23/01/2026: I went here with my boyfriend on New Year's Eve. There's no fixed New Year's Eve menu; we ordered what we liked from the menu and everything was delicious. The veal rolls with tomato sauce reminded me of Sunday lunches at my grandmother's. Celebrating New Year's Eve at 'Scante was like celebrating at home, thanks to the welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere, the extremely kind and friendly staff, and the authentic flavors of our region. Highly recommended!

12/03/2026: The Japanese guidebook "Tsuchi no Arukikata" describes this restaurant as classic and elegant. It certainly lives up to that description, offering a relaxing dining experience. It also mentions that the staff offer pleasant service, but I found them to be less than friendly. The wine list is mostly on the expensive side, so it might be a good choice for those on a budget.

26/09/2025: Calling it a restaurant is an understatement: it's simply beautiful and unexpected. You'd never expect the beauty and attention to detail I found on Tuesday evening in this sprawling establishment. The same attention to detail is evident in the food and service, which are excellent, excellent, excellent, if not excellent. It's a given that I'll be returning even though I'm 1,100 km away. 25/09/2025: After a year, I returned to this charming, historic restaurant, composed of many small rooms, but I was disappointed. The traditional Salento cuisine, once of a notable standard, has unfortunately declined in both quality and presentation. All the appetizers were mediocre, the first courses, including the maritati, were decent, and the guaccetto was exceptional. The desserts were good, and the recommended wine was mediocre. The service was friendly but confused and unprofessional. The price was high for the quality of the food.

16/03/2026: We were nervous about visiting due to some of the very negative google reviews. However it was raining and Nonna was near our hotel. I liked the humble style of the menu and decor, replete with chipped crockery. Bread arrived in paper bags and bussing was performed by gathering up the corners of the paper table clothes, typical of mom and pop shops. I was relieved to see a table of 6 middle aged Italians when we arrived. Our waitress didn’t speak much English but managed to comply with our request for a softer local wine. My companion had a primo of pasta with tomato and strong ricotta which was stronger than the ricotta salata we’ve had in Sicily. Very al dente and a great dish for people who like strong cheeses. I had the scialatielli with seafood. Light spaghetti vongole style sauce containing mostly clams. The single prawn had been peeled and deveined but left head on. Again, perfect al dente pasta served harder than in northern Italy. We shared a secondo and contorno. We ordered steak with porcini which I considered a risky choice. Meat was medium rare as ordered, and very tender. It could have looked more elegant if the sauce had been served under the steak instead of smothering it. Also slicing the steak in the kitchen would have looked more attractive but that wouldn’t be in keeping with the style of the restaurant. Our contorno was chicory sauteed with good olives. There was nothing to fault with suppliers of ingredients or cooking technique. Service can be a little slow. Our waitress seemed to be covering tables on both floors.

24/02/2026: It's a very traditional local restaurant, but unfortunately it didn't quite suit my taste; most of the dishes were too salty for me.
