22/09/2025: A true pearl of Ischia! At Trattoria da Peppina di Renato we finally felt we had found the real Italy. The atmosphere was a feast for the senses: authentic, steeped in history and tradition, with every detail in the décor arranged with taste and passion. Francesco, with his stories, guided us not only through the dishes but also through the soul of the island: its soil, its wines, and the deep roots of its cuisine. It felt as though we had been welcomed into the living memory of a family. The grandmother’s meatballs with pine nuts, in their rich tomato sauce, captured me from the very first bite. I truly felt as if they had been prepared by a nonna herself, with that love and patience only a grandmother can give. I can say, without exaggeration, that I had never tasted anything so delicious, so tender, so perfectly balanced. Then came the pasta with rabbit sauce and herbs. Wonderful! Followed by the traditional Ischian rabbit dish, which I had longed to try since arriving on the island. It was intensely aromatic, served with real, rustic fried potatoes. And yes, we followed Francesco’s advice: we even did "la scarpetta"!!! Dipping bread into the rabbit sauce was a revelation. We paired the meal with a local Biancolella, produced just a few houses up the hill: fresh, crisp, and mineral, with that volcanic rock note that gives Ischia its name as the "green island". The evening ended with two special digestifs. One was made of arugula, unique and vibrant, and the other was Piperna, a true spirit of the island. A must try! This was not just dinner, but a journey into tradition, authenticity, and warmth. Thank you from the heart for an unforgettable evening. We will carry this inspiration back to our own little Italian restaurant in Germany, and we hope to return soon, at least once more, to relive this magic.

12/09/2025: Wonderful evening. Professional and very helpful staff. Excellent food quality and absolutely reasonable prices. What more can I say... the tradition and history of Ischian cuisine with expertly combined reinterpretations. The place is beautiful and exudes joy with a hint of nostalgia... all accompanied by the greatest voice and guitar on the island of Ischia. Well done guys (did you give your lighter back?)

02/05/2026: I've been to this place 3 or 4 times. Some dishes are really overflowing with oil, like the pork with peppers and potatoes. Others, I have to say, are quite good. But what will keep me from returning is the lack of cleanliness. The waitress dropped a knife while carrying clean cutlery from the kitchen to the dining room outside. She went back, picked it up, and instead of taking it to be washed, she put it in the drawer with the clean cutlery, knowing full well that anyone could see it. So, I can't imagine what can happen in a kitchen where customers can't see it! The previous time, I didn't like the fact that the paper tablecloth where other people had previously eaten was simply shaken out instead of being changed (the tablecloth was stained with sauce as well as having crumbs). So, we moved to a table where no one had yet eaten. We definitely won't be returning.

28/04/2026: Top hospitality, staff always smiling and ready to accommodate our requests. Professional, kind, and welcoming. The owner was available to show us around the property. I recommend it as a restaurant, pub, and pizzeria. Excellent pizza, excellent sandwiches, and excellent beers. Excellent food at lunch.

06/04/2026: Unfortunately, my experience with this dish was terrible. The plate was literally infested with clam shells shattered into tiny pieces. Eating was impossible because with every bite, you risked chewing sharp fragments. This excessive fragility of the shells is a clear sign of an aged product and poor handling in the kitchen. It is unacceptable that a customer should spend time "straining" food with their teeth instead of enjoying their meal. Highly discouraged; the quality of the raw materials and attention to customer safety were completely lacking.

04/05/2026: The panzerotto was excellent, replacing a first course! The staff was helpful, extremely kind, and very professional. One of the diners had an eggplant allergy, so they fried the panzerotto in a separate fryer.

07/05/2026: My wife and I made a reservation just after opening. The tables downstairs were already filled, as a light rain was falling. We were led upstairs through a half empty room of tables for two or four people, then into another room that was obviously for large parties. We were sat at the end of a table set for ten. The waiter felt the need to sing loudly every time he entered the room. We came for the history and the pizza, not dinner theater. We asked for the house wine, he said they don't do house wine. I asked for a wine list and ordered a very nice white and we ordered two pizzas. In the 50 minutes we waited for our food we noticed that almost everyone seated around us was a foreign tourist, like us. When the pizzas arrived, the margarita pizza was okay, but the second pie had the ham piled in the just in the middle, resulting in the center crust being under baked. We went down stairs to pay the bill, and my wife asked where the bathroom was. The staff laughed and said upstairs. I'm glad I paid more for the wine than the pizzas, as it was the best part of the meal.

19/05/2026: Franco is the best service master. Engaging & fun. Made the perfect food recommendations. Owner also very attentive. Even with a large group of 35+ seated around the same time, our service never felt delayed or dismissed.

11/06/2026: The seafood cuoppo isn't bad, but although it looks "full," underneath the fish are two balls of fried bread and a mixed fish and breadcrumb croquette (like a fish croquette). I don't think it's fair to hide them to make the fried food look more generous. The seafood cuoppo costs €10.

31/05/2026: Very nice, unique place, local food. We ate cavatelli with puleio, a local aromatic herb. Cod alla pertecaregna was excellent. Good cuts of meat and well-prepared vegetables. Guitar music played in the background with traditional Neapolitan pieces, kindly played by an elderly gentleman. We will definitely be back.

25/04/2026: A delicious lunch with a house antipasto, ravioli with walnuts and cheese, and a large 700-gram steak—all very good. The place is unique, resembling a small square with a fake balcony inside, where clothes are hung out to dry. Lunch was enlivened by the music of a kind gentleman playing the guitar.

07/04/2026: Stayed a night last week. Very different feel ie ambience, interiors. Room was top draw - adequate space, super clean (linen and bath). Staff were amazing - the young lady that checked us in, the gentleman that helped with parking. It's a 3 minute walk to the promenade. Quite a few restaurants and bars there. The bus stop (serving towns around Amalfi) is just outside the hotel, bus tickets can be bought from the shop opposite the bus stop. Bar was alright at the hotel, not a big one, again, very different charm. Considering we booked this 30 minutes before checking in, the stay was a very pleasant experience. Parking (garage) is available in the hotel at an additional charge looks like 3-4 cars can be parked, we used the hotel parking space. There's also a parking area outside the hotel.

04/04/2026: Very nice, clean hotel, well located near the beach, restaurants, bus, and ferry. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet could have been a bit more varied.

13/05/2026: We went to this trattoria on the recommendation of a Neapolitan friend... we wanted something to eat, but not too much, then Enzo recommended the pasta alla Nerano, something we Turin natives had never heard of. We tried it, and it was definitely worth it. We even mopped up the bread with the bread. We had a choice of side dishes, and we ordered cod, swordfish, and meatballs in tomato sauce... all delicious. Within 10 minutes, we were friends with Enzo and all the other customers... a family atmosphere.

07/09/2025: Spectacular location overlooking the Aragonese Castle, beautiful sea. Excellent food, very friendly and helpful staff, from the waiter Mario to the lifeguard. Average prices and excellent quality. We'll definitely be back.

01/06/2026: The food was very good, but be careful with the final bill. They added extra items to it that we didn't have, totaling more than 60 euros.

30/05/2026: The staff was attentive and fast. The Ceasar salad had iceberg lettuce. The one green that has little nutritional value. Do better in my opinion. The caprese did not have the best tomatoes. It was okay but I've had way better in so many Italian restaurants in Italy. And I love the tomatoes of Italy.
