Osteria Del Carcere In San gimignano

We went to the osteria on the recommendation of a friend. Nothing to complain about: excellent food, traditional Tuscan dishes, attentive service, and friendly staff. What makes it special is also the fact that it's not your typical tourist restaurant. Reservations are recommended.

The restaurant is quaint, intimate, rustic, and not very large. The staff are warm and friendly. The menu offers a good selection, mostly traditional. We had a great time and were very satisfied. An osteria to remember.

I love Osteria del carcere. I stumbled upon it by chance one day in October. The place is small and welcoming, not too loud, just the way I like it. The soups on the menu immediately caught my eye. And it's great because you can order up to three different soups. I jumped at the chance and chose the onion soup, the porcini mushroom soup, and the farro soup. EXCELLENT. Then I went back and ordered the chickpea soup, the acqua cotta (which I didn't even know what it was), and the pappa al pomodoro (truly special). The crostoni (of which there is a wide selection) are also excellent. Not to mention the array of homemade desserts (I tried them all and they were delicious). Finally, a special thanks to the lovely hostess and the staff who pampered us at every opportunity. Highly recommended.
