12/04/2026: I found myself alone in Piombino for work and, intrigued by the reviews, I decided to dine at Taverna dei Boncompagni.
The quality of the food (from appetizer to dessert) and the service were superb.
The skate and the dry-aged snapper took me back to Japan, the risotto delicious, the yuzu dessert a refreshing finish to cleanse the palate.
Simone was a unique host, demonstrating great hospitality and an in-depth knowledge of the ingredients and wines.
The #1 restaurant in the area, I recommend everyone to try it!

09/04/2026: Nice and welcoming, with the feel of a luxury restaurant, they pampered us with a welcome aperitif, entree, and pre-dessert, but the dishes were quite average, not exceptional.
Excellent service.
07/04/2026: A beautiful, quiet, and comfortable venue. Very high quality down to the last detail. Truly excellent food and adequate wines. The staff is knowledgeable yet friendly. The prices are commensurate with the quality, high but perfectly reasonable. It's almost always sold out on weekends, so reservations are a must.

On our way back from a trip to the area, we decided to extend our stay and stop here for dinner. It was a delightful experience with very hospitable service. They had fresh porcini mushrooms picked that day and brought us a truly generous tagliatelle, which we devoured! It's a shame the tray wasn't edible, otherwise we would have eaten that too. Thank you, and see you soon!

We had called ahead and reserved a table.
31/03/2026: We were returning from Sienna to our hotel in Lucca and decided to check Google Maps for a place to have a quick dinner. Since we were close to Barga, Trovaposo showed up. Since it was around 7pm on a Thursday night, we decided to give it a try.
The place was pretty packed with locals and we were lucky to get a table. It was obvious that we were the only foreigners there. The owner was very friendly and when he realized that we didn't speak italian he made it a point to come over to ensure we understood the menu (one of his staff was taking care of us).
The pizzas we had were delicious and the way only italians make it -thin base and the right amount of toppings on it.
So glad we followed the recommendations on Google - we wouldn't have found it otherwise
