20/04/2024: A decidedly informal location, which in its particularity could lead to hasty (and wrong) assessments.
But you can't judge a book by its cover, and in this case, nothing could be further guessed.
Small place, from what I saw, the list of dishes is minimal.
But in this case it's definitely a good thing.
The service, absolutely non-invasive and I would say fast enough, does not cause anxiety, and is fast enough.
The dishes we ate reflect, like the menu, the Tuscan tradition, and are without a doubt good and "generous" in portions (and prices).
Wine list not very large, but the glass option, present, is a welcome possibility.
For parking, there are no problems, as it is easily found 100 meters away, both paid and unpaid.
In the final:
A very pleasant discovery.

05/04/2024: If possible, avoid it, as there are many other places where you can eat better.
Easter Monday, asked for among the few dishes on the menu: paccheri with seafood and cuttlefish, I was presented with a plate with paccheri, 4 small mussels and a handful of small clams with 2 rings, they seemed to have been cut with a slicer, however fine they were.
The wait was almost 1 hour. Avoid if you can!

04/11/2023: L'Ombra della Sera is certainly one of the best restaurants in Volterra and the surrounding area. I have been going there for 13 years and I guarantee you that it is worth it. The cuisine is traditional, with a touch of creativity. The dishes are well executed and presented with care. Truffle lovers, like myself, will find satisfaction with the excellent tagliolini with white or black truffle, the exquisite potato and truffle cream and many other proposals. There is obviously no shortage of mushrooms in season. On my last visit, for example, I enjoyed a remarkable salad of fresh porcini mushrooms.
The experience is completed by an attentive welcome without ever being cold and an always honest bill in terms of quality and price.
Definitely recommended address.

24/02/2024: Ero di passaggio in zona per lavoro ora di pranzo e vedendo molte macchine fuori ho deciso di fermarmi. Trovando a menu il colombo… erano anni che non lo mangiavo … ho deciso di assaggiarlo. Uno spettacolo e anche la scelta di accompagnarlo con patate affettate con buccia e fritte della casa è stata corretta. Devo dire veramente eccellenti entrambe. La location è da trattoria ma il cibo veramente buono. Prezzo molto onesto che oggi non guasta.
31/12/2023: Nette rustikale Atmosphäre. Essen typisch toskanisch und sehr gut. Vor 30 Jahren im "La Melatina" (150 meter weiter oben) war's natürlich eine ganz andere Qualität, als Vasco Bartolini gekocht hat. Aber seit das "Nuova Melatina" die alte Tradition weiterführt, freue ich mich, hier wieder die alten Gerichte traditionell genießen zu können. Auch in zukunft eine interessante Option. Alles gute & bleibt bei den toskanischen Originalen!

17/03/2024: Ristorante famoso per la carne ma non all’altezza della sua fama..Antipasti ottimi,carne secondo me tagliata troppo fine,porzioni della tagliata parecchio scarse,prezzo a testa a mio parere alto rispetto a quello che abbiamo mangiato.

16/03/2024: Si mangia molto bene, accoglienza e gentilezza da parte di tutto lo staff, specialmente il Sig. Sergio, persona simpatica, socievole e professionale.
Antipasto toscano, tagliata eccellente e buon vino della casa.
Rapporto qualità prezzo imbattibile.
Ho speso cifre molto più esose in altri ristoranti rinomati senza avere la stessa qualità.
Continuate così !!!

Quick service, well-kept location, friendly wait staff, friendly and approachable owners, and excellent, well-presented dishes.
The menu makes sense and offers varied flavors both in intensity and raw material, ranging between meat, fish and veg options.
Notes of special appreciation for the fried brains, the liver rochers and the cheesecake with dark chocolate and bitter orange marmalade.
We would happily return.

Il cibo è buono, ma le porzioni non sono all'altezza dei prezzi. Personale poco attento ai turisti: nonostante i pochi tavoli, preferiscono soffermarsi sulle esigenze dei clienti abituali.

29/02/2024: Era molto tempo che volevo andare a fare un'esperienza in questo ristorante a pochi passi da casa ed avevo quindi prenotato per festeggiare con la famiglia il mio 6oesimo compleanno. Purtroppo quando siamo arrivati, il giardiniere ci ha comunicato che per causa maltempo, i titolari del ristorante erano rimasti bloccati in Corsica e qundi e non avevano potuto avvertirci prima perché non avevano memorizzato il numero !!! Quindi, niente cena. Abbiamo dovuto cercare e per fortuna abbiamo poi trovato un altro ristorante per festeggiare la ricorrenza...
16/02/2024: Tanti complimenti ai proprietari, che svolgono il loro piacevole lavoro con passione! Posto intimo, genuino ed autentico. Noi abbiamo optato per un ricco menù personalizzato da 45€ per una ricorrenza speciale, in famiglia.
