02/05/2026: I'm only reviewing the restaurant because I didn't stay. May 2, 2026, on a long weekend that feels like summer. Reserved the day before. Quick, courteous, and thorough service. Complete. Abundant and truly tasty dishes. I'd only give the linguine a little more attention (a little too al dente for my taste). The peppered mussels were amazing. Good price. Definitely worth returning.

06/07/2026: It was absolutely terrible. The portion size wasn't specified. There were three adults and a child, and we each ordered a portion of spaghetti. As it turned out, they brought a single portion meant for eight people—and they were walking around laughing about it! I do NOT recommend this place.

20/06/2026: The misto pesce marinato was super fresh and the off-menu lobster linguine was excellent. Just one tip: ask the price on the off-menu dishes beforehand, as they can run a bit pricey.

18/06/2026: The seafood appetizers and first courses are excellent and slightly cheaper than the waterfront restaurants. I recommend the mixed seafood appetizer (€13) and the octopus and potatoes (€12), which were incredibly tender. The only downside is that we ate in the evening in the square, and it was a shame to have insects practically inside our plates; each outdoor table has its own light that attracts them… I recommend mosquito coils or similar.

03/06/2026: Excellent place, good vibes.. very personal attention and got vegetarian food on request. The couple Eliza and Mattio very cordial.. were pleasantly to have such good food in Santa Margerita much need to make previous booking though.

05/07/2026: I've spent the day at the beach club in Chiavari several times in the past, and I've always eaten at this restaurant, where I remember always having good food. I would have loved to confirm this memory, but unfortunately yesterday morning, when we stopped by to reserve a table for lunch, the owner denied us the opportunity because one of my friends was wearing a tank top and, he said, a t-shirt was required. I should point out that it was lunch, not dinner, and that my friend, a grown man, not a 14-year-old, certainly wasn't wearing a ripped, fluorescent Ibiza clubbing tank top with his chest exposed, but simply a men's, plain-colored, wide-shouldered tank top; nothing unusual or inappropriate for someone going to the beach and looking for a place to have lunch. But no, the owner specified that if he couldn't change (I don't know if you're used to carrying a shirt in your beach backpack, just in case; we weren't aware of this Chiavari custom), he'd apologize, but he couldn't take our reservation. It's curious that his employee (who, for the record, was very kind, and who had initially accepted our reservation, but was promptly reprimanded by her boss, who promptly jumped in to kick us out) was setting the tables this morning wearing a spaghetti-style tank top, completely low-cut. I personally fully support this in 35-degree heat, but I wonder where this double standard from his boss comes from. In any case, we thank him because thanks to his refusal, we discovered a delightful little restaurant nearby, Marea, where we had the pleasure of leaving our €200-odd bill for three of us for two days straight. I recommend it if you don't plan on going to the beach in a tailcoat but still want a good lunch.

01/07/2026: Everything was perfect, except for the heat... under the umbrellas in the square, it was tough even in the evening, but we enjoyed it. A delicious pan-fried seafood platter... it lacked a bit of salt, but that's a matter of taste. The grilled sea bass was outstanding... with live cleaning. A very speckled guy (due to the heat, poor thing) cleaned the fish perfectly. We finished with a peach and ice cream sundae or strawberries and ice cream. Coffee and coffee... if it weren't for the price, it would be repeated night after night. But I have to say, money well spent... I'll make do for a while. Compliments to the chef.

22/07/2026: We traveled through Italy for 3 weeks and ate incredibly well in many places, but here was without a doubt the best of all. From the service to the dishes, everything was simply top-notch.

04/07/2026: Friendly service, very good pizzas and pasta, but pizzas are only served in the evening. One of the waiters speaks French.

01/07/2026: My go-to restaurant when I'm in town. I can wholeheartedly recommend it! 549 pizzas on the menu!!!! And the prices are ridiculously low. A large pizza costs between €8 and €13. And the taste… 🥰 made by the pizza master! Seriously, I'm there, you have to go. And there are beautiful, ancient olive trees in the parking lot. Simply amazing.

05/07/2026: It may sound trite, but the location is breathtaking and absolutely worth it! The staff is very kind and friendly, and I thank them very much for accommodating my request for a table on the terrace. The food is good, maybe not excellent, but as a vegetarian, I can't speak for the quality of the grilled meat and fish. The price is absolutely fair. Recommended!

08/07/2026: It was a wonderful evening, we ate very well, the tables outside have a quiet atmosphere, not to mention the service which was very fast and very attentive.

08/07/2026: TOP RESTAURANT!!! Exceptional food, our waitress was super nice, kind, and very helpful. It's truly the Portofino atmosphere.

29/04/2026: The view is truly stunning and definitely a highlight. Unfortunately, the service was temperamental and inattentive, which significantly marred the overall impression. A real shame.

19/05/2026: If you are staying in Monterosso or even traveling to Cinque Terre, Il Casello is a must visit! We stopped here the first night and were lucky enough to get a table outside without a reservation (definitely call ahead if you can). We were promptly greeted by friendly servers and sat with a spectacular view. Great selection of wine and food. The first night we had the stuffed mussels and then the gnocchi and local fish with lemon sauce. Everything was absolutely delicious! Finished with their house made tiramisu which was spectacular. One of the owners, Jennifer, was so great and made sure that everything was perfect. We came back on our last night because we loved it so much. We had the award wining stuffed anchovies (highly recommend!!) and the octopus ragu pasta and the seafood spaghetti. Again, everything was terrific. You cannot beat the service, the view, and the food. Cannot recommend this place enough! We cannot wait to come back once we are able to visit Cinque Terre again. Thank you Jennifer!

22/07/2026: We return to this restaurant every time we're in Liguria. It's one of those places that, once discovered, you can't live without it. The location is meticulously designed, managing to make you feel at home while remaining elegant. Mary's hospitality makes everything even more special. While you enjoy the sea on one side, an imposing rock face surrounds the restaurant on the other. While you enjoy a good glass of wine, chosen from an extensive and interesting wine list, you can savor dishes of indescribable delicacy. They are the result of a cuisine perfectly conceived and created by Chef Giorgio. Furthermore, the freshness of the ingredients and the innovation of the recipes are definitely noteworthy. In short, this restaurant is much more than a must-see destination; it's a true treat.

05/05/2026: I've been several times on different trips and always want to go back. The food is very good, it's very clean (which isn't very common in Italy), and the service is excellent. The price is very reasonable for the quality.
