I don't expect the residents closest to the train stations in Europe to be any good (don't know why but most of the time this seems to be the case) However, Osteria il Paiolo is an exception to my experience and it exceeded my expectations with how good it was. It's unassuming but the food really speaks for itself. Anyone visiting Ravenna should drop by for a meal on arrival or before departing from the train station!

11/04/2026: The atmosphere and food were meticulously crafted. We had the burrata ravioli with tuna petals, Taggiasca olives, and confit cherry tomatoes, and tagliolini with zucchini pesto, scampi, pine nuts, and zucchini flowers (both mouth-watering). For our main course, a mixed fried fish dish that was simply mind-blowing. I can't give it 10 stars, otherwise I would have. Compliments to all the staff. Highly recommended.

09/04/2026: I had lunch at Osteria TreSeiCinque and was truly impressed. High-quality cuisine, with carefully crafted dishes, clean flavors, and excellent ingredients. You can taste the attention to detail, without ever feeling heavy: perfect even for a relaxed lunch. The extra virgin olive oil served at the table is also excellent, making a real difference on the simplest dishes. Precise and friendly service, well-timed, and a pleasant, bright, and welcoming atmosphere. An ideal place to indulge in a leisurely, high-quality lunch. I would happily return.

04/05/2026: We were delighted to return to this delightful restaurant overlooking the Cervia canal. This time, they seated us outside due to the beautiful day. The quality of the food is always excellent, with the ingredients incredibly fresh. The young woman was excellent at recommending dishes and wine pairings (her charm and flair alone would make us want to come here). I can honestly say it's one of my favorite restaurants.

15/03/2026: FANTASTIC DINNER! A place that pampers you from the minute you walk in, greeting you and taking your coat from the cloakroom, until the last second when they return it and help you put it on. We had the tartare, which is seasoned and served at the table by the Maître d' (a delightful person) with 14 ingredients. We also had the culatello, a simple dish, but the quality of the ingredients is evident. Delicious food, and you can clearly see the expert hand of the chef. Service is prompt and impeccable: the table is cleared before dessert, and wine and water are served promptly. The cover charge includes a welcome entree, their very special breadsticks, a selection of homemade breads, and a small pastry. There are no restaurants in the area that offer this quality and service anymore.

03/05/2026: We went to dinner at this restaurant on a very busy weekend and found a table right away. It's a bit hidden, but it's worth the search. The staff is extremely kind, friendly, and efficient, and they can give you good advice. The food is good and plentiful. The place is a bit rustic, but you immediately feel at home. The prices are fair.
