16/05/2026: It's very rare that I have to leave a negative review for an establishment. This was the 14th restaurant we visited in 7 days in Naples and the surrounding area. It was the restaurant at the Grand Hotel Vesuvio. We are accustomed to fine dining and Michelin-starred restaurants. We wanted to end our trip with an excellent restaurant with a beautiful view. By far the biggest disappointment of the trip: While the decor is elegant, the restaurant's quality is absolutely not in line with the hotel's 5-star rating. The value for money is the most disastrous I've ever experienced. I eat the same thing in a regular restaurant in Belgium for significantly less. We've dined at some excellent restaurants in Rome, to name just one, where the food was far superior to what we found here, and for a similar price. Having come to Italy every year for the past thirty years, we are very familiar with restaurant etiquette and always ask for a slower pace, as the courses are often served very quickly. The service was completely lacking: a team of six or seven people were bustling about. It was chaotic. They were constantly hovering around us to see if we were going to finish, even clearing the wine glass of a guest who had already emptied theirs while others still had more. We repeatedly reminded them that we wanted to take our time and explained that this excessive attention was stressful. The mocking and sarcastic reaction towards my wife (who had pointed out the glass being removed) of bringing an empty glass back to my friend was unacceptable and inappropriate behavior from a waitress. At first, we thought they were trainees, but no, and that's what's worrying. Despite our request to finish the wine before dessert, the pre-dessert arrived anyway. A full-bodied red wine with strawberries and raspberries—very gourmet, I must say. The food was decent, nothing special, classic, with no particular presentation. But, I repeat, we've eaten just as well, if not better, in a traditional restaurant or even a Lyonnais bistro, and for significantly less money for the same quality. The tables around you are cleared carelessly as soon as the other customers before you have left. Everything is rushed, too rushed. You can tell everyone is in a hurry to finish. At €30 a cover charge, I can understand that, but not in this context. This is the worst experience I've had in thirty years in Italy. All of this was clearly explained to the manager, who did offer a glass of wine and a limoncello as compensation, but it wouldn't have made up for this rushed, sloppy evening. From a culinary standpoint, it's clearly not fine dining (I repeat, I never said it wasn't good). The chosen menu was a hefty €120 for four courses (the pre-dessert was served in a small glass), and fell far short of expectations for the price. At that price, one naturally expects some wonderful gastronomic discoveries: no. We left with €175 per person, which is only reasonable when the quality is there. Here: the service/quality/price ratio is shameful. In my opinion, this establishment doesn't deserve a Michelin star, neither for the quality of the food nor the service. It's a shame because it has potential: a lovely view, a chic setting, attractive decor, and a good number of servers. Our friends also strongly voiced their dissatisfaction to the hotel receptionist, who was going to pass on their feedback. When we asked him to call us a taxi, he told us to walk 100 meters further and come back if there weren't any. Which, of course, we did. Why not call us a replacement right away, then, like they did at all the other restaurants we visited before? P.S.: No need to apologize for the experience, which didn't live up to our expectations, etc. It was simply a failure.

19/09/2025: I preferred the old management... higher prices.. not at all satisfied, smelly octopus and dishes served different from what we had ordered.. making excuses and climbing the mirrors without even apologizing only the environment is saved for the rest it is to be avoided a first course paid 30 euros but it absolutely did not deserve it paying a very high bill for three people.. sorry but as long as this management is there 🤦🤦🤦🤦 mom mj

07/09/2025: Showed up without a reservation and they were wonderful. Excellent service and the Turbot was prepared perfectly. Lovely evening by the water

17/05/2026: The rooms were clean but in need of renovation. The breakfast was plentiful, varied, and of high quality. For dinner, I expected something more typical.

14/05/2026: Directly across the road from east gate to Pompeii Archeological Park. Lovely, friendly staff. Very nice hotel with a great restaurant and bar attached.

22/03/2026: By now a guarantee, everything is delicious and quick to serve and above all the staff are very kind.

10/06/2026: Mediocre experience, 3 points: Food: The sorest point was the fries, probably taken from a frozen bag and tossed straight into the oil, which were truly unpleasant to eat. The €8 piadina kebab had a slightly rancid aftertaste (to be fair, I didn't feel bad afterward, despite the unpleasant flavor). The vegetarian sandwich was reportedly acceptable. Service was okay, the waitress was friendly, no complaints about that. Nice place, a little dated, the chairs weren't the most comfortable, and the pop music was loud—not exactly the pub experience I was expecting. All in all, aside from the food, which I would never eat again, they have at least 20 beers, if not a few more, so it's okay for a drink.

07/06/2026: The food is average but the choice is very very limited, an upgrade is needed....and the prices are above average.

20/09/2025: FIRST EXPERIENCE AT THIS RESTAURANT...EVERYTHING WAS EXCELLENT!! WE TRUSTED THE OWNER AND TOOK ADVICE, AND OUR TRUST WAS COMPLETELY REFUNDED WITH KINDNESS, COURTESY, AND EXCELLENT CUISINE...EVEN OUR DOG WAS TREATED WITH ELEGANCE, AND HIS MEAL WAS OFFERED BY THE OWNER...I RECOMMEND IT TO EVERYONE!!!!

05/07/2025: We have been going there for a few years The lagotti are excellent. The price has increased, but it is in line with the quality. The ice creams are not up to the level of the lagotti. The logs, very good. A reference pastry shop

30/05/2026: This two Michelin Star restaurant did not live up to the hype. First- when booking, it was suggested I pay an additional €100 per person for a drinks and canapés experience, which we did. Upon arrival, no one knew about it. It was not until mid-way through the dinner that they apologized and offered the drinks/canapés another night. There was a pre-dinner drink cart, a bread cart, a tea cart, a post-dinner drink cart, so many carts moving around the restaurant and it was so distracting! Staff were putting down tray stands and picking them up every 30 seconds without much guidance. The service overall was great despite the chaos everywhere. We were stuffed after the meal. The food was decent either way the best being the tuna carpaccio and the pasta with shrimp- which made them famous. We did the Chefs tasting menu - La Recherche which was great. Overall, I liked it but it was not what I considered a Michellin Star restaurant did.

12/05/2026: Simply stunning!! Stunning restaurant, amazing food and incredible service, do not miss this experience if you are staying in Capri. It was a stunning experience from start to finish, absolutely Loved it!!!
