Il Poggio In Volterra

During a recent visit to Volterra, I stopped at this restaurant for lunch. Location and Cleanliness The restaurant is very pleasant, with special mention for the first floor, which I found well-maintained, tidy, and very clean. The ambiance is undoubtedly one of the establishment's strong points. Service and Hospitality The human aspect was what I found least convincing. The welcome was cold and mechanical, lacking warmth or particular attention to the guest. Furthermore, I found the wait times excessive, both for table service and for payment at the register. Although the restaurant was almost full, one would expect a business located in such a busy area to be more fluid and accustomed to handling large customer flows. Quality of Dishes The portions are generous, and the quality of the ingredients is good. Technical criticism: The risotto I ordered had an excellent flavor, but was marred by excessive saltiness. A real shame, as the dish was otherwise well-prepared. Value for Money The prices are typical for a tourist menu in an art city: quite high, but in line with the restaurant's location. Conclusion: The restaurant has excellent potential thanks to its beautiful surroundings and generous portions. However, better management of wait times and more empathetic service would make the restaurant take a much-needed leap forward.

Excellent typical local trattoria, located in the heart of the town, friendly and professional staff, abundant and well-presented dishes, vast choice of menu, "fair" price....... congratulations

We loved it! Rainy Wednesday night in winter and this was perfect. Lovely service wine without ridiculous markups and the food was authentic. Tuscan pate, homemade tortellini and a delicious desert. Very happy with our choice. I don’t recognize the negative reviews here at all.

We had a delicious lunch here in January. We ordered a generously topped seafood pizza and the three-course set menu. Everything was freshly prepared, the service was very attentive, and we also thoroughly enjoyed the house red wine. The portions were very generous, and we highly recommend this restaurant and encourage everyone to try it for themselves.

A simple restaurant very close to the center of Volterra; a menu featuring traditional dishes, a small number of tables, and a very friendly staff who make you feel right at home. Generous portions, excellent house wine, and quick and efficient service.

The pizza wasn't typical Italian, we didn't like it, but the service was good.

We had a great time at Il Poggio and came back after our first visit for more. The atmosphere and service were brilliant and fun, and the food delicious! We will always come back when we're in Volterra.
