12/10/2025: We sat for a coffe and sweet desert. The view was wonderful at the afternoon. The cheesecake was horrible, stale. The spoon for the capuccino was dirty and reused. The cappuccino had something like crumbs . I woudnt recomend the place except for the view

12/10/2025: Unfortunately, I can't say anything about the food, drinks, or service — because we never got the chance to try them. My wife and I were visiting beautiful Varenna and decided to sit down at this bar to enjoy the view.
However, the bartender was incredibly unwelcoming and told us we couldn't sit at the table we had chosen — without giving any clear reason. We asked about another table, and again were told no, for no understandable explanation.
The overall attitude was so unpleasant that we left and found a lovely bar just across the street, where the staff was kind, the drinks were great, and we actually felt welcome.
To this place — we wish you the best of luck… though with that kind of tourist-trap attitude, we hope people choose better.

14/11/2025: When you arrive by train, when getting off in the city, this is the first cafe/restaurant you come across, since you are quite tired, most people just continue on their way inside, you don't even realize you are entering a cafe. The staff at least at the entrance is quite rude, as if they are guards in a prison and not waiters, etc., they shout if you pass the bar, they grab your hand, a very unpleasant experience, because when entering they demand that you immediately go to the bar to order whatever. A very bad experience, because it was not wiped properly I stained my jacket with whipped cream. There are many nice restaurants further along the beach in the town itself, don't go into this first cafe.
05/11/2025: The view in this pub is breathtaking. You could spend half the day here enjoying an Aperol.

07/11/2025: We stopped by Nilu’s Bar in Verena on a rainy afternoon when most of our planned restaurants were either closed or fully booked — and it turned out to be a great choice!
To start, we ordered drinks — I had a tropical fruit punch and my husband had martini. Both were excellent. For lunch, we tried the bruschetta with mozzarella and a prawn sandwich, which were delicious, well-prepared, and nicely presented.
For dessert, we went for a Nutella dark chocolate crepe, and honestly, it was the star of the meal — absolutely delightful!
The restaurant setup was cozy and inviting, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall, a pleasant surprise and a lovely experience despite the rainy weather. Highly recommended if you’re in the area!
29/10/2025: Great location. Tried it for an afternoon snack, with the sweet crepes. Plenty of choice, and the crepes were delicious and beautifully presented. Looking at the menu, it's worth noting that the cocktails are reasonably priced compared to other restaurants and bars nearby. I think it's a good place to have an aperitivo.

08/02/2026: The only positive note is the view, the location, so to speak. Otherwise, it's poor, the service is beyond reproach, and the price is too high for two Aperols (22 euros), not even a goldsmith's goldsmith.
I don't recommend it.

30/04/2025: On a trip from Milan to Varenna, we had a pleasant lunch, savoring the local flavors. A shared mixed antipasto (more than enough for two), two very generous Borgovino tagliatelle (unique), two glasses of wine, water, and coffee.
80 euros.
Tastes I'm not used to, but truly surprising. Generous portions for the price, and excellent, welcoming, and friendly service.
18/04/2025: Delicious, freshly cooked food in homely atmosphere in a place of too many tourist restaurants. Authentic!

08/01/2026: I hadn't read the reviews before going, but all in all, it could have been worse, based on other comments. The aperitif with two platters was not cheap, but it was reasonable for the location.
The service was a bit distracted, the place was a bit cold inside, and the stove alone wasn't enough.
And - above all - the bathroom without hot water was a pitiful sight. It's the details of the vaults that make you stand out.

09/07/2025: Bella location. Servizio adeguato. Qualità del cibo discreta. Troppo caro per rapporto qualità/ prezzo. Ho chiesto una bottiglia di sauvignon che abitualmente costa 18€ ed è stata pagata 70€!!!
29/06/2025: El servicio y la vista eran inigualables e increíbles. La zona exterior era genial, pero también lo son la mayoría de los restaurantes en Varenna. La única queja era que la relación cantidad-precio era criminal. Terminé yendo a un segundo restaurante después para pizza y ensalada. Que este restaurante no tenía en el menú. La pasta de langosta era sabrosa, pero solo tenía un pequeño trozo de langosta y muy poca pasta todo por 37 euros. Los raviolis que sirvieron a mi esposa necesitaban salsa. Estaba un poco seco. Solo le dieron cuatro piezas de raviolis por 24 euros. Lo más divertido es que cobraban 10 euros por manteles Coperto que le llaman y 8 euros por un solo vaso de agua para compartir. Voy a Nueva York y otras ciudades caras con restaurantes de alta gama, y en términos de porción - a - precio, esto fue el peor hasta ahora

26/06/2025: La comida terrible, el peor Melanzane que he visto, era diminuta y parecía que había estado en espera desde las 9 de la mañana, papilla seca y fría, 14. 50 euros por eso. La pizza estaba fría y he comido pizzas caseras más sabrosas al horno. La pizza cuesta 13 . 50 euros. Nos cobró 40 euros por la factura así que 12 euros de entrega. No te sientas tentado a pedir vino, son 30 euros la botella

01/05/2025: Mentre aspettiamo il traghetto, entriamo in questo locale perché a mia figlia serve il bagno. Chiedo un caffè e mi rispondono che non fanno servizio al banco. Chiedo per il bagno e vedo un cartello che dice che bisogna pagare 2 euro per la toilette. Il signore alla cassa mi dice con poca cortesia che posso comprare una bottiglietta d’acqua a 2 euro da pagare però solo in contanti. Davvero un modo poco gentile per accogliere dei turisti!

Una delle peggiori esperienze mai vissute in un ristorante.
l’unica cosa “accogliente” è stato il silenzio glaciale all’ingresso. Nessuno che ti consideri, nessuno che ti accompagni al tavolo: sei solo. O quasi. Perché uno dei gestori si diverte a sparlare alle spalle dei clienti con toni derisori e poco graziati, credendo forse di essere invisibile. Triste spettacolo.
Il locale è sporco:, bicchieri con patine strane e precedenti aloni di labbra altrui, atmosfera trascurata. L’insalata marcia sembrava direttamente uscita da un bidone dell’umido. Il menage (olio, aceto, sale) impresentabile: bottiglie unte, olio travasato di dubbia provenienza, lontano anni luce da qualsiasi extravergine.
E poi il vino: annacquato, privo di sapore e dignità. Un affronto al palato e al buon senso.
In sintesi: qualità inesistente, ambiente sgradevole, comportamento del personale inaccettabile. Un’esperienza da evitare accuratamente; per citare le esatte parole di quando ci siamo alzati dal tavolo da chi era ad aspettare di prendere solo i soldi di quel pessimo cibo:
- ci leviamo dalle ........ molto volentieri. Con la speranza che presto possiate evitare di continuare a somministrare porcheria, un caro saluto.
Unfriendly staff, dirty glasses, and rotten salad served as if it were fresh. One of the staff members mocked customers behind their backs—completely unprofessional. The olive oil was suspicious, the wine watered down, and the overall quality was terrible. A truly disappointing experience.
