31/05/2026: A very well-kept, interesting, and yet familiar location, with a large selection of wines in the cellar. The owners are kind and attentive. Service is attentive. The food is carefully selected, with a focus on local products and a taste of the Murgia region. Excellent appetizers and first courses. Typical local meats such as lamb, mutton, and "pezzente" (pork sausage). A restaurant for those who love good food.

19/05/2026: We had lunch and ordered the Classics menu - "U Vuccàun". The service and the overall experience were excellent from the very beginning. We tried many new flavors, all expertly prepared and presented. The portions were very generous, and we were quite satisfied by the end of the meal. Wine tasting is also available.

27/12/2025: We stumbled upon it by chance, without a reservation, one day during the Christmas holidays. We'd heard good things about it, and it deserved its reputation: we had excellent raw seafood (compliments to the accompanying sauces), a first course (tagliolini spunsale and anchovy colatura), a second course (sea bass with chard cream), and two desserts. Everything was delicious! It must be said: the price isn't cheap. The service was truly friendly, both to us and to our dog. I recommend it for a special occasion.

10/05/2026: Porta di Basso was, quite simply, exceptional. The kind of restaurant that reminds you why certain dining experiences stay with you long after the evening ends. Set dramatically above the Adriatic, the atmosphere is breathtaking from the moment you arrive. As the light softened over the sea and the cliffs below, the entire evening felt almost cinematic — elegant, intimate and deeply connected to the landscape of Gargano. The cuisine was outstanding. Creative yet restrained, refined without losing soul. Every dish felt thoughtful, beautifully balanced and deeply rooted in the territory while still carrying the confidence of true fine dining. One of those rare tasting experiences where every course genuinely surprises and delights. What elevated the evening even further however was the extraordinary service. Warm, polished, passionate and incredibly attentive without ever becoming formal or stiff. The entire team made us feel genuinely welcomed and carefully looked after throughout the night. Porta di Basso is not simply a restaurant — it is a destination experience. A place where setting, cuisine and hospitality align perfectly. Without doubt one of the most memorable dining experiences we have had in Italy.

08/06/2026: Beautiful historic building in the center of Polignano. The restaurant offers parking for guests, very convenient given the summer heat. We dined on Saturday; the appetizer was good, but the pizza was superior. Impeccable service; we thank Tomas for his patience and his ever-present smile. Recommended.

03/05/2026: This evening I went to this place for the first time, the waiters were courteous and kind, nice atmosphere... BUT THE THING THAT DISGUSTED ME WAS SEEING THE FOOD PREPARATION STAFF WORKING WITHOUT GLOVES AND TOUCHING EVERYTHING WHILE PREPARING THE FOOD...... BUT WHERE IS THE HYGIENE??????.... IT'S A SHAME TO SEE THESE THINGS IN A PLACE...

21/04/2026: I had the opportunity to try the entire restaurant; the location was beautiful and the food was good. They also paid a certain amount of attention to vegetarians and vegans, which isn't always a given. I'd also like to point out that there were some kids who provided some entertainment—I'm not sure if they're there every day or just on weekends—and that there were inflatables and a large green space where you could wander between courses or let the kids play. There were even a few cute cats that popped up every now and then. The only thing is that perhaps we waited a bit too long between courses, but the restaurant was full.

The atmosphere was welcoming and well-maintained, the food was excellent and plentiful, and everything was prepared with great attention to quality. 11/05/2026: We went on a recommendation and were disappointed. The waitress who served us was very rude, simply because we didn't understand that there was a minimum order of two risotto/spaghetti dishes (we wanted to order gluten-free and thought that was the reason, not because it was a general rule). She seemed annoyed at having to explain it again and came over with the menu in hand, behaving rudely (it wasn't specified on the online menu, or at least not as clearly). Then she started talking to a colleague and giving us sidelong glances, even though it was perfectly obvious they were talking about us. A total lack of respect, simply because we're Spanish and there had been a minor communication problem. We didn't get up and leave because we have more manners than she did. The risotto was awful, it tasted like nothing, but the pasta carbonara was quite good. Good luck with your staff! Reading the reviews, we see that this isn't an isolated incident… What a shame

03/05/2026: I regretfully leave this review, but I feel it's my duty. I was supposed to have lunch at this restaurant today, but to my disappointment and that of the person who called me, the reservation was canceled the previous evening due to the chef's unavailability. There was a possibility (unconfirmed) of further cancellations, including for the evening service. I fully understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, especially in a high-end restaurant. However, beyond the person who called me's willingness to accept new reservations for subsequent days, I would have expected a different handling of the situation from a Michelin-starred restaurant: more careful communication, a concrete offer to rebook, and a minimal sign of concern for the customer for the inconvenience. So far, beyond the quality, which I haven't had the opportunity to experience, the service and booking management experience hasn't lived up to the expectations that a restaurant of this caliber inevitably creates.
