30/04/2025: On a trip from Milan to Varenna, we had a pleasant lunch, savoring the local flavors. A shared mixed antipasto (more than enough for two), two very generous Borgovino tagliatelle (unique), two glasses of wine, water, and coffee.
80 euros.
Tastes I'm not used to, but truly surprising. Generous portions for the price, and excellent, welcoming, and friendly service.
18/04/2025: Delicious, freshly cooked food in homely atmosphere in a place of too many tourist restaurants. Authentic!

14/06/2025: Historic place in the center of Valmadrera, I used to come here as a kid for pizza parties with the soccer team. The management has changed but I am very pleased to see that the wood-fired oven has been maintained. We stopped for a quick lunch. Excellent service, friendly and not intrusive from the welcome to the end. Varied choice of appetizers, first and second courses of land, sea, a small vegetarian section and pizzas. I do not recommend it to those who are used to sophisticated and chic things. Simple place, family-run, with tasty dishes. I will return to try the pizza.

04/05/2025: Principale nota dolente è che la prenotazione per pranzo (per 10) era andata persa, e solo la giornata gradevole ci ha permesso di pranzare all'esterno e di non andarcene a bocca asciutta. Ci si rifà con buone portate, meglio i secondi dei primi, e molto apprezzati anche i dolci. Vino della casa, si lascia bere. Caffè da termos e amaro offerto, ma per stomaci forti.
01/05/2025: Più che una recensione, un consiglio.
Siamo stati davanti al rifugio per un ora, 40 persone in coda, tavoli 80% vuoti.
Ma perché non riorganizzare l'accoglienza, fare sedere i clienti che nel frattempo consumano al posto di tenerli in coda ?

15/01/2026: I've already stopped by 3 or 4 times for a snack with my son, and promptly at 4 pm—and I mean 4 pm, not 7 or 8 pm—they never have croissants or anything else, just pastries. What kind of service is this for a snack?
I don't recommend it to anyone, it's a terrible place, I probably won't go there again, and the staff always seems pissed off. Maybe they don't want to work, so they should change jobs. If I could, I'd give it zero stars, but unfortunately, I can't.

19/07/2025: To get there you have to travel 500/700 m of dangerous dirt road, the rest is all poor quality.
05/07/2025: We would have loved to try this osteria. I called for a week and all I got was an answering machine telling me to leave a message and they'll call you back. We never got back. We looked at the website, and it suggested calling the same number.
We decided to go anyway.
Leaving aside a practically impassable mountain road with no signage anywhere, we found ourselves in the middle of the woods, on a road full of potholes and rocks, only to discover that the osteria was closed.
Instead of getting an answering machine saying "You'll be back," perhaps say "The place is closed" or a pop-up on the website. It wasn't difficult, with zero attention to customers.

04/01/2026: Let's say I come to this restaurant once a month. I come for convenience, even though I'm familiar with the dry and uninviting attitude. But I don't have to eat there, so I don't care. However, since there are still young people who want to work, I advise the owners to get help if they're no longer willing. They've made money in the past and don't need it. A smiling, kind face might help them too.
04/01/2026: We only used the bar for an afternoon snack. Good hot chocolates, a good selection of teas and herbal teas.

17/08/2025: The atmosphere is beautiful, clean, and bright. The service is a bit over the top, but I'm Genoese, so I'm used to it. I look at the focaccia with a tag that says "focaccia alla genovese" and think to myself: why? They should just stick to focaccia. The result: I thought I'd walked into a bakery, but instead it's a quality jewelry shop, undoubtedly mediocre.

Booked for Easter Sunday with a nasty surprise...
As soon as we arrived at the gate, we found a sign saying "closed for renovations."
No one notified us...
no texts, not even a phone call. What kind of manners are these? Five people had to run around trying to find an available place without a reservation.
Truly speechless!!!!!!
1⭐ because I was forced to, otherwise the review wouldn't have been published. For me, even less than zero...

Accogliendo la proposta del cameriere abbiamo ordinato 2 secondi "fuori menù"
( 2 piatti di carne, del tutto nella norma )
La sorpresa è stata al momento del pagamento in quanto ci siamo trovati:
- verdure a parte 6€ CAD
- acqua a parte 2€ CAD
- coperto 2.5€ CAD ( mai presente nel "pranzo di lavoro" infrasettimanale)
Di fatto + di 50€ per un banale pranzetto con soli 2 secondi piatti
MAI PIÙ.
IL TRUCCHETTO DEL FUORI MENÙ NON MI FREGHERÀ UN'ALTRA VOLTA.

22/07/2025: Sono andata domenica, personale antipatico e incapace.
Nonostante pochi avventori per poter fare l’ordinazione dopo circa 5/6 minuti abbiamo dovuto chiamare 2volte i ragazzi, a ordinazione presa abbiamo dovuto richiamare per dire che avevamo un appuntamento e non potevamo aspettare ancora, in breve per un pessimo spritz annacquato e uno scarno insieme di due pizzette un piccolissimo arancino e due listarelle di pinzimonio appassito che nemmeno abbiamo toccato abbiamo pagato 14€ a testa e aspettato circa 25 m.!!!😡
Al peggio non c’è mai fine e al bancone per prendere un kg di mignon ho dovuto dire alla ragazza che il vassoio era troppo piccolo;anche quello cambiato lo era e alla fine è riuscita a mettere 8 hg sovrapponendoli.
La scelta scarnissima i bignè solo alla crema e poi il poco rimanente era comunque fermo agli anni Ottanta.La ragazza conclude in bellezza non sapendo neppure fare il pacchetto e in più ho pagato 34 € quindi costano anche moltissimo.
Direi di scegliere altre pasticcerie
