20/08/2025: I visited Ristorante La Cascinetta in Vezzo di Gignese and had a truly wonderful experience. The restaurant is beautifully maintained, surrounded by greenery, and has a welcoming atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease. A dish I highly recommend is the Sanato tartare: fresh, delicate, and prepared with great care, truly one of the best I've ever tasted. The shrimp over gazpacho is also truly superb! All the dishes are carefully crafted, with quality ingredients and refined presentation. The staff is super attentive and kind, always available to offer advice and make your meal even more enjoyable. Overall, a beautiful place where you can feel pampered and enjoy truly delicious food. Highly recommended!

07/10/2025: The dishes were prepared with care and taste. Although the portions aren't very generous, the prices are quite high. The place is small and fills up quickly, and the noise level can get very loud. Friendly service. Good vegetarian options.

17/09/2025: The backdrop still whispers of grandeur. But what was once noble restraint and cultivated elegance is now merely a shell. The rooms and hallways appear majestic; they are the showpiece of a house that still remembers its greatness. The garden is enchanting, the lobby welcomes with a dignified pose. But beware, if you look closer. There was no corkscrew in the room. I politely asked for one. The concierge sent me to the bar without comment. There, the bartender first looked at me in incomprehension, understood after a brief explanation, and finally told me I had to take the bottle to the bar personally to have it opened. In a five-star hotel. In Italy. In the land of wine. An absurd ritual of helplessness disguised as a service process. Then in the garden: white wine in a plastic cup. And breakfast marks the moment when a grand hotel suddenly becomes just a hotel. When I politely asked for a daily newspaper, the lady looked at me as if I'd asked for something long forgotten. I mentioned examples—Le Monde, Financial Times, FAZ—but the response remained a questioning look and ultimately a simple no. She asked me to express my request at the reception desk. There, the young colleague was equally perplexed, while the concierge next to her limited herself to a brief shake of the head. No apology, no smile, no semblance of understanding. Just silent helplessness. The silver spoon on the table wasn't polished, but simply dirty. I asked for a replacement. It came. Without comment. The breakfast room is dominated by the zeitgeist. iPads flicker like modern illuminated signs, while tracksuits and muscle shirts are displayed with the ease of elegant dressing gowns. The cell phone lies like a talisman next to the cutlery, always within reach, always more important. And then this salmon. Carefully arranged, as if it were the signature dish of a Nordic Michelin-starred chef. The lasting impression is harder to digest than what's served. The Caesar salad at lunchtime. A farce. A low point in terms of taste, a tragedy in terms of aesthetics. Not a greeting from the kitchen, but a culinary swan song. More a symbol of Rome's decline than a reminiscence of its glorious past. And then those guests who flaunt their Louis Vuitton bags, as if the logo conferred class. But you can't buy style. That was once known in hotels like this. Where discreet old money once lodged, selfie money now sleeps. Loud, self-absorbed, with no sense of the place they're entering. What remains is a grand hotel that no longer shines, but merely glitters. And if Hemingway had entered the lobby today, he would have remained silent, taken a look, and then sat down at the bar. Not to write. But to forget. One bright spot remains, however: the spa area. Tasteful, well-maintained, tranquil. A place where you can still feel what a house like this once stood for. There, in the pleasant silence of the steam bath or when gazing out into the garden from the relaxation room, it shimmers. A memory of true class.

07/10/2025: A typical tourist pizza restaurant, with a very low quality-price ratio. For example, a Capricciosa pizza costs 15 euros, and the prices for the others are similar. One might expect a quality pizza. Instead, they serve one cooked in an electric oven, very mediocre, both in terms of dough and toppings. We're just a few kilometers from the Swiss border, and the prices for pizzas and all the other dishes are "Swiss." But in Italy, there are thousands of pizzeria restaurants where you can enjoy quality food for much lower prices.

04/10/2025: Good pasta with mushrooms, good pizza. Unfortunately, too expensive for Cannobio. We paid €100 for four people (2 pizzas and 2 pastas).

08/09/2025: Very nice cozy restaurant with good service. The only request: please replace the TORTELLI RIPIENI DI SCAMPO on the menu. It's beautiful presentation, but absolutely not tasty and smells like an old rag. Sorry. But nevertheless, the other dishes were quite tasty and overall we liked the restaurant.
