30/03/2026: I went for lunch on Sunday. The place is very basic, an old-fashioned trattoria without too many frills.
We had tortellini in broth and tortelloni vecchia Modena, and two portions of frogs. Overall, I can't say the food was bad. What left me perplexed, making me decide not to go back and not recommend it, was the fact that there's no menu; the dishes are simply announced by the waitress. So far, nothing unusual for this type of place. The surprise, however, came at the cashier, when the waitress did the math and we paid €140 without knowing the cost of each course. I find this truly unprofessional. Customers should know the cost of each dish, because at this point, one might even think the price can be set at their discretion. Furthermore, I don't think it's even fair not to have prices displayed.

25/05/2026: Very welcoming and spacious place! The tigelle and "IL" fried gnocco are delicious. I've often come in the evening and it's excellent value! I recently tried it for lunch and I recommend it for the price and the speed. It's very suitable for workers! Highly recommended.

03/05/2026: Three of us ordered an appetizer of fried gnocco and sliced meats, and a first course each.
The man refused to bring the appetizers first, saying that the gnocco was served as a second course.
Confused, we accepted.
After a long hour of waiting, the first courses arrived. Shortly afterward, the fried gnocco for two people was accompanied (unsolicited) by tigelle and stracchino cheese. Only after paying the bill did we discover that the appetizer cost 42 euros, more than the three first courses combined.
We were also charged for the unsolicited one, and the price was not even mentioned.
You can't give a good review to someone who tries to steal your money.

It exceeded our expectations—excellent food, atmosphere, and service. Jorge (from Peru) served us in a very friendly and highly recommended way.

10/05/2026: A "significant" amount of money is a welcome expense, but the food isn't enough. Some are good, others only moderately well-cooked. One would expect, for example, to be served at the same time as other diners, perhaps each with their own dish. A less noisy and echoing atmosphere wouldn't hurt, but perhaps the structure doesn't allow for that. What can I say? We had a good time, but not a great one, so we consider the price too high for what was offered. The culatello was frankly excellent... but that's not enough.
07/04/2026: Review of the trattoria, not the inn. The atmosphere is "vintage" in the best sense of the word, like sitting at your grandmother's house, with several rooms used as dining rooms. The welcome was pleasant, as were the staff. Overall, it was a positive experience, with the hostess being cheerful and offering advice (we had a lactose-intolerant person at our table). The appetizers were good (salami, the ever-present culatello, and giardiniera), but the portions of the latter were a bit limited. I only rated the tagliatelle among the first courses positively, as we all ordered them. Honorable mention goes to the tripe and the stewed tongue.
The dessert trolley is a must-see. I'm only missing the top marks for the prices, which, while justified by the quality of the ingredients, seemed a bit high... let's say 4.5 stars.

24/03/2025: Mangiare al Cavallino Bianco è sempre una esperienza bellissima perché è come ritornare bambina e ricordare certi sapori che ormai è difficile trovare. Il culatello il prosciutto, lo strolghino , la spalla cotta, la loro giardiniera sono piatti superlativi, per non parlare dei tagliolini al burro di Vacche Rosse con il culatello , i secondi ricchi di gusto,I dolci ottimi insomma provare per credere! La gentilezza del proprietario è innata e quindi ti senti veramente a casa di amici. Non vedo l’ora di tornarci.

05/06/2025: I am so sad this place is closed. I am traveling to that are area in 2 weeks and was so looking forward to being there. I am American and was introduced to this restaurant and owner by my friend Marco and always loved everything about this place, especially the lasagna (once made for us) and the tortellini. My best to the owner and her family.
