The porcini mushroom fettuccine was probably frozen, and the appetizer (salami, ham, cheeses, etc.) was not only poor, but probably a few days old and not fresh. The bill was given verbally without a receipt directly at the table. I would not recommend this restaurant.

There is absolutely no customer service or respect for guests. “Go order it yourself, go do it yourself, go find the waiter who takes orders because I’m the waiter who only brings the food.” As customers, we really don’t care how your staff duties are divided. We came here to relax and spend our money. Being shouted at and told that you are being forced to work here is not our problem. If you don’t want to work, then quit. You, as the public face of this restaurant, are completely ruining its reputation. I do not recommend this place. I hope competitors from the CIS countries open nearby and demonstrate what excellent customer service looks like, with polite and professional waiters instead of the kind of staff working here now.

We stopped at Osteria da Peppe in Castrovillari on our way back from vacation, and we couldn't have made a better choice. The restaurant is welcoming, but the real highlight is the food: we tried the buffalo mozzarella alla cacciatora, absolutely one of the best dishes we've ever had. Balanced flavors, incredibly tender meat, and masterful preparation. What made our visit even more special was the owner. He proved to be a delightful person, extremely pleasant and passionate.

16/08/2026: True tradition and great hospitality! We had lunch at Peppe's in Castro dei Volsci and it was a wonderful discovery. Typical, traditional, and authentically homemade cuisine: everything was truly delicious! I had the pappardelle with ragù (flavorful and perfectly cooked) and the buffalo meat cacciatore, an original and truly delicious dish. Highly recommended if you're looking for authentic old-world flavors.

29/08/2025: I had the ill-advised idea of ​​following the advice of someone I met in Fiuggi who raved about the deliciousness of this trattoria. "It's so cheap, they make huge portions, the fettuccine with wild boar is delicious, it's all family-run." The only truth is that the place was family-run. And you could tell by the state of disrepair on the outside, with peeling walls, horrible neon lights, and an atmosphere of abandonment that didn't convey a pleasant feeling. I didn't have the pleasure of looking inside until after the bill, but it seemed a little more upscale. The service was average. The real problem with this place was what I ate and drank. Given that the place wasn't cheap for the quality of the food and drinks offered, I ordered: supplì, a portion of fries, and then the famous fettuccine with wild boar that I'd heard was wonderful. I washed it down with house white wine and water. Luckily, I'd decided to wait until after the main course, based on how hungry I was. Unfortunately, the wine was completely oxidized: it tasted terrible, as if it had been opened and left like that for weeks. Almost everything I ate was tasteless and completely lacking in salt. The supplì were made with a sauce that was very acidic from the tomato, but completely lacked salt. The same could be said for the chips, which were completely unsalted but tasted good. These chips were the only good thing I ate. The famous fettuccine with wild boar were completely bland, and these, too, were completely lacking in saltiness. I know the taste of a good wild boar ragù well, and this was absolutely not good: you couldn't taste the meat. Quite annoyed by what I'd eaten, I decided to stop dinner there, even though I'd started with the idea of ​​ordering a main course and a side dish. However, I had no desire to continue with this mess. When I went to pay, I explained everything I'd read in the review and was told that they're used to "light" food and that the wine had just been opened that day. I pointed out that there's a big difference between light and bland, just as they'd opened the wine that day, but it had definitely been sitting there for a while and, given the summer heat, it had gone bad. To top it all off, the famously gigantic portions were absolutely normal... nothing out of the ordinary. For all this, I spent a whopping 19 euros. It might not seem like much, but considering the quality and quantity offered, it's truly a rip-off. At the end of the evening, I was wondering, "How do people eat, to say this place is good?" And to think that the person who recommended this place to me had been eating there for both lunch and dinner for days... I STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING THERE ONLY FOR THOSE WHO UNDERSTAND NOTHING ABOUT CUISINE

The atmosphere is very welcoming, and the fireplace added to its charm. Dinner was a true delight. We began with an appetizer of Ciociarian products, among which La Marzolina, a dried ricotta preserved in oil with herbs, stood out. The main courses were excellent: buffalo stew and lamb with tomato sauce! The French fries and fantastic Ciociarian bricholetti were delicious. And to finish... the house tiramisu and wine donuts accompanied by the typical Ciociarian liqueur La Rattafia, made with sour cherries! The owner and the lady serving were very kind, and they happily accompanied the evening 🌸🍀🌺 a place definitely worth a visit!
