27/06/2026: We made a reservation by phone for seven people at 8:30 PM. We arrived on time and were told we had to wait outside for a table to become available. At 9:00 PM, we asked how they were doing, and the waiter chuckled (!), saying we'd only have to wait another five minutes. At 9:15 PM, still nothing. By now, it was too late to change restaurants, so we asked for directions, but they told us they'd seat us shortly. At 9:30 PM, a table for six became available, and they seated us (squeezing us in, since there were seven of us). We went to order, and half the dishes on the menu were sold out. We ate what was available (which arrived slowly anyway) and left, annoyed by how we'd been treated. It was the first time we'd had an experience like this, and reading the other reviews, it doesn't seem to be an exception.

03/05/2026: The experience fell far short of expectations, especially considering the price paid. • Food: It arrived lukewarm, which significantly compromised the quality of the meal. • Service: This was the most critical point. I waited 20 minutes just to order a bottle of water. When I finally managed to get the employee's attention, the response was rude. It's unacceptable to see a staff member pass by us 10 times empty-handed and ignore the request, demonstrating a lack of care for their professional presentation. • Quality/Price Ratio: Very low. I had lunch at a considerably cheaper place on the same day and received much better service. Unfortunately, I do not recommend it and do not intend to return.

06/04/2026: We had lunch at Easter. Poor quality food. The worst place we ate in Chioggia. The boiled meat was €24, and on the plate there was 1 sardine, 2 shrimp, and little else, not to mention the first courses. I didn't order the second course because after we sat down at 12:30, they started serving us at 3:30, the first courses at 4:00, and honestly, given the time, we didn't feel like continuing.

02/04/2026: We had lunch here today. Clean place, excellent service, and generous portions. The waiter was very friendly, kind, and knowledgeable. We will definitely be back.

25/03/2026: Slightly improved quality. The food isn't bad considering the genre, but fried foods, especially when they get cold, are to be avoided. The ordering system is nice.

17/07/2026: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic experience at Ristorante Pizzeria El Fontego! Delicious pizza, and even though the kitchen was actually about to close, they still made three for us. That’s what I call top-notch service! Friendly staff, a beautiful location, and highly recommended.

29/06/2026: We've been frequenting this restaurant for over twenty years, and although we'd noticed a slight decline recently, this year's experience marked an absurd and truly difficult decline. While the final price remained reasonable for a tourist seafood restaurant, the quality of the cuisine unfortunately plummeted... at a table of four, we encountered problems with almost every course. We ordered: - spaghetti with clams, which had very little fish; - fritto misto, which was decidedly unremarkable... basically, a standard frozen fritto misto; - mussels, which were very small. This can be overlooked, knowing that the ingredients depend on the catch of the day, but even these were rather unremarkable; - gilt-head bream, which was objectively well-prepared, but was served completely bare. Until last year, it was accompanied by minimal side dishes (carrots, two lettuce leaves), but this time the plate was desolately empty... except for a slice of polenta (which didn't taste fresh at all); - prawns, the worst note of all. They were full of sand and, even worse, smelled of ammonia. Simply inedible, unfortunately. To top it all off, when we asked for a mixed salad, we were initially told that the kitchen was out of raw vegetables. To be fair, I should point out that they finally managed to bring it to us and didn't include it in the bill, but it's still inconceivable that a restaurant would be without even a minimum amount of fresh vegetables, or that they would say no because they don't have ready-made mixed salads. At a fish dinner, it's paradoxical to have to say that the best thing was the sorbet (a banal commercial product). I only save the waiter's kindness, but after so many years of loyalty, it's sad to see that the place has become unrecognizable. We won't be returning.

16/02/2026: Arrived at 2 pm and there were only 3 cicchetti available (a pittance). The 0.40 cc water (always smaller) cost 2 euros and was billed as 0.50 cc. Extremely annoying.

02/02/2026: The best: tables inside and kind attention. Girls at the bar were kind. Prices are medium/high and they just give you a small bag of patatine with the aperitivo.

16/06/2026: We had a quick gelato. Good & creamy icecream, maybe a tad sweeter than at other places, try the Nutella flavour. Very friendly service, we cannot understand the bad reviews of other people.

07/06/2026: Kindness, friendliness, and excellent pizza. A top location. Coming back is like coming home. A must-see while strolling around.

29/08/2025: Right in the middle of the main square, opposite the basilica, we had some delicious sweets. It's Dolce Vita for life. There's a wide selection, from macarons to tiramisu. The service was very friendly and attentive for the short time we were there. The price was also very reasonable.
