13/06/2026: Update: the manager pulled me aside for a chat. It was strange but at least showed he very much cared. I’ve updated my rating as such, but maintain that you are paying essentially double what you might elsewhere, for the view. If you’re happy to do that, you’ll be happy here. Beyond the genuinely stunning views, this place is really nothing special. The rooms are very basic, but they’re charging a premium price for what’s outside the window. The maid and cleaning service is great (but be warned laundry is very expensive though that’s not uncommon). It’s all just adequate. Not really any particularly special amenities. Not carefully designed (at least compared to many other hotels I’ve stayed at in the country). Very spotty WiFi which I thought was just the area but the public WiFi worked better in Monterosso. The parking was a nightmare and they do not provide useful instructions for finding it. If this was a $300-$400 a night hotel, it would be perfect; but it’s a $700-$800 a night hotel and is thus in my opinion, overpriced. If you plan on exploring the area, you can get the same views for free (or even for dinner) and skip the hefty price tag. Regarding staying in Portovenere. It’s beautiful, obviously. Stunning. As are the other 5 cities and at least 2 have a bit more going on and a lot more convenience. Portovenere is near impossible to get to after 9pm (for the price, it would be ideal if the hotel would offer some sort of shuttle service even for an extra cost). It’s clearly a perfect city for weekenders looking to escape most of the tourism (though a surprising amount still exists here). But maybe not for first-timers to the area looking to explore. Overall, fine hotel, but it just isn’t bringing the value it requests.

07/06/2026: We spent two days in Portovenere and on Sunday we needed luggage storage: the only service in town wasn't available. We asked the Grand Hotel for a favor—aware that it doesn't officially offer storage—simply because, with two backpacks, we wouldn't be able to enjoy the day at the beach. After several initial refusals, we managed to convince the staff that they would hold our bags for a few hours. At that point, however, the response was: "Okay, we'll do it for you, but only if you leave us 50 euros." This request, we consider excessive for a temporary and unscheduled favor, was striking. Besides the disproportionate price, we were struck by the total lack of courtesy: we would have expected at least a helpful and understanding attitude toward two tourists who simply wanted a morning on the beach.

03/01/2026: A simple takeout pizzeria, but with a great space for indoor dining in the winter and outdoor seating in the summer. Inside, they offer a wide selection of pizzas and a few other items. The staff is friendly, and the pizza is thin-crust. The four stars are for a "takeout pizzeria," not a restaurant.

21/11/2025: Tasty and easy-to-digest dough, flavorful tomatoes, and congratulations on the 360-degree attention to detail. For a takeout pizzeria, it still has a spacious, very comfortable, and clean seating area. Fantastic value for money.

11/08/2025: I wrote a good review last year, but I absolutely have to reevaluate it after several incidents. It's happened more than once that ingredients were missing, often including the potatoes found on many types of pizza, forcing me to change them every time. The worst thing, which shows disrespect towards the customer, is that if ingredients are missing, they always charge the same price. In fact, in my case, for a simple substitution of ingredients—I specify substitution, NOT addition—they charged me more, and we're talking about arugula (which costs much less) instead of mozzarella. A single euro more or less doesn't enrich anyone, but it shows respect and honesty towards a customer. Sometimes you can lose your way over a few pennies and simple gestures, even if the frequent lack of ingredients is no small matter.

09/10/2025: Stopped for an afternoon apertivo before a supper reservation elsewhere on 30 Sept. Good Aperol Spritz's and a large selection of appetizers. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Pleasant time on the patio with shade and protection from the wind as needed. Highly recommend.

13/09/2025: The bar itself is nice. The owner, Giovanni, is kind and polite, as are the lady and the girl who work there. I can't say the same about the other gentleman, who is rude and impolite, especially with kids. You don't behave like that when you work with the public. Unfortunately for him, I won't be returning.

27/05/2026: One of my favorite places in La Spezia, with the best farinata of all. They also serve excellent pizza and other dishes. The staff is incredibly friendly and can adapt dishes to meet your dietary needs (vegan, gluten intolerance) upon request.

07/10/2025: On Sunday evenings in the summer, it's become a habit for us to stop for pizza here before heading home from a day at the beach... delicious pizzas, exceptional farinata, and don't forget to eat a slice of cake. For those who live in the area, they also do home delivery.

26/12/2025: A very beautiful and elegant place, with a refined atmosphere that certainly plays its part. Unfortunately, the service didn't live up to expectations; once we were seated inside, we had to wait a long time before a young man came over to take our order. The appetizers were also unsatisfactory. Despite there being four of us, the olives served were very few. The Spritz was decent, but too full of ice! The same goes for the two non-alcoholic cocktails, which were also filled almost exclusively with ice. The experience was not a positive one. We won't be returning, and I wouldn't recommend this place.

14/12/2025: A truly beautiful venue, well-kept and welcoming. The cocktails were excellent, well-prepared, and the food was truly delicious. The staff was extremely kind and attentive throughout the evening. Highly recommended!

15/12/2025: We had lunch here with a large group of friends, and it's been a while since I've eaten here. The appetizers were very good and generous portions, the ravioli were delicious, and the meat was good and tender. The service was top-notch, very kind and helpful. Barbara is super helpful, and the quality/price ratio was excellent.

26/04/2026: The drinks and the unique aperitif were good. The evening with the DJ was lovely.

04/04/2026: We had an aperitivo and enjoyed it. The cocktails were unique, although we also ordered the classics. Some appetizers accompany the cocktails, but you can also order additional food (pizza, tempura, etc.). Nice location with music. Worth a try.

16/03/2026: The atmosphere is casual, unpretentious, yet very welcoming. The owners are friendly and welcoming, and know how to make you feel at home. We went to the karaoke night and had a blast.

I had swordfish with baked potatoes, while Mirco had carbonara: everything was excellent. When we paid, I asked the names of the ladies in the dining room and decided to write this highly deserved review!
