10/05/2024: Being in a tourist hotspot, you would expect a poor experience but it was the complete opposite. The food was excellent and plentiful, we ordered fish (fried calamari and tuna) and they were both tender and delicious. I also loved the culurgiones. It was a very busy Sunday with lots of customers (many were clearly local, not tourists) yet the service was good. An overall pleasant experience, I'd definitely recommend it.

But that's not all, they also do a delicious lamb accompanied by thin roasted potatoes. Found the place recommended by locals online as one of the best restaurants in this Trastevere area. 07/04/2024: I hadn't been here in years, I had forgotten about this restaurant. The first impact was the welcome. A staff, very knowledgeable and above all kind and helpful. We ordered a raw appetizer, very fresh, the waiter in the room presented the eels on the spit, small and tasty, he then presented some stewed broad beans that caught our palate, even if they were not part of our order, we liked them. The mixed fried fish from the gulf was equally high quality. For dessert, a crunchy semifreddo with berries and an artichoke bitters. 😘 The bill is more than honest. Surely, I can only speak WELL about it!! Thank you

06/04/2024: I had already been to you with a Sardinian wine producer and I must say that we had a great time with the food. The portion of fregola is a little smaller than normal. I give only one piece of advice to the owner, fire the dark-skinned boy who appears to be South American. He annoyed and bothered two Russian girls in a heavy way who were at the table next to us without paying attention to us. I tell you, when I asked what the wines were by the glass, he couldn't answer me. This scene went on until the two girls, as soon as they had eaten their meal, ran away. I wouldn't have even paid the bill if I were them. Embarrassing

05/04/2024: I would like to respond to Gianmauro Carlone's review, which unfortunately there is no possibility to leave a comment under his review. First of all, my colleague and I often have lunch at La Cala and we've always had a good time! The gentleman indicated above reported that a waiter was bothering two Russian girls, me being Ukrainian and my Russian colleague, as underlined by South American Gianmauro according to his observation, but being a bit superficial he may not have noticed that we were just joking with each other there, as we do every time when we are at La Cala for lunch, otherwise we would have told the waiter to leave us alone, and we didn't run away, having an hour for lunch we are always in a hurry to get back to work in time. This waiter is always very attentive, as are all the staff at La Cala, they are always very attentive and kind, so I wish Mr. Gianmauro before writing complaints against others, be sure that they really have the reason even if it were done with good intentions, it is better to write exclusively for yourself first.

02/01/2024: Ho già recensito qualche mese fa questo ristorante. Ma mi sembra doveroso ribadire quanto già scritto in occasione di una circostanza diversa e non sempre facile per i ristoratori e per i piccoli ristoratori in particolare: la cena di capodanno. Mi sento di definire la cena dell'ultimo dell'anno 2023 come la mia migliore cena di sempre, non solo per la cucina (non posso che ribadire quanto ho già scritto precedentemente), ma anche per il clima piacevole, tranquillo, rilassante di tutta la cena, senza fracassi, strombazzi o altro. Abbiamo anche dormito in uno dei tre bungalow (non saprei come altro definirli) di cui la struttura dispone, carini e comodi, da cui si può godere il bellissimo e vasto panorama sulla campagna e il mare. Abbiamo infine gustato una prima colazione di altissimo livello. Nella cena non saprei trovare un difetto; un elogio speciale, fra gli elogi generali, al dolce (dire una eccellente bavarese all'arancia) della signora Patrizia. A lei e al signor Gianluca i nostri auguri per il prossimo anno.

12/05/2024: We had lobster linguine and Schnitzel, also some prosciutto. The lobster linguine was the star because the sauce was very tasty. The Schnitzel was a bit thin and dry even though the portion was huge. The service was excellent. The vibe was nostalgic to Italian football fans.

29/03/2024: We came here because we thought it was very good after reading the reviews. The ambience was not cozy: very bright lights, and boring. The waiters seemed like they were bored. The food… my boyfriend got a gluten free pasta that was not cooked properly. It was hard and difficult to eat. The seafood that came with the pasta was not fresh. We were only happy for the local wine the waiter suggested.
