25/01/2026: Beautiful place, friendly staff, and delicious food. Everything we ate was truly superb, especially the meatballs in tomato sauce, the stuffed zucchini flowers, and the homemade bread. They welcomed us with a smile, along with our four-legged friends. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ❤️

16/11/2025: During a short tour of Basilicata, my brother and I stopped in Senise, home of the crusco pepper, and we really liked the Calycanthus restaurant, appreciating the delicious dishes, courtesy and location, it certainly deserves 5 stars.

01/01/2026: At this restaurant, the mutton skewers (and more) and the meat are truly excellent. The sandwiches, first courses, and appetizers and side dishes (I recommend the Twister potatoes) are also very good. The desserts are unique and worth it; they're like soft nougat. The only flaw is the service; it's a mess when it's crowded.

03/01/2026: This review is for a dinner for two. The atmosphere is nice, a typical restaurant in the Sassi district. There's a limited selection of pizzas, but they're all delicious, including the one we chose. It's among the best we've had in Matera. The downside of the evening was the service. There was an excessive wait to order, and even worse after finishing the pizza. We waited a bit too long for dessert, which arrived a bit too late. Likewise, a couple of tourists at the table next to us left because of the excessive wait. Not good. One improvement I'd suggest is better communication among the staff (which probably needs to be improved on nights like this).

24/02/2026: The service was good and fast but the pizza had no taste, it certainly made with low quality ingredients and was a bit burnt. The cocktail was very good to compensate a bit.

01/01/2026: Extremely overrated restaurant. Its fame is due almost exclusively to the spectacular view, because unfortunately the food doesn't live up to its reputation. For a seafood restaurant, the quality leaves much to be desired: less-than-fresh ingredients, dull flavors, and a limited selection that doesn't justify either the expectations or the price. The menu offers very little choice, and the dishes are anonymous, lacking in attention to detail and character. Considering the extremely high prices, it's clear you're only paying for the location and the name of the restaurant, not the gastronomic experience. A real shame, because with such a location, you'd expect a whole different level of quality. Recommended only for those looking for a nice photo, not for those looking for good food.

15/02/2026: Awful pork. Ruined my vacation, could not eat anything for the next couple of days I was in Italy. Also when I left my clothes were so smelly (because of the food smell inside) Awful experience. The pasta was OK but it doesn’t make up.

22/01/2026: I really enjoyed the food, service, and parking. It may be a little out of the way, but judging by the number of people, it seems well-known. It was recommended to me, and I took advantage of it immediately. The prices may be a little high, but the quality is worth it. The atmosphere is well-organized and, above all, clean. I would consider remodeling the restrooms. Otherwise, everything is fine!

15/02/2026: Even though I'm local, I'd never been to this pizzeria. It's in a very central location, on the main street. The place is modern, well-lit, and very well-kept. The sound-absorbing panels are a great idea; they're modern and in keeping with the decor. The very young staff is welcoming, attentive, and professional. The pizzas are exquisite. The contemporary dough, thin in the center and thick on the crust, is well-leavened, perfectly cooked, and incredibly light. The ingredients are top-quality. I've had a much better pizza than many gourmet pizzerias that are much more renowned...and expensive! The bill is perfectly in line with the quality and quantity of the dishes. Highly recommended.

22/02/2026: The food is good, but the prices don't match the food, ambiance, and location. In Basilicata, you can eat the same way but for less in many places.

18/02/2026: Classic yet well-maintained restaurant. The first courses are simple but good, especially the paccheri with beetroot. The second courses were a bit overcooked and salty, but still enjoyable. The service was friendly and attentive, perhaps too attentive (we didn't even have time to finish before they were ready to clear our plates). The prices are a bit high considering both the area and what we ate. Overall, a 7.

04/03/2026: The most authentic food from this beautiful region of Italy. The handmade pasta, which can be seen being beautifully made by the cooks were fluffy and appropriate to lap up the wonderful sauces using the freshest ingredients of the region. Absolutely exceptional.
