18/11/2025: Finally, a classy place in Viareggio (and there aren't any others like it), with great music and a friendly atmosphere! Their drinks are excellent and the service is excellent! Yesterday, I ordered a "capri" (a drink they created), which I highly recommend and which they gave me a detailed explanation of! With my drink, they brought me a generous bowl of chips and a tray of delicious appetizers!

05/03/2026: Excellent hamburger made on the spot (ground on the spot), clean place and very nice and kind waitresses.

10/01/2026: We always go for the burger, but tonight I wanted to try the pizza...what can I say...whatever you order is AMAZING! The focaccia with Nutella and mascarpone is a must-try; it's never tasted so good anywhere else. The waitresses are so sweet, fast, and always smiling. Irene, the perfect hostess! 10/09/2025: Excellent pastry shop and café with delicious classic, traditional, and local brioches! Clean atmosphere, street-facing tables (but no table service), and extremely friendly, welcoming, and cheerful staff! Highly recommended for a great breakfast to start your day off right!

31/08/2025: I discovered this pastry shop by chance on a rainy day. Friendly staff, excellent coffee and cappuccino. The pastries were so good we returned several times for breakfast. I recommend the puff pastry with ricotta cream. Delicious 🤤

11/08/2025: I just went to this bar. I just arrived in Viareggio, and I'm on vacation. I found the lady at the bar (I don't know if she's the owner or the bartender) very rude, yelling at me that I should turn off the light in the bathroom. She should be more polite and kind to customers.

17/03/2026: The prices are somewhat okay but the place felt like tourist trap. The pastries were already non fresh at 10am… the creams were so liquid, not even tasty… worst pistacchio cream ever.

05/03/2026: This is our last day in Lucca. In the afternoon, we stopped for two coffees and two desserts. We found the atmosphere and outdoor seating area to be lovely, and the staff was quick and efficient.

04/01/2026: Fantastic desserts, and the arancini for lunch were also top-notch. Plus, they were really friendly and helpful. A must-visit on our Viareggio vacation.

20/10/2025: We stopped, drawn by the colorful tables and chairs. Then we entered the pastry shop and were greeted with that typical Sicilian welcome. The ricotta reminded us of the one from Palazzolo, but less sweet, just the way we like it. When we return, it'll be a regular stop! Thanks from the Romans!

23/12/2025: This is the second or third time I've had this happen. The place is bright and comfortable, and the staff is friendly, but the pastries need updating. For example, sometimes by 8 o'clock some are out of stock or certain types are missing, others are undercooked, and still others haven't risen enough, leaving the salty sourdough taste noticeable. I hope this comment helps improve the pastry shop, which has always been excellent.

23/12/2025: I went for a drink that evening with my friends. There were 20 of us when we arrived, and 13 of us ordered drinks. The others were forced to have something (other than water) because the place (after accepting the reservation, given the large number of people) was open only for us. €6 for a Coke and €2.50 for a half-liter of water, with no platters or anything. Very disappointed; it was a place I really liked. I understand that staying open on a Monday in winter is difficult to recoup, but it can't be passed on to the customers, since the reservation had been confirmed.

23/12/2025: LEGALIZED THEFT. Paying €6 for a Coke in December seems excessive to me. A table of several people forced to order because they were the only ones in the cafeteria. Impossible to order just a bottle of water because it's too cheap for the shopkeeper. BUT €2.50 for 0.5L of water is theft.

23/12/2025: About 15 days ago, I bought a Saker cake and a panettone as a gift. The cake was delicious, but the panettone was inedible, practically dry. I mentioned it to the staff, and they told me I had to return it even three days after purchasing it. I was disappointed because I'd been a regular customer of the bakery in the past, and at least offering me a pastry would have been enough to apologize for the embarrassment I'd made with the person I'd given it to. Anyway, I think gentlemen are born. No more panettone at Futura.

The food ranges from sweet to savory: all kinds of brioche, pastries, cakes, savory brioche, focaccia, mini pizzas, Valdostane, and more. The cafeteria also offers a wide selection. I recommend trying their cakes at least once: the best, in my opinion, are the cheesecake and the chocolate and raspberry cake. The change in staff was a great choice: those who currently work here are always friendly and attentive! Well done! I'm only giving the place 4 stars, not because it's a bad pastry shop—in fact, it's very nice—but because I'd like to see more tables inside; depending on the time of day, it can be difficult to find a spot. Another plus is the parking: convenient on the Via Aurelia side for those staying a short time, and more practical at the back for those staying longer. Highly recommended!

07/01/2026: Pizzeria on the promenade. The pizza used to be good, but I think pizzerias don't exist anymore.

22/09/2025: Service: The wine we wanted to drink, which the staff said was a great decision, wasn't available. The bottle that we then ordered was brought to us open, but we couldn't even test it first, so we had to pour the first glass ourselves. The waiter had problems speaking english and was not flexible at all with the dish selection, since many dishes weren't available. We had to pay inside at the register, so with all that in mind, why does one have to pay cover charge? Food: The mozarella in the caprese salad was very jewy and the olive oil and aceto balsamico came in plastic bags, again why cover charge? The fish was okay but bland. The gnocchi were mushy and the shrimp sauce tasted frozen with a weird rotten fish aftertaste. Also the shrimps were cut open and there were scissors of other sea animals in the dish. We had to return it because it was inedible.

16/03/2026: Highly recommended for a lunch stop if you're in Lucca. The "La Spenta" stuffed focaccia from Lucca is excellent, with grilled vegetables in oil and very fresh mozzarella. Delicious and crunchy. All washed down with a Spritz! Viviana, the entire staff, and the owner Giovanni and his mother, who offered us a digestive, were very friendly. Our rating is 10+1.

15/02/2026: A truly embarrassing experience. We went for a simple gin and tonic and found ourselves subjected to rude and annoyed behavior when it came to asking for the bill. The woman who introduced herself as the owner responded rudely and arrogantly, for no reason at all. When I calmly pointed out the inappropriate tone, the situation escalated further. The most surprising thing is that the same treatment was meted out to customers after us. Reading other people's reviews, I discovered that this wasn't an isolated incident but a recurring pattern. A place thrives on customers: treating them with condescension and arrogance is the fastest way to lose them. Respect should be the foundation, especially if you claim to be the owner. As you replied, "I've been doing this job for 30 years," I think it's time for you to leave because you don't know how to deal with the public. You've also made your employees uncomfortable with your behavior.
