Shabby place and tortuous and narrow road to reach it. The dirty bathroom. Large parking lot but without lights. We took 1 starter 1 blank paste 1 goulash with polenta 2 rosbeef with radicchio and gorgonzola. The portions of the rosbeef were not large 2 tarts with blueberry jam 1 tiramisu 1 bottle of wine 2 of water (included in the cover charge) The food was all great Total 85 euros

Tasting menu worth the €35 requested 👍Location in the middle of the woods, but too, too Spartan. Perhaps at the limit of usability and cleanliness for the purposes of carrying out catering activities 👎👎 best reached on foot, dirt road, bumpy and steep for about 1km, not to be underestimated especially in bad weather conditions. 😱

Rustic little place, home-made food. To reach it there is a stretch of dirt road of about 1km which is a bit bumpy.

The food are all on point, we had the best poleta we've ever tried. The whole wheat bread is also suprisingly so good. But the service was soo slow, seems disorganized, we've booked the place one day before, we came very early even before they weren't open, but no, they didnt prioritize us, the worst, they made us wait even longer, so long as for the other table had finished they second meal, and for us, we dont even have anything served on the table except ofc the coperto. I would recommend everyone who wants to eat something so authentic coming freshly as the typical mountain's culinary. The place might be a bit compact but warm enough for the upcoming winter as your small family gathering.

Sono andata a pranzo in un giorno di festività, premetto che per arrivare fino a lì bisogna percorrere un' unica stradina di montagna e devi augurarti che mentre sali non scenda nessuno, li ci sono alberi di castagne che si possono raccogliere. L'interno del locale, è tipo baita un po' vecchiotta, però accogliente. Si va solo su prenotazione... Antipasto di salumi e formaggi accompagnati da sottaceti e pane molto buoni. Io ho preso polenta e "spezzatino" peccato che la carne era fredda e anche dopo che l'hanno scaldata non era abbastanza... Dolce della casa ottimo, servizio discreto e personale gentile e disponibile. Almeno una volta è da provare!!

Trovato per caso, ultimi due km di strada per arrivarci da fuoristrada. Cibo ottimo location molto vecchia è lasciata andare, nella sala del banco stracci e cose in disordine, sedie di paglia rotte e lasciate sempre in uso. Ripeto buon cibo ma il servizio un po’ meno, la location da dimenticare

30/10/2023: Spectacular view of the lake, beautiful location, good food and excellent service
16/10/2023: Lovely restaurant directly overlooking the lake. The prices are a bit steep but in line with the rest of the restaurants in Varenna. Highly recommend their goat cheese salad, I've had it twice already and will be coming back for more on my next trip to Varenna!

Rifugio Riva

29/10/2023: Passeggiata da Baiedo: primo tratto in salita abbastanza tosto se non si è allenati (almeno 40min), poi appena si arriva nella valle è stupendo e tutto in piana, solo un ultimo tratto verso il rifugio in salita ma leggero. Abbiamo prenotato per il secondo turno (13.30) , c’era moltissima gente e il servizio un po’ confusionario giustamente, abbiamo aspettato un bel po per il tavolo perché quelli del primo turno non finivano. In ogni caso, servizio gentile e alla mano, menú semplice da rifugio con pochi piatti ma di buona qualità. Noi abbiamo preso salumi e formaggi, buonissimi, spatzle fatti col condimento dei pizzoccheri, spaziali! A seguire polenta con stinco oppure costine, anche questi davvero soddisfacenti e porzioni abbondanti. Il cibo ci è piaciuto molto. Buonissimi anche i dolci della casa e prezzo onesto per ciò che abbiamo mangiato. Ps se mangiate fuori (per noi era metà ottobre) senza il sole fa parecchio freddo, quindi portare qualcosa in più per coprirsi.
02/09/2023: Rifugio bello con bella vista sulla valle. Giampy il gestore è molto simpatico, cordiale e molto gentile. Bellissimo il cane Buck molto socievole.
