Recommended by a true Lucca native, it delivered on all its promises. Informal atmosphere, traditional cuisine, excellent food.

We became aware of the restaurant through the reviews. The pasta dishes were very good, as was the vitello tonnato. The veal arsto with potatoes was drenched in olive oil and simply too fatty. The fried chicken was dry and contained a lot of bones.

Great local restaurant. Big local flavor at lunch. Went there mid week this week for dinner. Not a good experience. Maybe fill up the smaller room first. Server acted and looked as though he had been told it was his last shift. For us best for lunch. Maybe in need of a family meeting to discuss what’s to improve on going forward.

We had dinner at this quaint little place and were greeted by the owner, who kindly hosted us and treated us to delicious, home-cooked dishes served in generous portions. I recommend it to everyone! I hope to return.

Think this is a little hidden gem. Had an amazing dinner there with great traditional Lucca dishes. Beautiful staff and an amazing spot.

13/09/2025: Beautiful, relaxing atmosphere surrounded by greenery, and upon entry, the inviting yet unobtrusive smell of grilled meat fills the air. The cellar is well-stocked, and during this time of year, mushrooms galore, beautifully pan-fried and grilled caps.

31/05/2026: It was May 17th, and after a lovely walk, we arrived at Cerù. Forty or fifty years ago, if I remember correctly, it was owned by the same company as the eponymous cured meat factory. It was a restaurant and offered rooms for rent. The current management doesn't rent rooms, and the actual restaurant is closed, but they serve cold dishes and also high-quality frozen products from a renowned Camaiore brand that are heated in the microwave... others do, but don't mention it. The bar has a large panoramic terrace and is an almost obligatory stop for hikers and mountain bikers. I remember we had a selection of hot and cold appetizers, and to follow, I had an excellent eggplant parmigiana... yes, sure, frozen and heated in the microwave, but truly excellent. The service wasn't restaurant-like, but it was friendly, not formal, just right for a bar that also offers food. I wouldn't call the price "cheap," but for the quality, quantity, and location, I'd say it was just right. I don't give it five stars on principle: the perfect place probably doesn't exist.
23/05/2026: We stopped for a break and had a sparkling water and a barley coffee.
