16/04/2026: Excellent food and pizza! 🍕 The atmosphere, while not modern, is super welcoming, as is the service, which is fast and attentive. We had a great time, both for the quality of the dishes and the overall atmosphere. Lots of substance, little show, and that's perfect! You can also watch the games while sipping a beer on the comfortable wooden benches. 🍻 Must try!

08/02/2026: I went with my friends a couple of times. I have to say that the pizza is extraordinary, according to my wife (I can't eat it). I ordered the kitchen, and I complimented the EXCELLENT quality, prices above average. Fast service.

24/05/2026: We had lunch today at Antico Castello di Moncalvo, and honestly, after reading some of the reviews, we were a little hesitant... but we had a great time! We ate well, everything was delicious, and the place truly deserves it. Reading some of the reviews, it almost seems like people are expecting a Michelin-starred restaurant... come on 😅 I've read complaints about some dishes arriving quickly, like the risotto. But it's normal for many restaurants to have the rice partially prepared ahead of time to accommodate the service; that doesn't mean it's bad or poorly made. We had a great lunch, the staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was pleasant. Based on our experience, we highly recommend it 😊

20/07/2026: Menu Degustazione with wine pairing was a transformative experience. Omakase - varied chef selected dishes - paced perfectly. Chef baked breads were amazing and paired throughout the dinner. Definitely recommend for a special gastronomic experience.

We chose this restaurant for a birthday dinner and had high expectations, but a few things fell short. The biggest issue was the menu policy. We were told that everyone at the table had to order the same number of courses. While I understand that this may be the restaurant’s policy, I find it unusual for a fine dining restaurant not to offer guests any flexibility. It felt restrictive and took away from the experience. The food itself was a mix. Some dishes were outstanding—creative, beautifully presented, and full of flavor—while others didn’t quite meet the same standard. The atmosphere was also lacking. There were only a few tables occupied, with just one other couple dining, so the restaurant felt rather empty. It was also very warm inside, apparently without air conditioning, and the outdoor seating wasn’t prepared, so we couldn’t comfortably sit outside despite the weather. Finally, the pricing was very high. We spent around €700 for four people, and considering the overall experience, it didn’t feel like good value. Overall, there are certainly some highlights, especially a few of the dishes, but the combination of the rigid dining policy, lack of atmosphere, and the high price meant the evening didn’t live up to our expectations.

05/07/2026: I've read many reviews, and some are truly unfair. The pizza isn't small; it's simply the typical size of a pan pizza, which you'll find in many places that serve farinata (especially in Liguria, and I was pleased to find it in Piedmont as well). The farinata was excellent, well-cooked, and topped with a lovely crunch. The pan pizzas were also very good, slightly different from what we're used to elsewhere, but we enjoyed them. They were both well-seasoned and well-cooked. Their tiramisu and veal with tuna sauce were also good. Those who say they're rude aren't entirely true. We had a lovely chat at the end of the evening, and sometimes I wonder if the customers have unrealistic expectations. The place was clean, and the air conditioning was great. It's true that they don't provide a tablecloth, but a placemat, but then again, that's normal in places that serve pan pizza and farinata. We spent an absolutely perfect amount of money on a dinner out, which these days allows us to go out for dinner one more time (to come back for another farinata on my next diet-free day 😁). I recommend everyone try making farinata in their own oven to see how much effort and work goes into it. And I'm being kind, and I said in the home oven and not in the wood-fired oven because I assure you, that's where heroes come into their own.

01/02/2026: It's a historic restaurant in Asti, but it hasn't evolved at all. The quality has significantly declined, and the space is really cramped, to the point of being, in my opinion, even dangerous in the event of an accident. The pizza, if you like it thin, isn't bad, although I find it a bit bland. The service is fast and the price is fair. Acceptable, but not worth returning to.

30/11/2025: The place is small with tables close together, they work two evening shifts, an old-school pizzeria, crispy thin pizzas without a crust cooked in a wood-fired oven, good and light, after one you'll want to eat another, fried calamari portions are not large and not the best in taste, desserts are store-bought profiteroles, panna cotta (hard) with store-bought sauces, chocolate cake with a soft center not exceptional. The white wine in a carafe is good, the red beer is good, and the prices are also good. I recommend it for eating pizza.

09/11/2025: It's still potentially the best Neapolitan pizza in Asti and the surrounding province, but the place is small and cold in winter. Our last dinner, the pizza was very good; I would have ordered a second one, "warmed" only by an outdoor gas oven, but we left after finishing the first one. I hope things improve; I've enjoyed the pizza here for many years. Update: Nov 25: Improved atmosphere and the pizza is still top-notch.

28/06/2026: My husband and I just had lunch today, Sunday, June 28th, at Locanda Sant'Uffizio for our tenth wedding anniversary. Words can't describe the elegance, professionalism, service, and excellent cuisine. It was our first experience at a 2-Michelin-star restaurant, but it was absolutely worth it. The location was superb, and my heartfelt compliments go to all the staff and to chef Gabriele Boffa, whose dishes made us dream! Thank you for making our day so special!

06/12/2025: A clean environment, walking into a service station and being greeted with a good morning is not for everyone... congratulations also for the delicious cappuccino, freshly baked croissants... The employees are very kind....

26/05/2026: This bar near Moncalvo station is fantastic. We often stop here before continuing on to Alfiano Natta, and it's our go-to spot in the Piedmontese Monferrato area. You feel right at home, and even in the morning, when it's crowded, Paolo and Luisella, the owners, and the entire staff are incredibly kind, attentive, friendly, and efficient. They serve you quickly and with a friendly atmosphere, chatting away the hours.

30/04/2026: I was there a few days ago, stopping by because I was passing through for work. I had a coffee and some cigarettes, nothing special... but the experience was still negative. The service is decidedly unprofessional. The barista (a large, adult woman) was quite rude and inattentive. She was also talking to another customer and, from what I understood, was even saying she was looking for work elsewhere... which left me a bit perplexed while she was serving. I didn't like the atmosphere at all: swearing coming from behind the counter and customers insulting another man sitting behind the counter, zero attention. As a woman, you don't feel at ease; in fact, it feels a bit run-down. Honestly, I've been to much simpler places, but with a much better atmosphere. Unfortunately, not here. It's a shame, because the location would be convenient... but this way, it doesn't make you want to return.

21/12/2025: Interesting, well-presented inn, very beautiful and welcoming, in short. Food A myriad of self-service cold and hot appetizers followed by a first and second course, dessert, coffee, and vino chinato. Despite the number of specialties offered, each is well-curated and beautifully presented. Good, not exceptional, but quite good, as are the first and second courses served al talolo. Excellent quality, home-made wine. A good inn for a nice, yet "demanding" banquet. The wait staff is kind and professional, well done.

20/12/2025: I can confirm the positive reviews I'd read. The staff is extremely friendly. We arrived well after our reservation due to unforeseen circumstances, but they reserved a table for us and we enjoyed our lunch at a leisurely pace. Beautiful location, 80 hot and cold appetizers buffet, a first course, a second course with a side dish, water, their own wine, dessert, coffee, and liqueur for €35.
