15/07/2026: Good but simple restaurant. They're friendly!

13/07/2026: Unbelievable rudeness and zero attention to families. I absolutely do not recommend this place. We were choosing dinner for ourselves and our children. Since the little ones never finish everything, I wanted to share a dish with my son. The lady approached us in an intrusive and rude manner, forbidding us from sharing because "otherwise she wouldn't earn any money." There was no specific prohibition on the menu; it was a rule made up on the spot out of greed. Mistreatment of a family with small children for fear of earning a dish less is shameful. Apulian hospitality is something else entirely.

27/12/2025: We stumbled upon it by chance, without a reservation, one day during the Christmas holidays. We'd heard good things about it, and it deserved its reputation: we had excellent raw seafood (compliments to the accompanying sauces), a first course (tagliolini spunsale and anchovy colatura), a second course (sea bass with chard cream), and two desserts. Everything was delicious! It must be said: the price isn't cheap. The service was truly friendly, both to us and to our dog. I recommend it for a special occasion.

28/03/2026: Excellent quality, I've been there twice. The pizzas are extraordinary, beautiful, colorful, and delicious. The charcuterie and cheese platter is very well-curated and delicious. I recommend the foal carpaccio, which has a very delicate flavor. The baked potatoes are unusual, so original. The desserts are also excellent. The staff is very kind and helpful. I'll be back again, congratulations!

08/06/2026: Beautiful historic building in the center of Polignano. The restaurant offers parking for guests, very convenient given the summer heat. We dined on Saturday; the appetizer was good, but the pizza was superior. Impeccable service; we thank Tomas for his patience and his ever-present smile. Recommended.

02/06/2026: We have been there more than once, the last one last Sunday for a confirmation, we ate divinely... from the appetizer to the dessert... sublime first courses, even the second courses, impeccable service.. congratulations

25/06/2026: Excellent restaurant! The homemade gnocchi with scampi are highly recommended. The tagliata di cavallo as a main course was also of high quality and very well prepared. Highly recommended as well. Gluten-free options are also available.

03/05/2026: We ate here on Labor Day (a national holiday in Italy). Because Italians mainly celebrate this day with family and friends around lunchtime, we, along with two other tourist couples, were the only guests in this restaurant. That was a shame for the atmosphere. No Italian family coziness. Anyway, we had a delicious meal! The two waiters were attentive, spoke English, and did their job well (we did have to pour the wine ourselves from the bottle, but that didn't matter). It is a beautiful place with a lovely terrace as well for the warm summer evenings that are sure to come.

19/04/2026: A superb restaurant, which in France would be considered a bistro. It was quiet out of season, the service was very pleasant, the atmosphere was lovely, and the food was delicious.

28/06/2026: This place is in a beautiful setting in the middle of nowhere, but conveniently just a few minutes drive from the hotel where we were staying. We had the seven course tasting menu, which was exquisite: delicious appetisers, al dente pasta, fish cooked to perfection, a meat course (skirt steak) and a little dessert to finish off. Food allergies were properly taken into account. They have an extensive list of local and international wines. Highly recommended if you are into fine dining.

14/07/2026: Reunion with fellow sommeliers, excellent location overlooking the sea, a setting suitable for any occasion. Excellent appetizers, raw seafood, and first courses. Excellent selection of still and sparkling wines, beautifully presented and explained by Vito. We overdid it with a 3.5kg grouper, half with mezzé paccheri and the other half roasted, truly delicious. We overdid it with the sparkling wine, but in the end, we are... sommeliers. 🤷🏽‍♂️

10/05/2026: Porta di Basso was, quite simply, exceptional. The kind of restaurant that reminds you why certain dining experiences stay with you long after the evening ends. Set dramatically above the Adriatic, the atmosphere is breathtaking from the moment you arrive. As the light softened over the sea and the cliffs below, the entire evening felt almost cinematic — elegant, intimate and deeply connected to the landscape of Gargano. The cuisine was outstanding. Creative yet restrained, refined without losing soul. Every dish felt thoughtful, beautifully balanced and deeply rooted in the territory while still carrying the confidence of true fine dining. One of those rare tasting experiences where every course genuinely surprises and delights. What elevated the evening even further however was the extraordinary service. Warm, polished, passionate and incredibly attentive without ever becoming formal or stiff. The entire team made us feel genuinely welcomed and carefully looked after throughout the night. Porta di Basso is not simply a restaurant — it is a destination experience. A place where setting, cuisine and hospitality align perfectly. Without doubt one of the most memorable dining experiences we have had in Italy.

21/04/2026: I had the opportunity to try the entire restaurant; the location was beautiful and the food was good. They also paid a certain amount of attention to vegetarians and vegans, which isn't always a given. I'd also like to point out that there were some kids who provided some entertainment—I'm not sure if they're there every day or just on weekends—and that there were inflatables and a large green space where you could wander between courses or let the kids play. There were even a few cute cats that popped up every now and then. The only thing is that perhaps we waited a bit too long between courses, but the restaurant was full.

22/02/2026: The location is a bit difficult to reach, the entrance from the street should be illuminated, I was there for a pharmaceutical presentation, the location is beautiful and spacious, I can't express my opinion on the outside because it was dark and raining, the dishes are excellent and tastefully prepared

27/06/2026: Terrible service! Embarrassing staff! I understand it's not easy working on a Saturday night, but please smile! And above all, if we try to politely call the staff, a little attention would be appreciated. The only saving grace is the location! But the service is truly terrible. The food is nothing special.

11/07/2026: An evening spent with a couple of friends, planning on having pizza. The location is pleasant; we booked a table for four in the well-appointed courtyard/garden behind the restaurant. We could have ordered, if we'd wanted, seafood and meat appetizers, various first and second courses, salads, and desserts. We limited ourselves to pizzas (there's a wide selection) and one dessert each. Everything was satisfying, and the final bill seemed reasonable, considering we included draft beers, mineral water, and two glasses of good wine. What we didn't appreciate was the poor hygiene found in the restrooms. In such a busy restaurant, it would be wise to assign a member of staff to constantly monitor and clean the restrooms. It would make a better impression on the restaurant's patrons, who are admittedly numerous, including many foreigners.

10/07/2026: We ate at this typical local restaurant and were able to enjoy some traditional dishes, even gluten-free ones! We were very satisfied!
