23/08/2024: Restaurant near the port, where you can eat fish. The value for money is the absolute best I have ever found in Italy in a fish restaurant. Personally, I took a 27 euro menu with a first and second fish starter, including wine and water. It is not directly on the sea, better to eat inside than outside as it is on the street, I recommend booking. Pleasant service and convivial environment, highly recommended. At lunch there is a low-price fish menu, without choice but at a bargain price.

16/08/2024: Ristorante con cucina tipica non lontano dalla passeggiata sul lungomare. Abbiamo cenato all'aperto gustando dei buonissimi tordelli con un sugo da 10 e lode. Ottimi anche gli altri piatti e i dolci. Prenotate in anticipo perché non è facile trovare posto.

28/07/2024: Ristorante a pochi passi dal lungomare di Viareggio. Cena a base di pesce. Zuppa di moscardini ottima, così come le seppie gratinate con patate. Il primo piatto con rana pescatrice e cipolle davvero ottimo. Abbiamo chiuso con un mix di dolci della casa tra cui torta della nonna e crema al mascarpone con biscottini che davvero meritavano. Rapporto qualità-prezzo ottimo!

18/08/2024: I was born and raised in Viareggio, and as a child, living in the centre, on Sunday evenings my father always went to get pizza from "Rizzieri", next to the Municipality. It was the 90s and that pizza was, by far, the best in the whole city... Or better... There were two major factions: Those who liked fine, "Athos" in Passeggiata, while those who liked it a little higher, "Rizzieri" in common. As I grew up however, and occasionally returned to Rizzieri, I felt that something was changing... I wondered how it was possible that the pizza I had loved so much as a child, and which I couldn't wait to eat every Sunday, was starting to taste less good. Be careful, I'm not saying that she had become bad, on the contrary... But, how can I say... It was no longer the pizza I knew. I found it less digestible, and Cecina also seemed different to me. I blamed myself, I convinced myself that it was me who had changed and that perhaps I had different tastes, or that I had eaten way too much and had become bored. Over time I started to eat less and less, also thanks to the increase in pizzerias in the city and the variety of types and flavors that you could find on the market. I tried to take it again, every now and then, but unfortunately, there was no way... I no longer felt the same sensations. I had given up, thinking that now, even though I was a true pizza lover, I could no longer experience that true pleasure I had when I was little. Today, in 2022, I have already been living in Torre del Lago Puccini for a few years and only by chance did I stumble upon this pizzeria "da Simone". One evening I found myself needing to eat something in the Ex Airfield area and I ended up there, by chance. Obviously I took Pizza and Cecina. As soon as I took the first bite, there was something that didn't sit right with me... I almost got scared, because I immediately, and without understanding why, jumped back 30 years. Was that perhaps the best pizza in all of Viareggio that I remembered? I couldn't understand how it was possible that I was experiencing emotions of that kind, I didn't understand... Tasting the cecina then... Well guys, it brought tears to my eyes from how good it was... If for taste, pizza is also a matter of personal choice... cecina is a kind of axiom, a culinary creation where, either you do it really well, or there is always something that doesn't add up between taste, consistency, digestibility. Either it's fantastic, or it's not... And Simone's cecina is much better than "fantastic", it is INIMITABLE! Once dinner was finished, I went to pay and had confirmation of what my unconscious had already understood after the first bite, projecting me back in time. Simone, as well as the more experienced lady who works there, were the same people who worked at Rizzieri in the 90s. Then I imagine that the brothers split over the pizzeria in the center of the town, and that Simone opened at the Airfield... Today, in 2022, I will always be grateful for that late summer day when I stumbled upon this pizzeria by chance. Today I can finally go back to eating the best pizza in Viareggio, the pizza from when I was a child. Today there is one more opponent in the fight against training and diet... an enemy that I will never be able to truly defeat, and which actually motivates me to train even more, because I cannot go without eating THIS pizza and THIS chickpea. So I write this papyrus, which probably no one will read in full, not even Simone... I'm writing it to you anyway because I feel more comfortable writing rather than speaking... I'm writing to him to tell him: THANK YOU for still existing. THANK YOU for continuing to make pizza and cecina as you know how to do, without compromising. THANK YOU for giving me the certainty that, even if the day can go wrong, whatever happened, in the evening I know, that by ordering pizza from you, I can go back to being a child, and still be happy, grateful, and carefree, like when on Sunday evenings my father brought home pizza and we all ate it together... THANK YOU 🙏

13/07/2024: I want to be honest: initially I was a little skeptical. Then confident of the average reviews and seeing that many people, apparently local, were sitting there, I took courage. And I'll tell you about my experience. First of all, very kind staff. Despite the reserved tables and our failure to book, they managed to accommodate us in the best possible way. We ordered two first courses (spaghetti with seafood and pici with sea cicada pesto) and then continued with the turbot. It was all great, but the turbot was truly spectacular! It is a delicate fish, you need to know how to cook it well. Especially when you make it in the oven with potatoes and cherry tomatoes (Isola style). The risk of ruining the meat is high. And instead it was really well cooked. Then a focus on the bitters at the end meant that we really fell in love with this place. I will happily return when I pass through Viareggio again. Advised.

20/07/2024: The four of us were there from July 12th to 19th. in this very nice hotel. Everything is very well maintained, the food (we had booked half board) was very tasty and varied. The staff was always friendly and helpful. A special thank you goes to Klejdi for the extremely nice, courteous service that we enjoyed. Warm greetings from Lower Saxony!!!

25/06/2024: Large room with super terrace overlooking the sea, but poorly maintained. Standard breakfast with horrendous juices from the machine, the windows on the waterfront very dirty with dirt after the storms needed to be cleaned and the waiter shows up at the tables with his hands in his pockets! We're definitely not there. Furthermore, the receptionist, in obvious difficulty, denied us the garage despite having a confirmed reservation (which they had lost). I wouldn't go back.

06/07/2024: Siamo andati a prendere delle pizze, perché vedendo da Google le recensioni sembravano buone, entriamo nel locale, ordiniamo le pizze e nel frattempo vediamo il pizzaiolo che stende le pizze con dei macchinari , un sacco di pizze già stese e condite sulle retine da forno per scaldare alimenti , in dei carrelli da cucina impilate con il foglio degli ordini tra pizza e retina , per finire avevamo chiesto di tagliarle e aprendole abbiamo scoperte che dovevamo mangiarle strappandole , per di più lavorando in infradito

26/07/2024: Entri e nessuno ti considera, ma porti pazienza e riesci a sederti. Ordini due bevute e con queste non viene portato niente... Vero, non è dovuto (forse?)... Facciamo presente che vorremmo ordinare qualcosa, portano i menù ma, ahimè, nessuno viene a prendere l'ordinazione...... Attentiamo più di 40 minuti e niente, invisibili. Venuti via senza assaggiare niente. Non credo che questo sia un trattamento consono, manca totalmente l'organizzazione, peccato!!!!
