22/07/2026: Like the best trattorias, Trattoria del Moro Aronne is found off the beaten path, away from the establishments catering to tourists exclusively. It is worth the short walk up a side street; trust me on this. The trattoria specializes in Tuscan fare - recipes with wild boar, pigeon, and rabbit (though unfortunately rabbit was not available the day we stopped). My wife had Ombrichelli Porcini e Salsiccia - a hearty fresh pasta specific to Tuscany with mushrooms and sausage. I had the Tagliatelle con Cinghiale Ragu - tagliatelle with wild boar ragu. Both dishes exemplified the Italian culinary ethos of letting the ingredients shine - each a distinct entity that melds harmoniously into a symphony of flavor to create a whole that truly is more than the sum of its parts. So, for example, my wife’s mushroom dish was not distinctly mushroom flavored, but the mushrooms added their bit to the overall dish, which would have been lesser without them. The service was warm and attentive without being intrusive. Our waiter - who may well have been one of the owners given the level of service provided - was friendly and accommodating in my desire to practice some of my Italian. Trattoria del Moro Aronne carries on the tradition of the small, Italian gathering place where the breaking of bread around a convivial table is the focus. Grazie Mille!

It was an extremely satisfying meal and easily one of the best restaurants we experienced during our trip to Italy. 07/05/2026: Nadir in Perugia is one of those discoveries that makes you return home with a smile and the desire to book again. The dishes are a perfect balance of flavor, presentation, and technique. Each course is technically solid, with pairings that play on different textures: crunchy meets creamy, soft contrasts with acidity. And the balance is impeccable, never one flavor overpowering the other, only harmony from the first bite to the last. Special mention goes to Joseph in the dining room: his expertise, passion, and courtesy immediately put you at ease. He explains the dishes without being didactic, offers tasteful advice, and has a welcoming attitude that makes you feel more like a guest than a customer. If you're passing through Perugia, Nadir isn't just a restaurant. It's an experience.

03/04/2026: The truffle pasta at the restaurant recommended by the guide was delicious. However, ordering at an Italian restaurant felt a bit awkward. I clearly ordered just one pasta dish, but a fried egg came out with it, and the price was similar to the pasta. I was shocked. I don't know if I just mindlessly said okay, but it didn't feel good. I turned around thinking it was a relief since the food was good, but did they pull a trick on me for a moment? Anyway, make sure to check the box stating that you are only eating this when ordering.

03/04/2026: The dishes are both delicious and visually stunning, and truly exceptional. Some are even experimental, blending diverse culinary traditions with classic Italian cuisine. The interior is stylishly modern and very cozy, with chill jazz playing in the background. The staff is very friendly (especially with children)! Not overpriced! Update 2026 (8 years later): Nothing has changed! On the contrary, it might even be a touch better :)

06/06/2026: Unfortunately, there was constant background music. The staff seemed a bit pushy. The wine list was extensive, but the food menu was rather sparse. The menu was only accessible via QR code or website. The rabbit was very tasty. The tiramisu was served in a regular cappuccino cup, so it wasn't much, yet still cost a hefty €7. The taste was only average. We have very different memories of the tiramisu we had in Spoleto.

30/05/2026: A quiet atmosphere, a refined restaurant, and attentive service. A varied menu featuring vegetarian and traditional options. Centrally located, reservations recommended. The Orvieto-style rabbit is delicious!

26/05/2026: Spectacular dinner! From the appetizers to the seafood butcher's shop to the mixed grill, we enjoyed carefully crafted and carefully prepared dishes. The catch was excellent, served impeccably with zero waste. A surprising journey of flavors. The setting is a refined setting with interesting details, all brought to harmony by the welcoming and attentive staff. We'll definitely be returning to try the chef's other creations.

04/04/2026: We stopped for a quick lunch and ordered the 13 euro menu. I'd say it was plentiful and good... the staff were welcoming and super friendly... a rarity... congratulations!

14/03/2026: We only visited the restaurant as passing tourists, two couples, and ordered the tourist menu. The price was excellent, and the food was very tasty and well-portioned. The kitchen was spotless, and the restrooms were well-maintained. The young people at the tables were extremely courteous, extremely polite, and attentive. The owner's daughter, who is also a talented chef, was friendly and empathetic at the counter. Perfectly family-run, highly recommended. Reservations are recommended due to the large number of guests.

26/05/2026: A wonderful experience. I came here with my wife as a wedding gift from some friends. I had a wonderful time, and the service was impeccable. The private spa is a gem, and the indoor and outdoor pools are the icing on the cake. The dinner was very good, especially the meat (one of the best I've ever had). The breakfast was plentiful, delicious, and varied. The entire staff was super welcoming and professional.

25/05/2026: The location is easy to reach, nestled in greenery with a wonderful view of the lake. The room is huge, clean, and very quiet. The spa is beautiful. The on-site restaurant offers a vast menu and a well-stocked wine list. We dined there two nights and every dish was delicious. The outdoor pool is set in a large green area, ensuring peace and relaxation. Finally, the parking lot is ample, with shaded spots and electric car charging facilities.

13/06/2026: Surrounded by nature, just a few kilometers from Fabro. The 5-star rating is based on the friendliness, kindness, and empathy of the owner and her staff. The restaurant offers a very versatile menu, including vegetarian options. I highly recommend trying one of the house dishes, such as the fantastic eggplant parmigiana-filled ravioli with cherry tomato sauce... something incredible! I also tried the sausages, and the top-notch side dishes, including the nettles harvested specifically nearby... excellent!!! During a concert in the area, I stayed at the agriturismo, surrounded by greenery... a beautifully kept garden... There are wonderful mini-cottages located near a swimming pool and beach chairs for guests. Every now and then, you can see some splendid horses grazing in a green area near the pool. It's all beautiful! I highly recommend it, an experience I hope to repeat soon! ❤️🎶

12/07/2026: We had a cocktail 🍸 Right in front of Lake Trasimeno and waited for the sunset... Very nice! Next time we'll try their dishes; some of them looked very appetizing!

17/05/2026: UPDATE: I’m updating my review after a change of heart. I at first felt I wanted to disregard my disappointment of this resort but after lack of care and accountability from the resort I thought I’d share. I’d first like to point out that the restaurant, their staff, chef, service and food were all five stars and excellent. The resort itself however lacked hospitality and any resemblance of luxury. Upon arrival we were horrified to fold over the sheets and find a smashed bug UNDER the covers. We then proceeded to check the rest of the bed in fear it was a bed bug later to realize a huge blood stain on the corner of the comforter. We immediately requested another room in a different building and were happy to be upgraded to a wellness suite although we still were weary of the cleanliness of the room and its lack of design. We had previously booked the cooking experience which was excellent and the staff was very accommodating. We left full with great food and wine and happy we experienced the resort. Until we checked out and realized that my suitcase handle had been broken with no way of collapsing it when it was working perfectly fine up until our departure when our bags were picked up from our room and taken to reception. I emailed the staff to notify them and instead was met with accusations of saying my suitcase was broken upon my arrival and complete denial of any carelessness. I am now left with having to replace my brand new $200 suitcase because my airline will not accept a suitcase that doesn’t collapse. I am deeply disappointed with the lack of professionalism that is to be expected with a luxury resort. I had thought they redeemed themselves from the bug and blood situation and even wrote them a good review (see below), until they blatantly denied and instead blamed me for my broken bag. We still enjoyed our experience but I would honestly just come for the day for the restaurant and wine and would pass on staying at the resort itself and save your money. Original review: We had a wonderful stay at Altarocca Wine Resort. The staff was incredibly friendly, responsive and accommodating. Location: The resort is about a 10 minute taxi ride from Orvieto or the train station which the resort was able to help arrange for us. The property itself is located in a beautiful and picturesque Italian countryside surrounded by vineyards and rolling landscape, perfect if you want that winery stay vibe. Food & Wine: The restaurant on property was incredible, hands down the best meal of our trip. It was fine dining with excellent service and fantastic execution with balanced yet sophisticated flavors at the right amount of complexity that was not too overwhelming. We went with the staffs recommendations as well as their recommended wine pairings and they couldn’t have done better - they nailed it! They serve both a variety of their in-house wines as well as an extensive list of other regional wines, but their in-house wines were all wonderful and we stuck with those throughout our stay. Experience: We were able to enjoy a stroll through the vineyards after breakfast and took their cooking class in the afternoon which included lunch and a wine tasting after. I highly recommend this experience as it was engaging, informational, and fun! Overall we were very pleased with our stay and it was one of the highlights of our trip. We felt prices were very reasonable for the experience and we will definitely be recommending this place to friends and family! Great views. Great food&wine. Great service
