02/01/2026: Friendly and professional staff. Formal location, beautifully set table, and the idea of ​​having company for the meal (the Christmas goose in this case) was a lovely one. The chef's "Welcome" was very welcome (photo), accompanied by two glasses of sparkling wine. Dinner then began with a bottle of white wine to enjoy throughout the evening and a seafood tasting appetizer consisting of three truly delicious dishes (photo). I liked the seafood first course (photo), but nothing special. The ravioli (photo) were not bad, but I was hoping for something more. The second courses were extraordinary: we opted for an octopus main course and a venison main course (photo). Both were delicious, both the meat and the fish, but especially the pairings with which the dishes were paired. Fabulous desserts, top-notch tiramisu, and the "arrivederci" (goodbye) was also greatly appreciated, consisting of three types of cookies served with a glass of Ramandolo (photo). All in all, we had a lovely evening and a satisfying dinner.

11/01/2026: We came at 19.30. Restaurant was empty but they said that they were fully booked and we cannot get a table. We came one hour later. Restaurant was half empty but still "fully booked". Edit: Thank you for reply. I was sad as well when we were turned away twice, because your menu sounded very good. And I also couldnt believe that one hour later half of the tables were still empty, when we were told earlier that all tables are fully booked. Usually, restaurants hold the tables for reservations for 15 minutes. Maybe in Udine you do things differently and hold it for one hour++. I dont know ;)

05/02/2026: I went there for a women's lunch just before Christmas to celebrate my mom's birthday. While we were generally quite satisfied with the food, I can't say the same about the service. Let me explain: we were initially looked after by a young waiter, which in itself wasn't a problem at all. I asked for the wine list, and was told it wasn't there. I asked what wines they had by the glass, and was told they had the house wine, with I don't know how many bottles of various types on display. We ordered the house wine, which was really poor; we didn't finish it. Not very good at all. It would have been better with the waitress who looked after us toward the end of the meal.

05/01/2026: Discovered this restaurant by chance in San Daniele del Friuli. The prosciutto is a must-try, and the tagliolini are spectacular; I'd go back just for that. The waiter was very friendly and helpful. The only downside is that it's a bit small, so I recommend booking.

09/01/2026: La Tavernaccia is very welcoming, with a fireplace lit as soon as you enter. There aren't many seats, so I recommend making a reservation. The cappellacci and fettuccine were truly delicious and beautifully presented. The classic frico and polenta dish was delicious and delicate in flavor. The appetizers were all of excellent quality, but I expected a little more prosciutto for the price of the "tavernaccia platter." The staff were super friendly and, above all, very helpful and friendly. Overall, an excellent dinner, highly recommended!

05/01/2026: I'm giving it two stars because behind every business there's undoubtedly a family and work, but I left this place with the distinct feeling of having been ripped off. The quality of the cuisine is what you'd expect from a historic trattoria, with some simple, ready-made dishes (creamed cod and lasagna, for example) that speed up and simplify service. However, it's 2026, and no matter how much you want to maintain your traditional character, no matter how much you don't want to lose your rustic, family-style identity, prices need to be communicated. I chose dishes from a verbally explained menu, without knowing the value of the dishes. At the table, I was brought water, bread, and wine without asking, but ultimately paid. The final bill was what I expect in a restaurant with service, a written menu with prices listed, the option to choose your own wine, and greater attention from the waiters. The lack of a menu listing prices and the waiter's quip, "The prices are reasonable," were clearly incorrect (and I believe illegal). I don't doubt that they are reasonable and well thought out, but I think it's appropriate to let the customer choose.

08/02/2026: Historic restaurant in Cividale! It was a Sunday in February, and the restaurant was packed. The wait for the appetizer was a bit long; about 40-45 minutes! Too long! Excellent quality dishes featuring typical Friulian cuisine!

25/01/2026: A restaurant just steps from the city's historic center, with a large outdoor area for aperitivo. We went on a Sunday and I must say we had a great time. The menu features mostly traditional Friulian dishes. Service was quick and attentive, considering the restaurant was busy that day. The scoopable gelato served at the end was the icing on the cake. If you go, make sure to try it!
