24/04/2024: We had dinner on a midweek day in a period of not particular tourist influx.
Despite some of the ingredients running out and consequent variations in the dishes, the quality of the food compared to the price was more than satisfactory.
In this specific area of Pisa the prices are much higher and this place is an excellent compromise for savoring traditional Tuscan dishes at an affordable price.
Note of thanks to the friendliness and kindness of the innkeeper (Ste, if I understood correctly when he was called from the kitchen :)
30/03/2024: Piatti tipici della cucina toscana, in particolare davvero ottimo il mucco pisano. Abbiamo preso un tagliere contadino, il crostone al tartufo, una tartara di mucco e i tordelli al ragù di mucco: tutto davvero buonissimo. Il proprietario accogliente e gentilissimo. Ci torneremo sicuramente.

03/05/2024: I went to this restaurant with a class, we were 17 students and three teachers. We ate taking advantage of the 4 fixed menus offered. Good quality and more than enough portions to feed the kids. They put us in the basement near the cellar, so very nice and the place is also quiet. Thank you

04/04/2024: The best gastronomic experience in Italy. Local restaurant with very well prepared food, all the dishes were delicious. Excellent service, super friendly. The atmosphere is very local and you will feel like you are part of Italian culture.

The food is great and it's pretty easy to find something you like (although I don't recommend the coffee).

29/03/2024: quality food, and portions suitable for the type of restaurant, very refined and elegant, friendly and very kind staff, they explain the dishes to you in detail, very good wine, I highly recommend
20/03/2024: Although a pretty environment, the food and service does not live up to its reputation. The bread put on the table was stale and old, the amuse of potato soup was lackluster, the starter of crispy sausage etc wrapped in phyllo was the best part of the meal as the parpadelle with wild boar was dry and farely tasteless. In fact, I am pretty sure nothing wild ever saw that plate. Dessert of milk pudding with caramel and fruit was just ok. Cannot recommend at this price point.

31/03/2024: Easter meal, fixed menu, with excellent tastings, both starters and first and second courses. Very good, well balanced flavors and presentation. Sweet ending. Portions more than sufficient, even abundant. All very good. Friendly and courteous staff. We recommend it

01/05/2024: Terrible service and equally bad food! we arrived (with a reservation for 6) and had to wait standing because none of the staff knew where our table was (despite there being a single table for 6 free). Not to mention the order...we waited an hour, if not more, for each course and when the starters arrived, one of them always had frozen mushrooms! The first ones were even worse, pasta with Chianina ragù was not ragù and was visibly raw as you can see in the photo! For the second course, however, meat was visibly cooked the day before and heated on the spot, bread that was supposed to be grilled arrived burnt black, when we pointed this out the waitress continued to argue by saying that the toasted bread should have looked like this!
Other tables pointed out errors in the dishes and general discontent with the wait and quality of the dishes!
End of the day total spend €210 and we left with a pit in our stomach!
AVOID THIS PLACE!!!!

08/05/2024: There were five of us here. All of our pizzas were okay to good. The service was quick and friendly and spoke English quite well. We would have expected a little more from the food, but we weren't annoyed about eating there either.

26/02/2024: Dopo molto tempo sono ritornata in questo ristorante e all'accoglienza neppure un "Buonasera". Il ragazzo ci ha rivolto parola solo dopo avergli detto che avevamo prenotato.
L'ordine lo abbiamo preso quasi subito perchè eravamo in pochi, ma dopo poco iniziano i problemi con il servizio. Nessuno dei ragazzi segue dall'inizio alla fine il tavolo, sono confusi e si dimenticano di portare quello che hai ordinato, ma sono velocissimi a segnarlo sul tavolo virtuale!
Abbiamo chiesto un secondo calice di vino e si sono dimenticati, lo abbiamo ricordato nuovamente. Abbiamo chiesto un'altra acqua naturale e l'hanno portata frizzante. Abbiamo chiesto la carte dei dolci e si sono dimenticati nuovamente, per poi chiamare il cameriere per ricordarglielo. Poi sperare di fermarne un altro per ordinarlo, che si dimentica e nel frattempo vedere arrivare
al tavolo accanto al nostro dolci che avevano ordinato dopo di noi.
Dopo 20 minuti ricordiamo il dolce ad un altro cameriere (perchè appunto nessuno ti segue) e viene fuori che lo stanno preparando. Finalmente arriva l'ultima portata e andiamo via.
Personale smemorato e confuso.
Aggiungo che quando abbiamo preso l'ordine non avevamo compreso la questione peso del pezzo di carne ed abbiamo chiesto chiarimenti al ragazzo che nel frattempo era venuto a portarci il pane. Questo ha chiamato il collega con il quale avevamo preso l'ordine riferendogli il nostro dubbio e si sono messi a ridacchiare quasi a prendere per i fondelli.
A mio parere il servizio è importante tanto quanto il cibo e dopo questa esperienza, non sono invogliata a ritornare.

26/03/2024: I frequented this restaurant a couple of years ago, with my husband, everything was absolutely perfect. Chef Rossi is the Chagall of the dish. We are about to return after the Easter holidays.
25/03/2024: I can only speak well of the dream lived at Pepenero... A set of flavors to try and let yourself be pampered by the staff who are always attentive to every need... Thanks also to Gilberto Rossi
