01/02/2026: Quick and friendly service, very good cured meats and cheeses, excellent roast potatoes, very good fried artichokes (not very greasy), excellent tagliolini with wild boar. Excellent crema catalana, tiramisu, and a jar of mascarpone and berries. Recommended!

05/03/2026: I discovered this place a few months ago thanks to friends. I've been there several times in a short time and have always had a great time.

04/03/2026: We found this restaurant by chance on Google while looking for somewhere to eat after a stroll around the nearby lake. What can I say? It's truly amazing! The wood-paneled interior gives it a warm, family-like feel, just how I like it. The food is exceptional: generous and delicious dishes, desserts displayed on a table so you'd want to take them all, and the first courses and meat dishes are delicious. A huge compliment also for the service: the waiters were extremely kind and helpful despite the restaurant being packed. We felt pampered and will definitely be back. The price was in line with the experience and the food we ate.

14/02/2026: Although it's mostly frequented by foreigners, I didn't feel like a "tourist trap." It's a lovely place; the lamb and pecorino cheese sandwich, with anchovies and dried tomatoes, was delicious! Recommended!

10/01/2026: An architect from ATELIER OF ARCHITECTURE was in the area for a leisurely lunch. Unfortunately, we were unable to have lunch.

08/01/2026: We were at this restaurant the other day, around noon. My husband, our two-year-old daughter, and I went in to ask if there was a table. The place was almost completely empty and very, very cold. We were all chilled, especially the little girl. The lady at the entrance looked at me in a snobbish and irritable way, as if we weren't "up to the task," and disgustedly said no. No alternatives were offered, no willingness even to eat quickly, not even the slightest bit of kindness or an invitation to stay warm while we looked for another seat. Absolutely nothing. My husband, who doesn't speak Italian, hadn't noticed the sign in Italian to close the door, and had left it half-open. The lady noticed immediately and literally stepped over us to abruptly close it, without a word, without a shred of understanding. She was truly rude and completely indifferent to the fact that we were freezing, and showed no sign of empathy or welcome. A cold, rude, snobbish, and completely inhuman attitude. We obviously left, and we'll never return. This is the exact opposite of what a restaurant should represent: hospitality, refreshment, and respect for people. Let me just point out that money doesn't smell, but manners do, and they are noticed and remembered. A terrible experience.

01/03/2026: We dined at this restaurant to enjoy the Florentine steak. The menu offered two options: the Florentine steak on the bone (750 grams) and the Florentine steak with fillet (1,250 grams). We immediately chose the fillet steak (to be a Florentine steak, it has to be like that, otherwise it's a steak) with a side of beans in oil. After a wait, the Florentine steak without the fillet steak arrived. I pointed this out, and the waitress told me she would cook the fillet steak immediately, which arrived later. The beans? Later, at my request. The owner also arrived and told me that the Florentine steak with the fillet steak was sold out because there had been too many requests... The steak was good, even if cold inside. Now, anything can happen, making a mistake or finishing a dish (I still don't know if it was finished or a mistake, given the conflicting explanations), but if it's finished, you let them know before cooking it, asking if it's still okay; if it's a mistake... they say it, apologizing. This way, it seems to me like they wanted to "rip me off," which is really unpleasant. The waitress, who I believe told the truth—that there was a mistake—found a solution; the owner... in my opinion, "lied," making the situation worse. It's a shame; the food is good and the atmosphere pleasant. Praise for the waitress, but a negative for the owner.

02/02/2026: Very welcoming and intimate, classic good quality food and above all not too touristy!

07/01/2026: We walked in without a reservation, and the blond, light-eyed, very smiling and helpful young man sat us down. We ordered and were quickly served: Lucchese-style lentil soup, EXCELLENT, a humble dish but with very well-balanced toppings, characteristically the best we've tasted in the Lucca area. Baked potatoes, EXCELLENT, a real DRUG... we literally drank them... among the best we've ever tasted. Truffle tagliolini, EXCELLENT, well-soaked with its creamy sauce and the quality of the truffle shavings excellent, the pasta cooked perfectly! Steamed spinach was good, but be careful with the salt, it was almost inedible. Cantucci and Vin Santo were EXCELLENT, finally some "probably pastry-made" cantucci that deserve to be called such! 2 bottles of water, a glass of red wine, and 2 excellent coffees = €60.00 A special tribute to the chef, "father of the very young head waiter." I repeat my compliments; we ate very well and were served admirably. Overall, great image (a quaint little restaurant just outside Lucca's city center) and great substance (the chef's passion and love for his craft are evident in the dishes). The only flaw (which can be fixed) is the front door; unfortunately, the constant draft from the fact that it keeps opening makes it uncomfortable, especially for those unfortunate enough to be sitting at the entrance. I would definitely return. I will recommend it.

08/02/2026: Saturday evening dinner at 7:30 PM. A historic establishment, documented since 1760. The welcoming rooms are like a true trattoria, with wood-burning fireplaces. Typical Lucca cuisine. We enjoyed excellent tortelli and tasty rovelline, as well as sautéed rapini, which smelled like home. The apple tart with two creams was excellent. Recommended. I've attached the menu, which unfortunately shows the price increase compared to two years ago (example: tortelli from €10 to €14!) that has affected all restaurants.

10/01/2026: We were passing through and stopped at this restaurant for lunch. We were immediately greeted by very friendly staff. The restaurant is charming, quaint, rustic, yet well-maintained. We ate very well: homemade, traditional dishes, all very good at very reasonable prices. I highly recommend it; there are few places like this left these days!

19/03/2026: Excellent dinner; beautiful setting, quality service, and generous portions. Delicious dishes. The Chianti tuna, in your favorite version, is out of this world. Tasty and tender. The place is quaint and pleasant, the service is courteous and friendly! If we ever come back to Lucca, we'll definitely be back. We highly recommend it!

13/09/2025: Beautiful, relaxing atmosphere surrounded by greenery, and upon entry, the inviting yet unobtrusive smell of grilled meat fills the air. The cellar is well-stocked, and during this time of year, mushrooms galore, beautifully pan-fried and grilled caps.

11/03/2026: CASALE TUSCANO Tuscany trip. For our dinner, we've booked at Vecchio Casale ai Pioppi, a typical Tuscan trattoria nestled in the heart of the Viareggio countryside. The atmosphere is traditional and elegant, and the waiter is enterprising, sometimes over-the-top, but friendly. First, a bottle of still water and a bottle of red wine. We're going for the classic, a 2022 Chianti DOCG from Azienda L'Erta in Radda - Radda in Chianti (SI). It's delicious. Our dinner can begin with a mixed house antipasto. A series of dishes served in quick (but not too quick) succession. A platter of mixed cold cuts (prosciutto crudo, finocchiona, salami, and coppa), condiglione, a small bowl of flavored olives, crostini with chicken liver pâté, and some melon boats, followed by other hot dishes: zucchini quiche, squares of polenta with mushrooms, another leek quiche, and potato and cheese croquettes. The appetizers were generous, but could be improved. The crostini with pâté and the cold cuts were excellent, paired with an excellent basket of bread and focaccia, but the other dishes were less intriguing, perhaps too vintage. We continued the dinner by sharing a Tagliata served bone-in on a wooden cutting board with a side of baked potatoes. The meat was rare, as we requested, and again, a generous portion; I'd say it was a good dish. We ordered two coffees and the bill. The total cost was €100. Overall, a decent dinner, the abundance was appreciable, but the quality/price ratio was unconvincing.

23/02/2026: Coming back from Piombino, a very convenient location near the motorway exit. The friendly owner, who has some valuable bicycles in his car, let us park near the entrance to keep an eye on them. Fast service, typical Tuscan dishes, and a great atmosphere.

28/02/2026: Everything was excellent, delicious food, fast and friendly service. I would have probably made the first course portion a little larger. Highly recommended!
