08/02/2026: One should avoid cream tarts on Sundays. They tasted sour, not fresh. If you're selling defrosted pastries or leftovers from the day before, you should inform the customer. What a shame! Unfortunately, this isn't the first time it's happened.

03/08/2026: I was here for dinner and everything was very good. I recommend the pappardelle with venison ragù and the goulash, really good and high-quality! The only negative: the prices are a bit too high...especially paying €2 per person for the cover charge without even bread.

30/07/2026: A very nice place, even in the summer. In the summer, park behind the disused chairlift.

27/07/2026: The coffee and cake were lovely, we enjoyed it. Unfortunately, there was a lot of construction noise from the place next door. Sorry, but €15.50 for two coffees and a piece of cake is outrageous.

04/06/2026: A lovely little café in the old town. Great service. The cakes are excellent and large.

26/07/2026: We had breakfast here as a group of four. We ordered the farmer's breakfast, scrambled eggs, and a sweet breakfast. The food was tasty. Unfortunately, the tables are too small for four people, and I would have liked a better presentation of the dishes, in keeping with the ambiance, and some seasoning for the eggs. We would gladly come back.

18/07/2026: We've been coming to Kaltern and the Laubencafé for years. We always feel at home and enjoy a relaxing time in the market square with cappuccino, affogato, Aperol Spritz, and other delicious treats. We're also always very happy with the food and ice cream on offer and regularly enjoy breakfast or lunch. Thank you, and see you next time!

09/09/2025: Bar with excellent service. Extensive menu. Excellent ice cream sundaes. Rating confirmed in September 2025. Also excellent are the toasts, cakes, and hot chocolate.

07/06/2026: The location is a major plus, but due to bad weather, we sat inside, which wasn't very inviting. The chair cushions were damaged, and it could definitely use a cleaning. The other cafes in the area are much more inviting. The cake and coffee were okay.

13/06/2026: If you want to be treated really rudely while buying ice cream, this is the place for you. We wanted to bridge the waiting time for the bus with some ice cream. So we stood in front of the ice cream counter, and the two servers were clearly very busy and initially ignored us. After about a minute, my wife dared to speak up, asking them to prepare two ice creams for us, as we had to catch the bus. The quick-witted server replied, "Yes, yes, everyone has to catch the bus today." She mumbled a few more pleasantries under her breath, which thankfully we didn't understand. Trying to regain her composure, she then served us, and my wife received an extra-small scoop of ice cream as a "thank you" for her intervention. It was a quarter smaller than my already meager portion. Yesterday in Merano, for ten cents more (2 euros), I got scoops almost twice the size with much better taste. My conclusion (after a total of three visits to the café in the last two years): there's better ice cream and much friendlier and more cheerful staff in Algund than in Überbacher.

06/06/2026: I've been a frequent customer, and the food has always been excellent. The ice cream and cakes are delicious. Unfortunately, the service is consistently unfriendly, harsh, and rude. Since good service is important to me, I don't think I'll be coming back.

05/03/2026: We were at the church for a funeral when my daughter suddenly had to use the restroom urgently. Unfortunately, the public restroom was out of order, and the two other bars nearby were closed. So we quickly went into this bar, and I immediately gave the waitress €4 and politely asked if my daughter could use the restroom for a moment. The waitress said I had to ask the manager first. So I went to the manager, handed him the €4 as well, and explained the situation. His reply was very curt: No, we should use the public restroom. I explained again that it was out of order and that we didn't want to drink anything because we were at the church for a funeral—and that I was happy to give him the €4 (which is actually more than a glass of mineral water would cost). His only response was: "Well, then you'll have to do without it." I was so ashamed of myself, especially in these times, to treat people like that, especially in such a situation!! I hope Stefan, you never find yourself in a situation like that again!
