23/06/2025: Didn’t even try the food, I believe it’s good no doubt. But the atmosphere from the waiters, to be specific the tall skinny dude with glasses. That dude got mad because I lifted my hand when I called him, and asked him to come so I can ask him face to face something about the menu. He didn’t came even tho he looked at me, and crossed our table couple of times. No response, then the other waiter came a girl and was nice. But me and my girl didn’t like the emptiness inside and weird energy we got so we got up and left. Didn’t order anything, just looked at the menu for 10/15min inside. Then when we got up to leave. That dude, called up on me while we were leaving and said stuff like, where are you going, you looked at the menu outside, why did you even sit. Then when I started explaining myself with literally one sentence. He interrupted me and said why do you lift your hand when you call me. Bro like mind your business … then he started to be even louder and told me people are waiting outside to sit inside. Just to clarify the room we were inside had 4 more tables with nobody sitting, also other rooms with free tables. Outside the restaurant maybe 8/12 people were waiting, but they were waiting to sit outside… Id very much like that dude to mind his own business and act like a waiter who needs to sell the italian story and be polite.
I hope the owner reeds this.
21/06/2025: It was the jazz music that drew us into this restaurant. And it was a great idea! The interior is cozy, with a few tables, and the staff is adorable.
We can't even mention the menu. We LOVED IT! A truffle pasta dish—how can I put it? Delicious! One of the best Parmigiano cheeses we've ever eaten. That's saying something. Everything is refined, flavorful, and delicate.
We finished with a deconstructed but incredible Canolo (Sicilian dessert). In short, a wonderful evening 😋

12/07/2025: We ordered a mixed antipasto, which we thoroughly enjoyed for its variety and visual impact (the eye also deserves its share). The first courses also delighted our palates. The fusilli, Cruschi peppers, fried breadcrumbs, pancetta, and creamed caciocavallo cheese; the mixed pasta of conchiglioni rigati and cinnamon ricotta calzones with a cherry tomato sauce, sun-dried tomatoes, pezzente sausage with caciocavallo flakes; and the buffalo mozzarella-filled ravioli with a cherry tomato, basil, and caciocavallo cheese sauce were truly unique and delicious.
11/07/2025: The atmosphere was very warm, and we were served promptly without a reservation. The experience is made easier if you're fluent in Italian. The dishes were beautifully presented and exquisite, especially the pasta. We recommend the Verbo wine, which was a very good choice suggested by another traveler!

06/07/2025: On a hot day, after a long walk through the wonderful streets of Matera, we stopped to recharge our batteries. We found a wonderful host who recommended what we could order for the kids. The burger choice was very good, we ate it all. I highly recommend it. 😊❤️

20/07/2025: It was an excellent lunch; we ate on the terrace, which has a beautiful view. The dishes were good, especially the peppered mussels and the first course (strascinati with sausage, Matera bread, and crusco peppers on a caciocavallo cream that was out of this world). The ingredients seemed high-quality. My only complaint: the service was a bit slow. Good value (also considering the very central location).
13/07/2025: I returned to Kappador after some time away, and I can say that the experience was even better than I remembered. We dined on the terrace with a view, in a truly enchanting atmosphere.
Everything was impeccable: attentive service, carefully prepared and flavorful dishes, quality ingredients, and a presentation that demonstrates care and passion.
I found a place that had grown, improved in every detail, without losing its distinctive authenticity. An evening with friends that turned into an experience to remember. Congratulations!

17/07/2025: A bar with an extremely vintage look, the decor stuck 100 years ago, and so is the entire bar itself.
I'll start by saying that, as a native of Puglia, the €4 savory croissant is a complete rip-off.
The place itself is dirty. Whoever put the croissants on the plates for me had three plates on the counter, one of which had jam splatted underneath, so I independently took two croissants and moved the second one to the cleanest plate, leaving the dirty one on the balcony, sadly ignored.
The prices for the mini pastries are average, but the quality is that of a bar that thinks it's Michelin-starred and doesn't even make a puff pastry worthy of the name, not to mention the sugar tarallo reduced to a small, spongy product, most likely frozen. As for the coffee shop, they should pay a little more attention to cleanliness. The cups and spoons were in a pitiful state, but obviously, the counter where the staff prepare them isn't exactly all that beautiful either. My main advice is to get out of your shop and look around, and I'm not referring to local businesses in Matera, but rather in the surrounding cities, and get inspiration for growth. And above all, look into places that are clean and, above all, authentic at their prices. If you want to sell a product for €4, you can do so, but make sure it's worth it, because if the production cost, including cured meats, is €1.50-€1.80, 50% of the cost is pure profit: you might as well spend it on improving.
12/07/2025: The best café in all of Matera. From coffee to ice cream and sweet treats to small snacks, everything is perfect. A must-visit when in Matera!
