We went to Osteria del Carcere for lunch with a group of friends. Knowing that the restaurant is small and intimate, and since there were six of us, we preferred to book in advance, a very good choice. The place is truly beautiful and charming, conveniently located just steps from the splendid Piazza della Cisterna in the heart of San Gimignano. The atmosphere immediately immerses you in the perfect Tuscan atmosphere. The welcome was fantastic. The owner greeted us and was immediately delightful, putting us at ease with a smile and great cordiality. As for the food, the menu offers an authentic experience of typical Tuscan cuisine. We focused on their signature dishes and were thrilled: the soups and crostoni were simply excellent, flavorful, and made with authentic ingredients. Last but not least: the bill. When it came time to pay, we had a wonderful surprise: we spent significantly less than we expected. A truly excellent value. A genuine, pleasant, and tasty experience. Highly recommended to anyone passing through!

This restaurant will always remain the highlight of our holiday in Tuscany. They serve truly authentic Tuscan cuisine that stands apart from any typical Italian menu, but the food is only half of the story. What makes this place unforgettable is the staff. You can feel their heart, soul, and honesty in every single thing they do; they treat you like you are one of their own.... The same team has been running this place for decades... incredible commitment... They are also incredibly diligent and careful with allergies! We loved the food and the team so much that we went there twice in three days. Thank you, Elena and team 🙏❤️... you are the reason to come back to San Gimignano again.

We went to the osteria on the recommendation of a friend. Nothing to complain about: excellent food, traditional Tuscan dishes, attentive service, and friendly staff. What makes it special is also the fact that it's not your typical tourist restaurant. Reservations are recommended.

The restaurant is quaint, intimate, rustic, and not very large. The staff are warm and friendly. The menu offers a good selection, mostly traditional. We had a great time and were very satisfied. An osteria to remember.

A charming, welcoming place where you can eat excellent food, served by friendly and courteous staff. Prices are reasonable. A special thanks to Elena, whose warm and friendly manner encourages trust and a sense of humor. We will definitely be back.
