25/02/2025: We had dinner in this place, let's say the decor was classic, we chose some typical Piedmontese dishes, veal with tuna sauce, braised ravioli, bagna cauda with vegetables and to try something different we asked for scallops drowned in something I don't remember now, they were on the menu, the smell wasn't very inviting even if the flavor wasn't bad. Let's say that everything was edible, it almost looked like a canteen dinner. I didn't like the veal, it was overcooked and dry, the tuna sauce was sour, the ravioli was hard and the braised meat seasoning was very liquid, when it should have been creamier. Overall I was a little disappointed🙃

16/03/2025: Beautiful and welcoming location. Very attentive and kind staff. Good food, excellent trio of raw meats and paccheri with datterini and pecorino sauce, the slipper is a must. We had chosen another wine, but this one was recommended to us and we loved it.

16/02/2025: ⭐ 1 Star – Disappointing Experience If you enjoy waiting endlessly for your food, struggling to get a waiter’s attention, and being served the wrong dishes at every stage of your meal, then Il Clandestino might be for you. Unfortunately, for those of us who expect even basic hospitality, it’s an overpriced disaster. Even with an advance reservation. Our dinner took an excruciating 2.5 hours, with each course arriving at a glacial pace. The staff were impossible to flag down, and when the food finally arrived, it was wrong every single time. When we politely pointed this out, instead of an apology, the chef’s response was arrogant and dismissive, telling us that if we wanted “express dining,” there were 120 other restaurants in Stresa to choose from. A baffling attitude for a place charging these prices. Fine dining doesn’t mean slow, inattentive service and inflated prices for the privilege of being ignored. Stresa has plenty of fantastic restaurants—unfortunately, this is not one of them. Note: you will see the owner (chef) has responded below. One cannot add any words to this. His attitude and contempt for customers is self evident in his response. Some people are just better off not being in any service business.

25/02/2025: As a good Campana, I highly recommend the spaghetti with clams and samphire, a crazy pleasure for the palate. The bread is very good. Excellent wines. The second courses are tasty, we took the platter with Piedmontese cold cuts and the giardiniera. The excellent cut! All very good! You can eat outdoors overlooking the river and a lovely garden. The staff is really kind. Highly recommended.

25/01/2025: Ottimo ristorante che unisce un’ottima cucina a una cura impeccabile per la presentazione dei piatti. L’ambiente è elegante ma accogliente, perfetto per una serata tra amici. La cucina si distingue per l’uso di ingredienti freschi e di alta qualità, combinati in modo creativo e saporito. Ogni portata non è solo un piacere per il palato, ma anche per gli occhi: i piatti sono serviti con grande attenzione ai dettagli. Il servizio è impeccabile, con personale cortese e preparato, sempre pronto a consigliare i migliori abbinamenti tra cibo e vino. Le porzioni sono equilibrate e il rapporto qualità-prezzo è ottimo, considerando l’elevata qualità dell’esperienza complessiva. Un ristorante che non delude e lascia la voglia di tornarci presto.

24/01/2025: Substantial restaurant. We tasted a selection of crudités, octopus salad with vegetables, potatoes and green sauce and Apulian bread croutons with burrata, tuna tartare and fried Tropea onion. All very good. Equipped cellar.

01/03/2025: Classy, ​​high class restaurant, excellent place, service with attention to the smallest details, super efficient waiters with an extremely refined appearance, the presentation of the place and the execution of the service is then accompanied by the very high quality food, a perfect combination in my opinion, easy to find and equally simple parking, the historic center of a small village just outside Asti, 5 stars more than deserved, perfect restaurant for a special dinner for a couple, high quality cuisine and perfect hospitality, you cannot ask for more from a restaurant of this standard.

08/02/2025: Locale elegantissimo. Entrata con contrabbasso in bella vista e scalinata in cima alla quale veniamo accolti. Sala minimal con grande cura dei dettagli. Menù dalla terra al mare, 6 portate ( + benvenuto e pre dessert) alternate davvero squisite, in particolare l ovetto e lo spaghetto. Servizio garbato e molto professionale. Molto bravi

Fast service and very competitive prices. Unfortunately I also had a dessert (excellent) which cost me almost half of the first course menu. I recommend it

26/02/2025: Frequented this place several times in recent years; I perceived a drop in the level, especially from the point of view of speed and quality of service. The pizza tasted very good but I had a stomach ache all evening, so perhaps leavening problems (?). All in all, a nice environment to dine in but perhaps I wouldn't recommend it for anything "more".

The fish as always super fresh and everything delicious, the dishes always revised and with truly fantastic combinations. I recommend everything but those who appreciate crudité will have fun here.
