31/03/2026: We've eaten here twice, and both times were truly enjoyable. The menu is carefully curated and delicious, and the service is professional and pleasant. The ingredients are seasonal and carefully selected, and the wines are exquisite. The atmosphere is truly comfortable, and the staff is friendly and cheerful. A must-try in Udine, highly recommended.

05/04/2026: We had lunch there at Easter. The restaurant is charming, with a garden and adjacent pond. The food was excellent, with high-quality meat and fish dishes. The wines and desserts were very good, and the staff was attentive and professional. We'll definitely be back.

22/02/2026: Dinner for three people with a final bill of over €100 per person, for two 300g fillets, a single pasta dish, shared appetizers, cooked vegetables, and a few glasses of wine. No tasting menu, no elaborate entrees, no elaborate desserts, no substantial bottles. Both fillets were served on plates completely soaked in their own blood, a clear sign of poor meat management (failure to rest and drain): it's not a matter of personal taste, but an objective technical flaw. For extremely simple cuisine and poor presentation, the bill is clearly disproportionate. Even including drinks, the quality/price ratio is seriously unbalanced compared to the quantity, complexity of the dishes, and overall experience. Given this is a highly praised restaurant with a well-established reputation, the disappointment is even more pronounced: at these prices and with such expectations, one would expect very different standards of execution. The service was courteous, but insufficient to compensate for such a glaring discrepancy between the value received and the amount requested. A disappointing experience.

07/03/2026: We returned to this restaurant after eight months, and what can I say? Everything was excellent (service, food, hospitality). Highly recommended.

16/03/2026: A disappointment. We ordered frico and patate in tecia (typical dishes). The frico was just potatoes and no cheese (we were told they were out of cheese); the patate in tecia were boiled potatoes sautéed in a pan. The service was good, but the price was high for the quality of the food.

16/03/2026: Not a very positive experience because we ordered a frico that only had potatoes, and when we asked, they told us they were out of cheese! Another absolutely terrible dish was "patate in tecia": boiled potatoes. We said they weren't the ones we ordered, and they said that for them, these were the "patate in tecia"! Poor value for money.

07/04/2026: A true gem in Friuli – hospitality that comes from the heart! After our Easter weekend, we visited Al Gnotul on Easter Monday and were absolutely delighted. You can immediately sense the passion that goes into the cooking: While the chef himself works his magic in the kitchen, his wife manages the service with incredible warmth. Although we don't speak Italian, communication was completely straightforward thanks to her great effort and the lovingly prepared menu – even with additional handwritten explanations in German! Choosing was easy, and every course was exquisite: The Cjarsons alla carnica and the Blecs al ragù di anatra were absolutely superb and authentic 😋. To top it all off, we were even served the espresso and grappa on the house – a wonderful gesture that underscores typical Friulian hospitality. A heartfelt thank you to our hosts for this lovely lunch. We felt very welcome!

Crossing the threshold, you feel like you're entering a space where every detail is designed to welcome, not only the body but also the gaze and the spirit. The staff guides you with discretion and expertise, transforming service into an almost artistic gesture, never intrusive but always present. The dishes aren't simply preparations, but narratives. Every element, from the choice of ingredients to the presentation, speaks a language of research, balance, and respect. Even the setting contributes to this silent dialogue, where nothing is left to chance. It's natural to think of a thought by Friedrich Nietzsche: "One must have chaos within oneself to generate a dancing star." Here, that creative chaos is perceptible, but it is expertly ordered, transformed into harmony. It's not easy to find a place capable of uniting sensation, attention, and depth so authentically. Today we were a group of old friends, and I must say we were thoroughly pampered! The traditional Friulian dishes were delicious, and the waiters were friendly and helpful. Excellent value for money. 04/04/2026: Beautiful hotel with truly comfortable rooms and a kitchenette. A studio apartment at a great price, perfect for combining a night with an excellent dinner at the adjacent restaurant. A well-kept courtyard surrounds these spaces, both palate-pleasing and relaxing. For 40 years, San Daniele has provided me with a simple yet intense experience, always satisfying. Restaurant: In a welcoming, refined yet family-friendly atmosphere, excellent prosciutto, aged 24 or 36 months, cooked with superb horseradish, excellent pickled vegetables and frico. Courtesy, prompt service, and the cleanliness, order, and quality are certainly excellent here. I enjoyed the house Friulano Bianco, which paired perfectly with the prosciutto. San Daniele remains a unique gem, and the DOCG prosciutto deserves UNESCO World Heritage recognition. For these reasons, I declare myself absolutely anti-global. Long live Italy, an extraordinary food and wine paradise.

10/04/2026: An exceptional lunch, to say the least. In a charming location. The staff was friendly, discreet, kind, and helpful. I tried the blueberry risotto with lard and saffron cream, fabulous. As a starter, beetroot carpaccio with goat cheese, walnuts, and sesame seeds was fabulous. A glass of wine and for dessert, Cuban pasta with strucchi and sligoviza... coffee, water... the price is worth it... congratulations.
