Al Gnotul In Rive d'arcano

Today was our first time at this place. I have to say we had a great time; the food was good with generous portions. The staff was very kind and friendly. The price was fair.

A true gem in Friuli – hospitality that comes from the heart! After our Easter weekend, we visited Al Gnotul on Easter Monday and were absolutely delighted. You can immediately sense the passion that goes into the cooking: While the chef himself works his magic in the kitchen, his wife manages the service with incredible warmth. Although we don't speak Italian, communication was completely straightforward thanks to her great effort and the lovingly prepared menu – even with additional handwritten explanations in German! Choosing was easy, and every course was exquisite: The Cjarsons alla carnica and the Blecs al ragù di anatra were absolutely superb and authentic 😋. To top it all off, we were even served the espresso and grappa on the house – a wonderful gesture that underscores typical Friulian hospitality. A heartfelt thank you to our hosts for this lovely lunch. We felt very welcome!

We were served a welcome pepper cream soup with bread. It was a shame the bread was old, not oven-toasted, and therefore quite soggy. As for the first courses, the portions were a bit small (I had the leek-filled gnocchi, but I tried a bit of everything), but everything was good. For the second courses, I had the frico with polenta, which was good, but I don't think it was homemade. Too bad. As for the atmosphere, I have to say I felt cold. The fire was out, rightly so given the time of year, and there was only an electric heater warming the entire dining room.

A traditional trattoria with a timeless atmosphere. Reservations are required, seating is limited, and the place is always packed. Lunch is excellent and the fixed-price menu is a good value. If you're in the San Daniele area, you absolutely must stop here.

A historic Friulian osteria, a treasure to be preserved, and the owners are witnesses to this legacy, which they carry forward with dedication and excellent cuisine.

A hidden gem in a small village, worth a visit! Beautiful ambiance, extremely good local food, very friendly service, reasonable prices. We will definitely be back!

Typical house dishes, varied and of excellent quality, friendly owners and staff, more than fair prices, highly recommended and definitely worth trying.

Every time you go, you feel right at home. The welcome and service are excellent, and the food makes you feel good. Recommended if you want to take a day trip to see the castles in the surrounding towns and stop for lunch here. It's best to call and book to be sure. Recommended to come during the different seasons to try typical seasonal dishes.
