps goat ricotta; we weren't told what cheese it was), 1 appetizer of Russian salad, 1 sliced beef with arugula and parmesan, 1 Milanese-style cutlet with baked potatoes, 1 sparkling water (house-made), 2 homemade tiramisu (served "on the plate," one of which was plated in two slices/spoonfuls, rather than a full portion). Cover charge for two (€4 each): 5 slices of "michetta" (about 1 sandwich) and 6 breadsticks (packaged). We sold out by the time we started the appetizer and replenished practically by the end of the main course. The portions were carefully "exact" (though to our acquaintances, they seemed larger), and the food and flavor were average, but we weren't thrilled. Bill: €107. Overall, our impressions: - the feeling that everything is carefully measured (perhaps even too much); - the strong point is the very special location; - the range, presentation, and emphasis on Brianza's specialties could be improved; - the service and value for money could be improved. In conclusion: a nice place, which didn't meet our expectations, has potential for improvement, and is worth a visit for its historic and unique character (which doesn't justify the price). You can eat traditional food, better and for less, at other nearby places (there are historic ones in Besana and Casatenovo). For now, we won't be returning, waiting for the owners to capitalize on the many reviews like ours.

28/07/2025: L'ambientazione è meravigliosa, il cibo è sufficiente, ma non eccezionale e i prezzi sono totalmente sproporzionati rispetto al cibo servito: anche piatti poveri come l'insalata russa e la torta paesana costano rispettivamente 10€ e 8€ (per una piccolissima fetta). Solitamente pago volentieri così tanto se c'è una cura nell'impiattamento, qualche abbinamento o salsa particolari, o ingredienti con una qualità o provenienza specifica. Qui invece, il minimalismo assoluto, che fa storcere il naso una volta appreso il conto. Ho trovato una clientela formale e pettinata, dei camerieri gentili e una signora in cassa non adatta all'interazione con il pubblico. Il posto avrebbe un enorme potenziale e potrebbe rendere maggiore giustizia alla tradizione lombarda. Ecco i consigli che do al locale per migliorare: - se volete mantenere l'attuale qualità del cibo, dimezzate i prezzi - se volete mantenere i prezzi attuali, migliorate la ricerca delle materie prime, la tecnica, l'inventiva in cucina e la cura nell'impiattamento - nel menù descrivete meglio i vostri piatti, la provenienza delle materie prime e sottolineate i piatti che vi riescono meglio - se dichiarate qualcosa nel menù, come la presenza di rucola nella tagliata, poi mettetela per davvero - tenetevi stretti i camerieri e assumete del personale più estroverso in cassa.

20/07/2025: Want to eat out and feel at home? This is the place. Everything you eat is prepared with care and skill by the kitchen staff. Then it's served by the very kind Mirko. I had an appetizer, a first course, and delicious meatballs in tomato sauce. The price??? Go there and you'll understand.

26/08/2025: Given the reviews, we expected something more. The sciatt were good, and the pizzoccheri were almost tasteless, all you could taste was a lot of pepper. It was my first time eating them, and I expected an explosion of flavor, which I didn't get. The seafood salad and linguine allo scoglio were average.
