A delightful spot in the countryside, beautiful inside and magnificent outside, with refined, expertly prepared, traditional yet unpretentious cuisine, and fast, friendly service. A testament to life and love for the local area. With a visit to the Samnite sanctuary and the medieval village of Vastogirardi, it's a perfect day out.

13/10/2025: A very well-kept restaurant with exceptional customer service. Excellent table service with detailed explanations of the dishes and the wine selection. Distinctive, as its name suggests, offers a selection of unusual and never banal dishes using local ingredients. An experience to remember and highly recommended! Lovers of platters should abstain! I'm intentionally adding very few photos so as not to spoil any pleasant surprises! Well done!

The owner's warmth and friendliness make you feel at ease, and his expert advice makes everything simple and enjoyable. An experience to repeat!

24/07/2026: We had dinner last night at this Osteria, recommended by the hotel where we were staying. Extraordinary hospitality, excellent local food, and Daniel, a friendly person, ready to accommodate every request. A very pleasant and quiet place. We highly recommend it. Top!

15/07/2026: I've been to Elicriso several times and can confidently say it's a guarantee for any type of cuisine. As a Campanian, I'm quite picky when it comes to pizza, but here I found it truly excellent: light dough, high-quality ingredients, and flavors. The meat is also truly excellent, as is the excellent fish, both in the first and second courses. Special mention goes to the local dishes, such as "Dov'è il Tartufo," which I highly recommend to anyone who wants to savor local specialties. The staff is always extremely kind, friendly, and attentive, making you feel at home. Having been there several times, I've had the opportunity to try much of the menu, and I can say that every experience has lived up to expectations. A restaurant I would recommend without hesitation to anyone in the Macchia d'Isernia area. Kudos to the entire staff!

09/08/2026: Over the past five years, it's become a ritual, after watching Napoli's Castel di Sangro training camp go to Mr. Nicola and his wife. On the human side, they're both incredibly helpful, guiding you from the phone reservation to the restaurant where they delight you with traditional Molise cuisine. Their dishes reflect the passion, love, and tradition for what they do! Regarding the debate about the sacrifices made in the kitchen, I can tell you from the bottom of my heart that success isn't about how much money you earn, but the difference you make in people's lives—and believe me, even in your own small way, you make a difference!

08/08/2026: A unique experience... let's start from the beginning when, next to the restaurant, a woman and a young man—who we later discovered were a mother and son—stopped us before entering, advising us against the place. Incredulous and bewildered by this attitude and by the insistence of these two individuals, clearly in bad faith and in conflict with the establishment (labeling it with endless negative connotations), we refused to be swayed, and once we parked the car outside, we went inside. We immediately found ourselves in front of a family-run restaurant and were welcomed wonderfully. We asked to dine outside because we wanted to enjoy the fresh air of this area during this time of year, and we were immediately granted our request. We enjoyed an excellent local wine, a platter of quality cured meats and cheeses, but our eyes were wide open when we tasted the truffle ravioli with goat cheese. Since there were five of us, we also enjoyed the wild boar pappardelle and pork shank, all delicious. The dessert didn't disappoint either; the tiramisu and caprese were TOP. The owners of the osteria apologized several times for the rude and annoying presence of these two people standing outside, who were clearly embarrassing them. It became clear that since they had sold the business to them, they were suffering from their success and were trying in every way to discredit them... but it had the opposite effect... at least with us, because their insistence was what drew us there and piqued our curiosity. We were offered wine and liqueurs, I think because they realized that we were actually turning their embarrassment into a strength because we were laughing like crazy. It was an unexpected event; we've been going to Castel di Sangro for four years, and starting next year, it will be a regular stop because it's wonderful.
