05/12/2025: Focacceria Il Frantoio is kind of hiding: tucked in a narrow alley off the main drag, but you’ll smell that fresh-baked focaccia the moment you walk nearby. Even if you don’t see the sign, follow your nose. Inside the little place, there are only a handful of tables, so most people grab a slice and go. They do those classic Ligurian-style focacce: some round like pizzas (but no sauce) and some square or rectangular slabs. The difference is more than shape, focaccia isn’t pizza. It uses dough with more leavening, so it stays thicker, softer, and airier than typical pizza crust, and it gets dimpled and drenched in olive oil before baking. Because of that, the focaccia from Il Frantoio feels pillowy inside but still crispy at the edges — perfect base for whatever topping they throw on. Go for a classic plain‑olive-oil slice if you want something simple and salty. Or, if you’re up for a punchier flavor, try their anchovy version: salty, briny, and made for a beach‑town afternoon. Honestly, it’s the perfect snack to grab before hiking to Vernazza — light, filling, and full of energy for the climb. Bottom line: Focacceria Il Frantoio isn’t fancy. It’s small, kind of hidden, and not Instagram-flashy. 02/10/2025: Born as an ice cream shop... In addition to establishing itself as such in La Spezia...it has managed to expand its offerings for its customers! Lots of pastries for breakfast...savory options...and even gluten-free! Bar counters for excellent coffee! Of course, the ice cream and ice cream cakes are the stars!!! So many flavors to try!!! The place also has an outdoor terrace... I must emphasize that, thanks to the kindness of the owner and the quality of the products, this place far surpasses many bars in the city center!!! Congratulations...

30/09/2025: We happened upon this place by chance, looking for a birthday cake. They were super friendly, but as an ice cream parlor, they also had Sachertorte. We were able to order it the way we wanted, in a heart shape with a personalized inscription. And it was absolutely delicious. I didn't write this review until the cake was gone, so no photo.

07/01/2026: We go to this restaurant every now and then, and the food is excellent. The atmosphere is very warm and the owners and staff are very kind, but what really makes the difference is their cheesecake... truly out of this world, one of the best desserts I've ever eaten.

25/11/2025: Gelateria Corniglia is tucked away behind a pretty non-descript little portal—easy to miss unless you’re looking for it, even though there is some signage. You head downstairs and suddenly land on a surprisingly nice patio where you can sit and enjoy your gelato or whatever frozen treat you’re in the mood for. The gelato itself is solid and the setting is great for taking a break from wandering the town. Service was… fine. Civil, but not exactly warm or welcoming. Still, it’s a good stop if you want a quiet spot to cool off and relax for a few minutes.

01/02/2026: Family lunch for 19 people, carefully prepared, tasty dishes, special "charcuterie board" appetizer, excellent wine on tap, everyone was satisfied, from the little 8-month-old granddaughter to the big 21-year-old, 9 in total. Plus 10 adults, congratulations!!!!

21/12/2025: We had lunch here for the second time. The food was delicious, the welcome was excellent and not at all predictable. The staff were kind and professional. 15/01/2026: The service was fast, friendly and the staff are interested in helping you make the right choice, not pushing to sell you what you don't need. We had really superb farinata: the plain and the onion versions with stracchino and with gorgonzola on the side. It was so good that we bought loads to bring home with us too! Thoroughly recommended and we'll be back the next time we're in La Spezia.

11/01/2026: To all the non-Spezzini... If you're passing through, it would be a crime not to try the pizza and farinata at the legendary Pia!

15/12/2025: The pizza is very good (typical Neapolitan). The only downside is the wait time: for two nearly full dining rooms at 8:00 PM on a Saturday before Christmas, there was only one person serving tables (!!!), and that's just not right.

The day faded in Riomaggiore with a sunset that looked hand-painted, and the night found its perfect epilogue at Osteria La Torpedine. Tucked away in a charming alley discovered almost by chance, the osteria offers a relaxed yet deeply romantic atmosphere, the kind that invites you to linger without ever checking the time. The service flows with ease and precision, but it is the kitchen that truly takes center stage. The trio of anchovies opens the experience with clean, intense, and remarkably fresh flavors, an honest expression of the sea that is rarely found. The main courses—a Trofie al Pesto and a Ravioli al Ragù—shine in their apparent simplicity: unfussy dishes executed with a quiet elegance that speaks of tradition, craftsmanship, and deep respect for local ingredients. A bottle of local white wine, simple and delicious, ties each moment together with effortless harmony. The finale is unforgettable: an ethereal tiramisu, almost unreal, melting like a cloud on the palate, followed by a chocolate lava cake that provides the perfect counterpoint. The exquisite food, outstanding service, and warm, welcoming atmosphere easily made this one of the best dinners I’ve had in my life. Pure perfection.
