11/07/2025: If you are doing a trip to Lake Como and this hotel works within your budget, BOOK IT NOW. From research it seemed like Varenna was the best place to stay, and I can confirm it definitely was. As far as where to stay in Varenna itself, you can’t beat this location. Easy walk to all the main sights, restaurants, and transportation options. Beyond location, the hotel itself was perfection. Stunning views and photo ops, incredible staff, it was clean, AC worked great, and food options were all a big win (breakfast was a highlight every day - don’t skip the freshly squeezed orange justice) and it was overall just a beautiful hotel. If I ever have the opportunity to come back to Lake Como, staying at HRV is a non-negotiable.

08/07/2025: Exceptional restaurant! Very few like it remain! Dinner featuring spaghetti allo scoglio, undoubtedly among the best I've ever tasted. Generous portions and excellent value. We sincerely hope this isn't, as has unfortunately been announced, the restaurant's last season for non-hotel guests. It would be a real shame to lose a little gem like this restaurant, with its fabulous view and sunset over the upper Lario. We would definitely return without hesitation, especially considering the very kind and courteous staff.

01/07/2025: This review is specifically for the restaurant. Friendly and accommodating staff, fantastic food. We were 4 adults and 2 children - we felt welcomed and enjoyed our evening. Highly recommend for dinner (you may need a reservation) and would return.

08/07/2025: Unfortunately, no comment can be made on the quality of the food. The friendliness of the service was subpar. After waiting for several minutes, despite many empty tables (without reservation signs), no table was offered, but a wait of 20 minutes was stated.

04/07/2025: Beautiful terrace right on the street, centrally located. We don't quite understand the good reviews. In contrast to other restaurants, the service was rather lackluster. The fried seafood was deep-fried, and the salmon was completely dry. Our appetizer of Parma ham with mushrooms was served without them, with the note that they were sold out. Only after we looked at him in surprise did he offer to bring melon as an alternative.

26/07/2025: The hotel is supposedly renovated, but in my opinion, it lacked a designer's touch. The furniture in both the restaurant and the rooms completely doesn't match the style of the rooms. Room cleaning also requires more attention. Breakfast is sufficient, and the view from the restaurant is priceless. The major drawbacks include the ineffective air conditioning. Fortunately, it wasn't too hot, so it was bearable.

21/06/2025: Amazing place. We were served by a really capable and kind waiter. He made us feel like we were at grandma's house. Pampered and spoiled. Superb food, excellent paranza, very good thin pizza and good quality of raw materials. I will return and recommend it..

20/04/2025: Ate with family on Easter Sunday Compliments Excellent food. Generous servings and always available for an encore. The sciatt, the risotto and the rustic ravioli are truly top. The service was very attentive to never miss anything, even though the room was full. Family atmosphere, to make you say: "we will definitely be back". The only flaw is the parking Honest bill in relation to the quality/quantity of the food

17/06/2025: I was looking for the phone number to go back and I realized I hadn't reviewed it... quickly done: convenient parking at off-peak times and periods, but a walk is also good for appetite and digestion. Neat location and attentive service never pushy. Food (sciat, cured meats, risotto with perch) well executed and with a very balanced flavor. Really good.

01/06/2025: After my positive stay last year, this year I have to give a bad review, on the blackboard outside there was a list of sandwiches so we went in for lunch and were told that they don't make sandwiches, we still took two platters each without drinking since we already had three bottles of water that we had bought from them before starting the walk a couple of hours before. The first thing that really annoyed us was the way we were scolded for joking by "lying down" on the bench after seeing two cushions, however we apologized but the owner didn't want to get the irony and scolded us in a bad way, the two platters arrived quite abundant even if with little cheese, the cured meats were good, we went to pay and were asked if we had also added water and we replied that we had already had them before entering the restaurant. We leave the place and head towards the car parked in front, after about two minutes we see the cashier running after us all out of breath insinuating that we hadn't paid for the water and that it was the colleague who had brought it to the table with the cutting boards... we repeat again that we already had it, and that we would have paid it back in case they didn't remember or to avoid mix-ups, but they preferred to raise a fuss and make all the people on the veranda who were calmly having lunch turn around, the waiter in the end tried to apologize to the customers blaming us for being rude, as if paying for the water twice by their mistake was normal. The next time we visit the Piani dei Resinelli, we will avoid this place regardless, especially for the poor quality of the service.

13/07/2025: Sunday lunch, decent menu and medium-high prices but in line with the standard. The kitchen's time management could be improved: the dishes all arrived at different times, so much so that some had already finished and others hadn't even started eating yet. The perch risotto was good, but a little overcooked. It's a shame the pizza oven isn't open at lunchtime. The service was a bit timid and awkward, but overall good.
