20/01/2025: I would like to point out that the kitchen opens at 12.30 and not at 11 as on their website. Large, bright environment. Friendly staff. Mrs. Lorietta passes between the tables and this makes you feel pampered. The menu is verbal with an appetizer, 3 first courses, 3 second courses and two side dishes of your choice. Well cooked dishes, right portions. No specials. Competitive account also because otherwise few would get up there. Although we had a good time, we will not return because more than 2 hours by car is not worth it

Nice location, the idea is to diversify from the typical trattoria but in the end the rewards are not recognised.
Second courses are better than first courses or starters, mediocre desserts. Experience not to be repeated

10/02/2025: We had lunch with one of the menu options offered, cotolette with fries. Abundant and good flavor. The place is clean, quiet and accompanied by the attention of its waitress who is detailed and pleasant.
The only detail to improve is that it may have been a little too salty.

11/11/2024: I agree a lot with Enrico Iozzi's description. The verdict is less drastic: the food isn't that bad. Let's say that we have little to do with Garfagnana: excellent and similar cured meats can be found throughout Tuscany and throughout Italy. The ones offered were good, yes, but what does mortadella have to do with it? Apart from the cured meats, the rest didn't convince me, not even the very little cheese offered, very fresh and with an indistinct taste. The various croutons and omelettes and spelled, all messed up and not very tasty. They seemed to be intended to act as filler.
In the end, however, we ate almost everything. Lots of bread. Nothing was bad.
We did the complete tasting + glass of red wine, water, neccio with ricotta and coffee, spending €58 for two (I think... more euros less). Sad to say, but the places where you escape with "only" 25 are rare now!
I must add one thing: from a place called "Osteria" I would expect at least some first course, such as tagliatelle with mushrooms, or polenta, or soup, but 'there is no kitchen', whoever told me served, then nothing (I wonder where they cook!).
It's a shame because the atmosphere of the place was pleasant for us.
09/11/2024: Un piccolo locale a Castelnuovo Garfagnana che custodisce e rilancia tutti i prodotti e i sapori tipici della Garfagnana...location spettacolare...bancone in marmo, altissimi scaffali in legno che ospitano super etichette e prodotti di ogni genere di ineccepibile qualità...due padrone di casa, Cinzia e Valentina, che ti propongono un percorso di degustazione che appaga tutti i sensi, dall'insalata di farro, alla polenta, ai crostini misti con la trota, il tartufo e i cannellini con il lardo...salumi indimenticabili...per finire con i dolci...ricotta e cioccolato, fichi e noci...non si può non provare...

18/11/2024: Stanchi della gentilezza di facciata del commerciante medio? Della cucina casalinga e "tradizionale" intrisa di olio? Del conto salato a fronte di un' esperienza deludente? Di una scelta enologica imbarazzante? Allora il vostro posto è questo. Non vediamo l'ora di tornarci!
01/11/2024: Non è un ristorante stellato ma molto di più : è una trattoria piccola ma carina, pulita e ben organizzata con una calda atmosfera accogliente. Ci trovi famigliole con bambini educati e non invadenti. L'accoglienza è cordiale, come da amici, il menu è limitato a poche scelte ma i piatti sono gustosi e veraci, e la qualità è nettamente superiore alla quantità. Il servizio è veloce. Prezzi ragionevoli. Torneremo. Vincenzo e Cecilia.
