23/06/2025: I often travel the Strada Provinciale ex Strada Statale 412 della Val Tidone, since I live in a nearby town, and along the way I pass in front of at least three gas stations ... but in the end I always choose this one! It is definitely worth the detour: more convenient prices. It has become my point of reference for filling up while spending less.

15/09/2025: During a motorcycle ride, we stopped for lunch for two. It was a minimal platter, very expensive compared to what we had eaten and compared to other similar restaurants.

29/07/2025: Here in Madesimo in the off-season. I had the Pizzocheri. Great mountain fare and very folling. Great place. Very peaceful..

29/09/2025: I went there for dinner to eat paella. The paella had turned into rice and peas with some traces of fish. The mussels were so small that it was difficult to open them. The price was 40 euros for two people, rice and peas.

21/08/2025: Dated hotel. The room we stayed in was quite run-down, with a half-broken French window, a rusty towel warmer, a blind bathroom with a fan that begged for mercy. The parking lot is a pothole. Breakfast has limited choices and all packaged products. It doesn't justify the price. It's a shame because, on the contrary, the staff is very kind and helpful, and the restaurant area is very beautiful.

09/11/2025: Service has changed a lot since last time. The staff is completely incompetent and has lost their minds. Serious requests were met, like a double espresso in a cup the size of a chocolate bar that was Nesquik, or a coffee requested for later that arrived first, like slices of cake served without cutlery. For the prices they charge, they should raise the bar for their staff. P.S.: hair in the cakes, etc.

09/11/2025: We stopped at this place and found it wonderful! We were welcomed by nice, well-groomed girls, and the staff was young and friendly, fast, and on-point. The food was excellent for an aperitif, and the cocktails were delicious. I'll definitely be back! I highly recommend it! (I honestly don't understand the other negative reviews...)

10/10/2025: I visited Bruno Parrucca in Scandiano and I must say the menu is truly excellent; the dishes were well-prepared and very tasty. However, the service was a bit sloppy and distracted. There's room for more attention and professionalism. Regarding the price, I found the bill reasonable for the quality of the food we ate. Their Erbazzone is worth a mention!

03/11/2025: I must say I'm quite surprised to read so many negative reviews. My wife and I went there in the first half of October during our silver wedding anniversary trip, and we had a great time. It was late morning, and we sat outside for breakfast. The coffee was good, as were the sfogliatelle. The waiter was very kind, so much so that when I went inside to pay, I left my change as a tip. Were we lucky? Were others unlucky? I don't know, but we'd be happy to go back.

17/10/2025: We ordered 2 club sandwich and a napolitan panino, 1 beer, 1 glass of wine and an ice tea peach. The club sandwich came without bacon nor fries, as it was mentioned. 32€ for 3 sandwiches… don’t go there!

13/09/2025: Terrible. Price-quality ratio? Absolutely below average. Portions are less than adequate, not to mention the quality. Calabria deserves much better, a region with PGI olive oil, and yet the oil arrives in a sachet... this is a small detail, but truly pitiful.

26/08/2025: I went as a couple to this seafood restaurant, which should be considered a "quick-and-go" restaurant for those passing, unpretentious diners. The prices were high, the food was meager, and the prices were unjustified for the quantity and quality. This is a seafood restaurant where dishes are served with condiments similar to those at self-service restaurants or roadside restaurants, namely in sachets. When I specifically requested quality olive oil, or at least bottled oil, given that I was in a zero-mile area, I was told it wasn't available (which is a must in other nearby restaurants), a sign of poor customer service and a lack of local attention. Not to mention the bread being made of rye or similar, which also doesn't reflect the area and typical local products. I hope the manager takes this review from a customer who experiences restaurants everywhere into constructive consideration. Finding a restaurant in Calabria in the famous town of Diamante, where the typicality of the products makes the difference, would have been highly disappointing. This is true even if I had been in Milan, Bologna, or Trento. This is without taking anything away from these wonderful cities, but in the South, from the South, one expects quality, tradition, and customer care, among many other things, especially in the restaurant and tourism sectors. If we take this away, all we have left is the sea.

16/11/2025: The room was quite small, but the bathroom was nice and had a magnifying mirror for those who don't see well without glasses. The breakfast was delicious and had a great variety. For dessert, they have pan maridoso, a classic from Rome, and it was delicious. The restaurant has a spectacular view for lunch and dinner, which is also very good, along with the wines. The hotel has an excellent location for getting around to different parts of the city.

15/11/2025: A very disappointing hotel experience, not because of the location or the staff, but because of the room and the noise. The room was an acceptable size, but the walls were dirty, especially the bathroom, which had blood on the wall. The shower curtain was filthy, and the television didn't have satellite channels, so we had to watch them on our phones during our stay, all of them Italian channels, no matter how many times we tried to tune in. I absolutely do not recommend this hotel, and it's very important that El Corte Inglés, who included it in our package, even though we asked them to check it based on the reviews we saw on Booking.com, supervises the hotels they partner with. As a result, I, at least, will never trust anything they offer me again.

23/11/2025: Embarrassing bar with embarrassing service. I walked in with some friends at 10:30 PM. Two of us ordered hot chocolate, and they told us they couldn't make it without explanation. When we asked for an explanation, they told us the cafeteria was busy and they couldn't make it (a ridiculous explanation. One, because it's not the customer's problem; two, if I ask for something and pay for it even with the extra charge for the time because after 9 PM the price was higher, there's no way you won't make it for me because it's ridiculous. Instead, tell me you've finished it). But the climax was reached when some guys came in afterwards and I saw them serving three hot chocolates at the counter in two minutes... moral of the story: no apology for what happened, and never again in this place!

22/11/2025: We were at the bar this evening. When we arrived, we asked for hot chocolates, but were told that "the bar is busy with cocktails and they couldn't make them." This product, which, moreover, is subject to a surcharge on the menu after 9:00 PM, is subject to a surcharge. We settled for that, ordering more, and shortly afterward, we noticed that the supposed bartender was serving three hot chocolates with cream added. Feeling cheated, we complained about the situation. AWFUL. The only positive note was one of the staff members who took the time to explain why they'd told us it couldn't be made. NEVER AGAIN!

20/10/2025: i recently stayed at the Castello for two nights and the Hotel emailed me to ask how my stay was. I responded by email, but sadly never heard back. I was in two minds about posting but as I never heard back please see below my view. I think that the hotel needs investment if seeking luxury and guests to want to come to the hotel for more than one night !! There needs to be a slight adjustment in the Hotel attitude which starts with the main gate signs that say no arrival before 2 pm, no outside visitors and then you also find that you can’t use the pool after 2 pm on departure day without being charged extra. In addition the Hotel has such a beautiful garden area, it’s a shame they don’t bother putting any cushions out and making it look nice other than leaving undressed tables and ones immagination as to how nice it could be. The hotel needs to create a more welcoming atmosphere with a lunch menu and dinner menu. Seems particularly weird that people will drive up to 30 minutes to other restaurants, but no one seems to want to drive to your hotel for lunch or dinner. You need to ask yourself why...... The pool chairs are particularly uncomfortable and should have cushions and they should be placed out every day automaticaly. In the bedroom it’s a shame you have to ask for a mattress topper and decent feather pillows in order to have a comfortable nights sleep. The bathrooms, particular the showers need a little bit of an upgrade. At least there is plenty of hot water..... No idea if the air-conditioning works but if it doesn’t then that would make a disastrous night sleep in your hotel. Luckily we were able to sleep with the windows open this trip. The furniture in your reception area is so large that basically makes it almost impossible to sit round without having to put one’s feet on top of the coffee table ! When sitting here people dont want to stare into the kitchen so door should be kept closed. It’s a great shame, but with 10% more effort maybe it could be 50% better. I would not rush back nor recommend to others based on my experiance. Next time would do more research as there has to be better as a very pretty area of Italy In the meantime we did have a lovely time touring the Barolo villages, tasting wine and eating in other restaurants.
