11/10/2025: An intimate, private, and welcoming restaurant in the center of Gubbio! Extremely friendly staff, a friendly and approachable owner. Delicious, carefully prepared dishes. If you're in the city center, don't miss it—highly recommended!

22/09/2025: Nothing special. The food was good, but nothing special, especially considering the prices. I expected something better. The garden where we had lunch was also very beautiful, but it's a shame the place is poorly maintained and reminiscent of a village festival.

13/10/2025: We were there yesterday, Sunday. Excellent hospitality and cuisine. A place surrounded by greenery, just 5 minutes from the Perugia-Ancona highway 318 exit. The pumpkin-filled strozzapreti and sausage were divine. Free-range chicken, just like I remembered from my childhood. So, no supermarket chicken. Delicious desserts, especially the zuppa inglese. Excellent-quality Sangiovese wine from the house. Ample parking, even for large vehicles. EXCELLENT value for money. Welcoming and efficient service. Looking forward to a meticulously renovated restaurant, all in wood and stone, respecting the surrounding area. Recommended for a relaxing break during a trip, but also for a family dinner, a celebration, or for a couple seeking nature and relaxation. Congratulations!

04/11/2025: Excellent cuisine and impeccable service! We went to Oltremondo and had a truly wonderful experience. The restaurant is well-kept and welcoming, and the staff is kind and professional. We had the trio of chicken liver bruschetta, a Cinta Senese, a mixed grill, artichokes, salad, amaro, coffee, water, and a glass of wine: everything was delicious, beautifully presented, and made with top-quality ingredients. A restaurant where you can sense the passion for cooking and attention to detail. Highly recommended, we'll gladly return! 🍷🍽️

04/10/2025: For tourists! The staff were very friendly. We had a reservation for 2 pm and were seated as soon as we arrived. The restaurant is in the center of Assisi, overlooking a beautiful square if you eat outside. We ate inside, there were two of us, especially on the feast of St. Francis. We had two appetizers: cold cuts and cheese, and bruschetta. Let's say the quality was adequate. As for the entrees, I have to comment on the quality of the grill; it was decent and well-cooked. We had two first courses: fettuccine with porcini mushrooms and another truffle dish. The mushroom and truffle sauce was sparse, but there was a lot of butter and pepper. For €18, I wasn't expecting a prized truffle, but at least it was fragrant. The mushrooms were good, although very few, and the portions were adequate. The restaurant is geared toward one-touch tourism. The dishes aren't those in the photos, and some of the restaurant photos look like they're from another location; perhaps they have two restaurants. Unfortunately, it wasn't easy to digest. Price: €67 for a bottle of water, two covers, two appetizers, and two first courses. I give it three stars for the kindness and service, and in any case, you're in the historic center. For food 2 I don't want to add anything else.

18/04/2025: Almuerzo el martes de abril. Cappeletti bien hecho en caldo, un excelente filete localmente ptoducido con papas asadas y luego tiramisú. Muy bueno y de precio modesto. Tienen una impresionante selección de vinos de Umbría. Muy recomendable.

06/12/2025: TOURIST TRAP DON'T GO THERE!!! THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT PANZANELLA IS AND THEY PASS ON TOMATO SALAD. THEY SELL TRUFFLE SCALP AND DENY THE EVIDENCE, EVEN IN THE FACE OF COMPLAINTS.

Having lived in Umbria for the past four and a half years, we have grown to truly appreciate fine food and wine, and for me as a passionate food and wine lover, there is simply no better place than this culinary jewel in Montone. Chef Giancarlo Polito is more than just a master in the kitchen... he is a true gentleman. His genuine care for his guests and his dedication to creating unforgettable dining experiences set this restaurant apart. Every visit feels special, thanks to the perfect combination of exquisite cuisine, warm hospitality, and an atmosphere that makes you want to stay much longer. We absolutely love it here, and La Locanda del Capitano continues to be one of the highlights of our life in Umbria.
