The service is friendly and heartfelt, the quality-price ratio is very high.
Note for Muslims: the meat is halal.

18/05/2025: Prenoto per tempo per un compleanno in un ristorante che conosco ed apprezzo. La sera della cena c'è molto vento e la proprietaria di accomodarci fuori se vogliamo. Facciamo notare che non è fattibile, ma lei insiste che i tavoli dentro (2 liberi, di cui uno da 2/3 apparecchiato per 3) son tutti prenotati e che avrei dovuto specificare che volevo star dentro. Faccio notare che in fase di prenotazione avrebbero potuto dirmi vhe il tavolo sarebbe stato all'aperto, ma niente: colpa mia che non ho chiesto.
Al di là dell'inconveniente (il vento sinera alzato una mezz'oretta prima) è stato l'atteggiamento ad essere inaccettabile. Non dico di scusarsi, ma almeno dire che ti dispiace per l'inconveniente...
Troviamo un rimedio in un altro risrorante a 150 metri: dovendo liberare il tavolo un po' in fretta (1:20), ripassiamo davanti: il tavolo vuoto apparecchiato per 3 era ancora apparecchiato per 3. Ma magari qualcuno ha cenato in un'ora eh...
17/05/2025: My boyfriend's birthday night, restaurant booked in advance... windy evening... it'll probably rain soon... they wanted to put us outside... when we called we weren't asked if we wanted to sit outside or inside... the manager even blamed us that it was our fault for not asking to be inside... we changed venue.

17/05/2025: Small but truly unique place. I had never tried Eritrean/Ethiopian cuisine and I left very satisfied! The owner is very friendly, he asked us if it was our first time and explained how to eat with the bread he served us. Out of courtesy he also left us cutlery (which we didn't use, but we appreciated the gesture). He also often passed between the tables to see if anything was needed but in a discreet way, without stopping every time.
In short, we felt welcomed in everything and we liked the food a lot.
We will definitely return, perhaps using the 50% The Fork discount like this time (since it was applied correctly, without needing to specify).
15/05/2025: The place is small but very nice. We tried the vegetarian options with great satisfaction.
There was only one person between the dining room and the cashier but he was still able to guarantee excellent service. Very kind and always smiling.
We recommend!

I reported this to the waitress who gave me €5 back
I hope you restore the correspondence between the prices applied at the cash register and the prices shown on the menu.

13/04/2025: I havent had such good food in a very long time! The staff was super nice and the restaurant is beautiful. I dont have anything bad to say! We had the meat and vegetarian platter and it was both amaizing. The flatbreads were fermented and also tasted delicious!
11/04/2025: forget it. Little choice and terrible quality. The food does not seem fresh, but rather prepared in large quantities days before.

Few places, which makes it less chaotic.
The service is absolutely fast and the dishes are really very good (although obviously you have to like spicy and spicy).
There are also vegan alternatives on the menu.
Definitely worth trying!

Le restaurant est petit mais c'est ce qui fait son charme.
La cuisine et l'ambiance sont authentiques et familiales ce qui signifie qu'il faut s'attendre à de l'inattendu !

17/02/2025: Analogamente ai nostri amici, a noi piace molto sperimentare e in questo caso abbiamo scelto questo caratteristico ristorante eritreo (peraltro non l'unico in via Melzo, ne abbiamo visto un altro poco prima, sullo stesso lato della medesima strada).
L'ambiente appare alquanto nuovo, probabile frutto di una radicale ristrutturazione recente, e di distingue in ogni piacevole dettaglio per lo stile di ambientazione, arredi e suppellettili.
Vi sono alcuni tavoli normali ma a noi ne hanno assegnato uno di quelli tondi, bassi e piccoli, abbinati a sedie di foggia tipica e con gambe più corte dello standard mondiale: la combinazione, per quanto originale, a me è risultata parecchio scomoda. Per fortuna c'erano due tavolini di servizio più piccoli dove abbiamo potuto appoggiare bevande e altro. Ancor meno agevole è stato dover "reimparare" a mangiare con le mani, facendo attenzione a non sporcare troppo né il pavimento né i pantaloni.
Il cibo, seppur limitato nella sua varietà, lo abbiamo apprezzato molto: oltre agli sfiziosi antipasti, disponibili nelle versioni carne e vegetariana, abbiamo attinto tutti da un solo grande vassoio, con al centro la carne e intorno verdure ed altre specialità difficili da identificare a causa dell'abbondanza di spezie che rende piuttosto uniformi i sapori. Per rendere meno problematico afferrare i bocconi ci si aiuta con una sorta di sfoglia molliccia che sostituisce il pane, la stessa sulla quale è adagiato il piatto unico comune.
A fine pasto, dopo aver imbrattato perbene il tovagliolo, ho sentito il bisogno di andare in bagno a lavarmi le mani per completare l'opera.
La cena è stata abbondante e non siamo riusciti a finire la seconda portata (di pollo) che peraltro non avevamo ordinato e il conto finale è stato adeguato rispetto al cibo e alle bevande consumate.
02/02/2025: MANGIATO BENE ,ottimo zighini con ingera, bevuto birra, dolce alvah. Serata discreta. Prezzo troppo alto per quello che abbiamo mangiato.
