11/10/2025: As soon as we can, my wife and I take 1.5 hours to get there and the same amount to get back. Isn't that enough? Okay. The best Rocciata we've found so far in all of Umbria. The Torta della Nonna is heartwarming. The tozzetti are excellent, variegated and soft. Everything is truly excellent, at fair prices.

Having lived in Umbria for the past four and a half years, we have grown to truly appreciate fine food and wine, and for me as a passionate food and wine lover, there is simply no better place than this culinary jewel in Montone. Chef Giancarlo Polito is more than just a master in the kitchen... he is a true gentleman. His genuine care for his guests and his dedication to creating unforgettable dining experiences set this restaurant apart. Every visit feels special, thanks to the perfect combination of exquisite cuisine, warm hospitality, and an atmosphere that makes you want to stay much longer. We absolutely love it here, and La Locanda del Capitano continues to be one of the highlights of our life in Umbria.

This is a delightful restaurant in a wonderful location, steeped in nature and rich in history. The incredible flavors, created by the heart and soul of two wonderful and excellent chefs, materialize in dishes that are beyond special and rich in ancient flavors, such as the fettuccine, strictly homemade, with a white pigeon sauce... PHENOMENAL! The expert cooking, beyond perfect, pairs perfectly with the highest-quality ingredients that the two chefs use with incredible skill. The aroma of the bread, also homemade, is a caress for the soul. The lamb chops with green beans are unparalleled. The breaded and fried rabbit is sublime. The meat is cooked with a stopwatch. A perfect contrast between the crispy, perfectly uniform exterior and the incredibly tender interior, for both lamb and rabbit. Spectacular! For the Dentramelia chefs, cooking is a true art, a journey through sight, smell, and taste, but above all through the feelings and emotions that a chef, by preparing his dishes, can evoke in those who enjoy them. All this makes an ordinary dish uncommon. Dentramelia's cuisine is pure talent, the rediscovery of a pure and genuine tradition, all Italian. Emotions of the soul were enhanced by Yuri's smiles and infinite kindness. His service is characterized by a very high level of preparation, professionalism, kindness, courtesy, friendliness, and absolute precision. Yuri covers the entire restaurant with incredible coordination, managing to offer consistently excellent service. A continuous flow of flavors and emotions that begins with the consistency of the ingredients used and then culminates in the perfection of the evolution from the first bite. Two elements predominate: the preparation technique and the excellent quality of the raw materials. The technique is a broad and expert demonstration of a chef's knowledge of what the verb "cook" means. This quality standard allows the diner to fully enjoy the flavors. The secondary elements are never used to cover the main element of the dish but always accompany it, allowing the palate to distinguish the flavors from one another. 13/07/2025: A small restaurant in the center of Amelia, with simple furnishings and discreet, impeccable service. The local cuisine selection is limited, but meticulously prepared. I highly recommend the excellent homemade pasta, which makes you feel like you're being pampered by your grandmother: the briciola is wonderful, the pigeon ragù excellent. The house wine is a wonderful local red, and the food and drink are excellent at very reasonable prices.

19/10/2025: The staff is unsuitable for the workload. As soon as we arrived, we read the receipt at the register. We went to the register to get the receipt, but the cashier told us to go directly to the cafeteria and get our drinks, then get the receipt. The girl taking orders at the cafeteria complained about an order for a latte macchiato with foam and a ginseng cappuccino with little foam, after she treated the lady in front of me rudely, to say the least. We also needed to get some sweet peaches. When we got to the counter, the girl working the peach counter told us to get the receipt first, an almost surreal situation. If you're having a bad day, I definitely don't recommend going.

19/10/2025: The woman who takes orders at the coffee shop should change jobs. She's exhausted, rude, and, most importantly, incapable of doing her job. She doesn't consider you to be busy with so many things and constantly gets things wrong, making mistakes. She made a mistake with the customer before us, and the same with us. She even blamed us for not telling her the cappuccino was ginseng when my boyfriend actually made it. Next time, learn to do one thing at a time instead of a thousand, because even one at a time won't work. She was also rude at the end, telling us our order was a complete mess. It's a real shame she's there because the products are very good, but the way they treat you makes you never want to come back.

05/10/2025: As soon as you enter this place, the attention and care they give to their customers is evident from the way you are welcomed. We chose two Neapolitan pizzas, in keeping with tradition, but in the case of mine, the boscaiola, there were mushrooms and excellent Perugian sausage. I also noticed excellent quality of ingredients, with an emphasis on local ones. The dough was excellent, respecting the traditional "Neapolitan pizza", with high edges. I had dessert, a pandolce with chocolate shavings and pear cream, which was nothing special, but at least it was homemade. The place is small but welcoming, a little noisy but normal.

31/07/2025: Ormai siamo andati a pranzare dagli amici del piatto forte almeno in 4 occasioni. Chi serve ai tavoli è molto gentile e pronto a soddisfare le esigenze dei clienti. Il loro punto di forza è il rapporto qualità prezzo. Si mangia bene e si paga poco. Il tutto condito dalla posizione centralissima a Perugia.

28/09/2025: I've been choosing NOT to go to this place for a while now, but I still rarely go back for pizza nights with friends. Every time I go, I remember why I don't go there anymore. The pinza is good, but the service is decidedly poor. On a Saturday night, with the place packed, there were ONLY 3 waiters. It's no surprise that in two and a half hours, I only ate 3 pieces of pinza; the wait was incredibly long, and in the end, the pinza with Nutella we'd asked for the kids never arrived. Not to mention the chips, COUNTED. I personally ate 7 so everyone else next to me could try them too.

17/09/2025: The place is spacious and, in my opinion, nicely decorated. The food, in my opinion, is good, with a wide selection for both raw food eaters and non-raw eaters. What I really like about this place is the complete absence of fried food odors in the room. In other places, I've noticed it from outside. The only negative, if I may say so, is the ordering method. I'd suggest a tablet, like many other places. I think that may have been the reason why, today in particular, there must have been some issues, and we kept receiving dishes we'd ordered but had already been eaten. Twice, the waitress came back with full plates. We explained that they'd already been brought to us, and without any fuss, she took them back to the counter. I highly recommend it and will definitely be back.
