21/06/2026: A Sunday lunch with friends. The young lady who welcomed us was incredibly kind. She immediately made us feel at ease and, more importantly, made sure we found a seat. The food was excellent and of good quality. The place was very nice, both inside and out.

15/06/2026: The location is perfect to check on the most underrated site in all of Italy, the Sacro Speco monastero at the top of the hill. It was a nice morning walk up. That said the place needs a lot better management. The front desk guy bordered on surly and assigned us a tiny room in a construction zone that smelled terrible, like moldy linen. Once it was changed to a bigger room it was better. We got the breakfast/dinner option, which was very well priced but the dinner was almost inedibly bad. The “carbonara” was a sticky mess with grey lumps of guanciale or pancetta. The secondo was forgettable. The kitchen staff was very good and extremely polished and professional so the place has potential to be really good. Just get a good cook, come up with a sensible easy and repeatable dinner menu and focus on one block of aired out rooms with fresh linens and bright simple colors. The Sacro Speco monastery is one of the greatest sites in all of Italy and it looked like they were in the middle of renovation so the place has potential. It was certainly well priced

22/03/2026: I just had lunch at Origini di Subiaco and I have to say it was a real pleasure! The food was delicious, the dishes were creative and carefully presented. The service was impeccable, and the staff were kind and helpful. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the place is perfect for a relaxing break surrounded by Subiaco's nature. I highly recommend it! 😊
02/02/2026: My mother's 80th birthday, with us, her children, and grandchildren. We were all delighted by the dishes, always colorful and with flavors you could taste. He was so kind, he even brought us a few extra plates so we could taste them together! The dishes were so delicious, they even awakened the senses of my ninety-year-old dad! Thanks again :-)

07/06/2026: Historic building dating back to the early 20th century, with a wonderful panoramic location, surrounded by greenery. Clean and quiet rooms, breakfast provided by the owner but self-catering.
To reach the B&B, you must walk up a narrow uphill road with an adjoining staircase, albeit just a few dozen meters.
Guests can dine in the adjoining excellent restaurant run by the host, enjoying a splendid view under the shade of a pergola, or inside in a wonderful Art Nouveau dining room.
02/05/2026: A wonderful experience at this old "hosterya" from the early 1900s. The polenta was excellent, especially the wild boar one, and then the "abbraccio" (hug). Finally, the sour cherry tart, made entirely by the 83-year-old grandmother, including the jam.

29/06/2026: After a walk around the lake we stopped to eat here, it's a bit strange to breathe inside as there's no window and so the air is a bit stuffy, the appetizer was very good, the pasta 2 carbonaras, 2 amatricianas and 1 with white truffle were very good but 10 kg of Peppe inside, and the carbonara without guanciale!!

07/06/2026: Family-run business. There wasn't a menu, so the lady kindly explained their specials for that day in detail, so I assume the menu changes occasionally. We ordered everything displayed on the small blackboard. So, two appetizers, two first courses, and two second courses for four people. The dishes were light and filled us up, but not too heavy. It may seem trivial, but the chicken cacciatore is the best for me. Finally, the price and portions are fair. The view outside is beautiful, though. Congratulations again!
24/03/2026: Sapori e Bontà is a family-run restaurant where women rule the roost, literally. The Calabrian family runs this corner of Calabria in Livata. They offer traditional cuisine with exceptional ingredients. I recommend the fried meatballs with a secret aroma...crazy! Never stop. The baked chicken is exceptional.
You absolutely have to try it.
Few seats, but it's welcoming and simple.
The service is excellent.

12/04/2026: The polenta with sausage and spare ribs was delicious, the service was amazing, and the place has a fireplace or stove that keeps you warm.
The price was right.

07/02/2026: Excellent restaurant for a bite to eat between sledding rides. The view is beautiful, but the polenta with ribs won't keep you from looking at your plate(s).
My sweet tooth was satisfied with the potatoes and chicken, which we had to take away in a doggy bag because we were so full. Very fair price.
P.S. How much do the brown horses cost?

30/06/2026: Found by chance, it turned out to be an excellent choice. Simple atmosphere with pleasantly kind and courteous staff. Excellent food, very well cooked with generous portions. The mutton was cooked to perfection. Fair prices. Highly recommended! We'll be back.

07/06/2026: An acquaintance of mine booked this restaurant after having been there once, some time ago... what can I say... the premise of having requested a bank transfer at the time of booking already speaks volumes about what would happen next.
Arriving at the restaurant, we were greeted by a woman "cooking" in front of burning embers with the question, "Do you have a reservation?" ... As we sat down at the table, we were brought menus... but only the food menus, since the only drinks available were the house red wine and water, since "everything else is out." The sour wine and hot water arrived in a plastic bottle from the discount store.
It was time to order. The waitress who came to take our order informed us that there was no point in reading the menu, since they only had shank, stuffed zucchini, and "nice steaks" with a side of potatoes and mixed vegetables. And so be it!
A steak arrived, less than a centimeter thick, bone-in, with the skin on, and with the white part. A miracle of grilled food... ordered rare, it was delivered raw but burned in some parts... in the end, a pile of fat, bones, connective tissue, and charcoal remained. Let's move on to the potatoes... here too, a miracle occurred: half raw, half burned. Half piping hot, half cold.
I can only give a 10 out of 10 for the effort put into creating a lunch I'll never forget!
02/06/2026: A pleasant discovery on June 2nd. A welcoming, family-run place offering quality products and huge portions. We were four adults and four children, and with one course each, we were more than satisfied. Special mention for the gnocchi, the carbonara (with excellent bacon), the shank, and the tiramisu. Next time, I'll try the steak.
