05/04/2026: A guarantee of quality and refinement in Catania Returning to Oxidiana is always a testament. It is undoubtedly one of the best Japanese restaurants in the city for those seeking excellent ingredients and superior technical preparation. The fish is absolutely fresh. I really enjoyed the rolls with raw shrimp and bottarga, a perfect balance of flavors. Technique: The nigiri are expertly prepared. In particular, the seared squid was incredibly tender, with precise cuts that enhanced its texture. Atmosphere: The venue is elegant and refined, perfect for both an intimate dinner and a business meeting. The service is attentive, professional, and never intrusive. The price is consistent with the high quality offered. If you're looking for authentic sushi in Catania, Oxidiana remains a must-visit. Highly recommended!

26/03/2026: I've visited restaurants all over the world, and this one was disappointing in terms of the quality and execution of the food, as well as the preparation and professionalism of the staff. Not recommended.

12/04/2026: After trying so many sushi restaurants in the city, my boyfriend and I decided to try one of the most popular in Palermo. Upon arrival, I noticed a very beautiful and welcoming location, but unfortunately, as soon as we sat down, we were faced with a surprise: 80% of the pieces we ordered, despite being different, had the same flavor and consistency (i.e., rubbery). I strongly advise against the raw shrimp nigiri because, today, it was sour in taste and smell... Maybe we chose the wrong day, or maybe we have a different palate than others who rate it as "one of the best in Palermo."

29/12/2025: The QR code menu is a big turnoff. If you don't eat here often or eat Japanese you will struggle. We had to ask for a pen and paper so we can write down what we wanted. Then we got told the sake I picked wasn't available. Food was good and fresh but quite expensive compared to what we generally have.

21/12/2025: My partner and I were the last to arrive at this restaurant for the first time, at a dinner party. We noticed there were more guests than there were seats at the table. There was a bit of organizational chaos until everyone squeezed in a bit and two of us were seated at a separate table. While they were busy setting the table, we politely asked them to set the table for our two guests, who were missing everything since they'd been added to the main table and wanted, like the others, to start with the prosecco. Nothing. The girl approached twice, carrying glasses, and was invited by the owner to return to her seat. After a while, they arrived, but the prosecco had already gotten too warm. From that moment on, no matter what we asked for—from forks to water or more prosecco—we were incredibly ignored or, at any rate, always served last. When the owner approached and asked how things were going, I called him aside, politely inviting him to pay more attention. He clearly explained that the problem was related to the fact that there were more guests than expected, and I realized he was perhaps trying to take some of the frustration out on us since we were the last to arrive. Our only fault. I want to point out that our participation had been planned with the provider by email for days; we weren't the ones with extra guests. The idea was to leave at that point, but we didn't want to be disrespectful to those who invited us and the sponsor (who drove us). And the overall three stars are due to their kindness, certainly not to the location, but I'm not in the habit of writing negative reviews, especially not negative ones. Realizing we'd been targeted and had to stay, we avoided asking for anything else. Even the cake, despite being seated at the table waiting for it to be brought to us and sitting closest to the cutting area, was served first to the others standing, placed in vacant seats belonging to some of us who had already left, and even offered to tables outside our group rather than have it brought to us. The same thing had happened shortly before with the sake and the bitters; we didn't have the pleasure of anyone approaching to ask. Humiliated from start to finish, we left without tasting it and, given the obvious and repeated shortcomings toward us, refrained from greeting the owners—it's not my habit. I have no comment on the food, which many at the table considered excellent, as I would be affected by the poor service and bad mood, although the evening overall was a success and pleasantly enlivened by a band brought by the organizers. Unfortunately, I'll have to walk past there who knows how many more times since I've recently started working very close by, but I'll try to find an alternative route, ignoring them forever, like they did with me all evening.

25/04/2026: Nice place and average service, but unfortunately the sushi wasn't convincing. The rice was a bit overcooked and flavorless, while the fish didn't have the expected freshness. Nothing inedible, but overall a rather mediocre experience, with no particular reason to return.

19/12/2025: Good food but not exceptional, atmosphere, next to our table near the window a huge cobweb, but the thing that bothered me most was a terrible glass of white wine €10 and €4 cover charge where they don't even bring you a breadstick!

17/12/2025: If you're looking for an authentic and tasty experience, this is the place to be. The sushi is fresh and top-quality, with tender fish and perfect rice. Don't miss the nigiri and creative rolls like the one with salmon, avocado, and teriyaki sauce. The service is impeccable, with attentive staff happy to recommend the perfect sake pairing. A truly unforgettable gastronomic experience!

13/10/2025: Good sushi, but some significant weaknesses in the rest We visited the restaurant with our children and wanted to try a variety of dishes. The sushi was really good – fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. A huge compliment to that! The service was also very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, the rest of the offerings were disappointing: The Phad Thai unfortunately bore no resemblance to the original, and more than half of the alternative sushi dishes weren't available at all. That was a shame, especially when you're there with children and looking for something different. The drink selection was also very limited – there were only Coke and water as non-alcoholic options. A wider selection (e.g., juices, iced tea, or spritzers) would have been really welcome. Conclusion: If you want to eat good sushi, this is the place for you. Everything else needs to be urgently reworked – or the restaurant should focus entirely on what it does best: sushi.
