27/11/2025: We dined at Calcagno with our family and found the food to be excellent, with attentive and appropriate preparation for our two-year-old, courteous staff, and a pleasant, relaxing atmosphere. We were also treated to a delicious entrée and a truly superb digestif (a spoonful of sugar)! The price is a bit high, but given the many positives, it's worth it every now and then.

05/04/2026: Everything was very clean, the staff were welcoming. They helped us with everything we needed. They were very welcoming to our dogs. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and delicious. I'd love to return.

28/02/2026: Great place to have pasta and some local foods! We came there on the weekday after visiting the Ferrari museum, and there was not much people. We liked traditional local tortellini in broth, and local gnocchi fritto dish. Beware , traditional Modena food is often pork heavy and creamy, but tasty 😋

11/04/2026: The house appetizer was good, though nothing memorable. I can't say anything else. Our entrees were completely forgotten. After mentioning our problem to the staff, after other customers who arrived after us had finished their food, and after a waiter came to ask if we wanted coffee, we realized our order had been forgotten and decided to leave. Also because, like many others, we were passing through and had to get back on the highway. It was a shame, because everyone around us was happily eating, so I imagine the other dishes were very good.

31/03/2026: A genuine and authentic Emilian trattoria. From the moment you enter the bar area, three billiard tables, always manned by professionals, welcome guests. The owner cheerfully and easily seats guests at their tables. The dining room is simple and welcoming. The menu is super traditional. Fantastic tigella gnocchi with cured meats and cheeses. Homemade tortellini in broth. Friendly and attentive service. Reasonable prices.

30/03/2026: Sunday lunch, two words: never again. At 1 PM they ran out of gnocchi as an appetizer, too bad it's the only appetizer! The mortadella tortelli were average, the macaroni with rib sauce was average, the grill was awful. The only redeeming feature is the waiters who work hard to get the service. NEVER AGAIN.

07/04/2026: We went for Easter Monday. Aside from the fact that the place leaves a lot to be desired, we at least expected to eat excellent meat. We ordered the sliced ​​bacon with mushrooms, the skewers, and the sliced ​​picanha. We all noticed that the meat was very tough and fatty, despite each piece being cooked just right. Next, we ordered the stuffed olives (which had no filling whatsoever), and we were served the ones in the supermarket jar. We also had the grilled vegetables (very poor for a portion). The fried mushrooms were so-so. The only thing I enjoyed were the baked potatoes, which were also unfortunately very few. Would I recommend it? If you have a refined palate, avoid it because, in addition to being unsatisfied, you'll also be disappointed by the price.

02/01/2026: We stayed from December 27th to 29th. The hotel is outside Modena, convenient for getting around as it's close to the highway toll booth. The rooms are spacious and clean, with ample parking. Despite being on the ground floor, we found them warm and quiet. The downside was the breakfast and the restaurant. Breakfast was under-salted (a plate of cooked ham and several hard-boiled eggs), with no option to toast the bread (perhaps because it was already old and hard). The cakes tasted like a series of leftovers from the previous days. The toast tasted stale (and would also expire in the following days), and the espresso was forgettable. Lunch (we only had lunch on December 27th) also didn't impress us. The tortellini were nothing special (being in the "homeland" of tortellino, I would have expected more), as was the broth (it seemed to be made with stock cubes). Unfortunately, the old, hard bread was a constant (at both lunch and breakfast). A real shame, because we would have happily had dinner at the hotel, having been out and about all day.
