22/08/2025: We didn't even have time to eat because as soon as we entered the waiter didn't accept that we had decided to sit upstairs instead of downstairs. By the time we ordered water, we were asked what we wanted to order. After asking for another minute, the waiter snorted, and at that second sign of rudeness, we got up to go downstairs to pay for the water, which he said hadn't even been brought to us because he knew that a couple of tourists, very normal young people like so many others, would leave, and so it was.

19/08/2025: Delicious food! It was worth the wait!

13/10/2025: As soon as we sat down at the table, the power went out, but the owner handled the situation quite well. We ordered two starters: pappardelle with wild boar and picci with white ragù, both good and plentiful. Then, after just the right amount of time, the tagliata and fillet arrived (delicious). With two glasses of Chianti, we spent less than €40 each. The place is small, but the food is good and the service is fast. We recommend it.

05/10/2025: Dear friends, the owners, Rosetta and Giorgio, pay obsessive attention to the quality of their ingredients, the cooking, and the presentation of their dishes. The quality/price ratio is very good: naturally, if you choose a fine wine (see photo), the price goes up, but the staff is ready to advise you! The wine cellar is well-stocked! The tables are spaced far enough apart to ensure relaxation, privacy, and conversation without having to worry about being overtaken. Be careful about parking: the restaurant is in the historic center (limited traffic zone). Leave your car in the surrounding parking lots: it's only a short distance away! Reservations are highly recommended. € well spent!

13/09/2025: An authentic and unforgettable Tuscan experience During our stay at the wonderful Relais Palazzo del Capitano, we dined several times at Trattoria Toscana al Vecchio Forno: a true gem in the heart of San Quirico d'Orcia. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and perfectly in tune with the medieval charm of the village. The outdoor garden is simply enchanting, perfect for a romantic dinner. The food? Extraordinary. From the handmade pasta, to the delicate and flavorful main courses, to the desserts that seem to have come straight from a family recipe book. Each dish is prepared with the freshest ingredients and with a care that is evident at first bite. All accompanied by an extensive wine list, featuring select local labels. The service was impeccable: courteous, attentive, and always smiling. You can sense the love for the region and the authentic hospitality. Being guests at Relais Palazzo del Capitano made everything even more special: it was like living, for a few days, in a Tuscan dream. The experience is complete, harmonious, and profoundly authentic. Highly recommended, both for those seeking authentic Tuscan cuisine and for those who wish to experience the soul of this extraordinary place. We will definitely be back.

01/09/2025: This restaurant is located a little further from the center of Montepulciano, which is a welcome change from the crowds. The food is excellent, and the atmosphere, with relaxing music and the wonderful service of the waiters, makes it worth a return visit. And the prices are very reasonable. The pasta is delicious, some of the best I've ever had. I'm including some photos of the appetizer and dessert. We ate the rest with such gusto that I forgot to take photos.

29/09/2025: 'Pasticceria Buti Siena' is famous for its 'caramellato' - a pastry made crunchy with caramelised sugar filled with a Chantilly cream. I benchmark the bakery's standard with an eclair, which proved to be acceptable. And the short coffee hits the spot! A tasty 8 out of 10.

12/10/2025: Highly recommended restaurant. A welcoming and meticulously maintained venue; the staff are professional and attentive to their every need (a special thanks to Samuele and all the other waiters for their courtesy and helpfulness); the dishes are excellent and impeccably presented. The Florentine steak is spectacular, melts in the mouth, and comes with an excellent side of baked potatoes. The desserts are exquisite. Dinner couldn't have ended in the best possible way: a trio of homemade digestifs, each one better than the last. We were there tonight and can't wait to return. Lorena and Thomas

10/10/2025: What an experience! All the plates were truly delicious. The place is very cosy. The waiters are all friendly and smiling. Reservation is a must. I would recommend it anyday!

05/11/2025: One of the old osterias, but with young and enthusiastic owners. Off the beaten tourist track, you can still find simple, but precisely for that reason incredibly delicious, cuisine here. The clientele is mainly locals, which I always take as a good sign. Excellent wine recommendations. The Prosecco from a family winery was really good. We had a truly excellent meal. We were here with friends who are friends of the owner. We will definitely be back!

03/11/2025: A typical Sienese osteria! The dishes were very carefully prepared and delicious. We decided to try a bit of everything, from pici all'aglione to tagliatelle with pumpkin, sausage, and pecorino romano, finishing with a delicious Sienese tripe, made exclusively with sausage and musetto. The Bolgheri helped us with this wonderful dinner! The prices were more than fair, we'll be back! Thank you.

21/10/2025: Last weekend, I found myself with my partner spending a wonderful weekend in the Siena hills. During our visit to the city, we decided to have lunch, just in time for lunch, and were welcomed by the Antica Trattoria Stalloreggi... The quality of the cured meats on the platter was worthy of the best hospital-style Camst, even in appearance. The pici were perfectly made; even the guanciale was flavorless and overpowered by the glue that seemed to coat the pasta (it's cooked in boiling water). Unfortunately, the waitress was left alone to serve when the place was almost full, so she was probably tired but polite, fortunately more so than the house white wine. Let's conclude with the setting, which is in a beautiful village in the center of Siena, simple and rustic, typical of a hillside trattoria. The prices are absolutely unreasonable for the quality: €60 for an appetizer, a first course, two vegetable side dishes, half a liter of colored water (called wine)... if you're going for coffee, highly recommended. Thanks anyway

20/10/2025: We were two couples at the restaurant, four people in total, and from the moment we made our reservation over the phone, we felt welcomed and treated with great kindness. Even though it was Saturday night and we called at the last minute, they still managed to find us a table at the time we requested. Upon entry, we received a warm and professional welcome. The restaurant is meticulously maintained, and eating inside the cave was a truly captivating experience. The dishes were delicious, well-presented, and of high quality. The service was impeccable: the waiters were extremely professional and attentive without ever being intrusive. The final surprise at the checkout: the mother and daughter, very friendly and approachable, even gave us a discount and offered us a complimentary amaro. Highly recommended! We'll definitely be back.

20/10/2025: The waiters were very angry and the service was very bad. I have been to many countries but I have never come across such an establishment. I do not recommend anyone to go there!

18/10/2025: The rule that the customer is always right does not apply! It is inappropriate to wait for everyone to be at the table to serve you food, it is still free to consume. The waiters do not like you to order an additional drink, as it requires movement on their part. We would not repeat, despite the small selection in the village.

06/10/2025: Pasta is sadly flavorless and very watery / not seasoned. tortelli was OK. the porcini was fresh at least. but i'm very puzzled why this place has such good reviews when the food is this bland

19/10/2025: The food is truly excellent, with generous portions. The prices, which might seem moderately high, are actually very reasonable, given the quality of the ingredients. The staff is friendly and helpful. The space is spacious and well-air-conditioned.

02/10/2025: We arrived late, at 2:30 pm on a Sunday, and were greeted without any problems and fed quickly without a long wait. The food was good: two delicious mixed grills, grilled octopus, grilled radicchio, baked potatoes, and spinach; three main courses and three side dishes for two, plus an excellent wine, a Pinot Grigio Ranata from the eastern Friulian hills. We left full and happy, spending €80. The waiters were all very helpful and friendly. We used to come often in the past, both here and when it was in its old location, but we hadn't been there recently. Guilty. It's time to start again. On Sundays, it feels like a place for special occasions, with family tables like we used to see in years gone by... it's a good feeling 👍👍
