Ceru' In Camaiore

It was May 17th, and after a lovely walk, we arrived at Cerù. Forty or fifty years ago, if I remember correctly, it was owned by the same company as the eponymous cured meat factory. It was a restaurant and offered rooms for rent. The current management doesn't rent rooms, and the actual restaurant is closed, but they serve cold dishes and also high-quality frozen products from a renowned Camaiore brand that are heated in the microwave... others do, but don't mention it. The bar has a large panoramic terrace and is an almost obligatory stop for hikers and mountain bikers. I remember we had a selection of hot and cold appetizers, and to follow, I had an excellent eggplant parmigiana... yes, sure, frozen and heated in the microwave, but truly excellent. The service wasn't restaurant-like, but it was friendly, not formal, just right for a bar that also offers food. I wouldn't call the price "cheap," but for the quality, quantity, and location, I'd say it was just right. I don't give it five stars on principle: the perfect place probably doesn't exist.

Great place at an amazing location

We drove up to the bar several times during our vacation in Lucca. Everyone was always very welcoming. The inside has multiple nice seating area, including a fireplace. There is also plenty of seating outside, where the views are spectacular. The drive up was worth it for the views alone. During our several visits we also had cocktails, espresso, cappuccinos, hot chocolate, Caprese salad and lasagna. All were excellent.
