15/07/2025: You can't just happen upon Mater Restaurant; you have to want to. It's a journey through nature with a breathtaking view of the Poppi plain, which also heralds a journey into the flavors of the local countryside. A very well-maintained restaurant with an open kitchen, where you can watch a group of artists perform. Each dish is a work of art, both visual and olfactory. We've occasionally tried the tasting menu (useful the first few times to get to know the offerings), but lately we've chosen the à la carte menu, which allows us to focus on a few new dishes. Which ones can I describe? All very sublime, but I must mention one pleasant surprise that truly blew me away: homemade tagliolini with two textures of apricot. I couldn't have imagined such a dish possible, a delight. Excellent and impeccable service.

13/07/2025: A wonderful evening at Mater We chose Mater for the simple yet fascinating philosophy that inspires Filippo and Marta's work. We appreciated the research and innovation deeply rooted in the region, the evocative and well-orchestrated pairings in which the characteristic notes of the raw ingredients emerge clean and refined through transformation, for a memorable sensory experience. We were accompanied by attentive and delicate waitstaff, their pleasant and evocative narration. We savored the care and attention, and for this rare ingredient, we will be happy to return! 29/06/2025: After a beautiful walk in the woods of the Casentino forest, we ate typical cuisine from these parts, from fried porcini mushrooms to pici, from typical cured meats to lamb, in short, everything was delicious in a typical refuge atmosphere.

10/07/2025: We visited here from Germany with a group of 20 people and had a delicious meal. The value for money is excellent. If we're ever here again, we'd be happy to come back.

02/07/2025: I found the food good and the portions generous (next time my family and I will have to be careful when ordering and consider sharing some dishes or asking for a half portion). The girl who served us was really kind and professional. The place was very nice and cool, something not to be overlooked in the heat of the season. We will definitely be back

29/06/2025: Summer weekend so maximum attendance. All good at honest prices and despite the lack of staff (staff who know how to work) the young girl was able to maintain a decent service.

11/06/2025: Even if we only stayed one night we had a great time. The rooms are simple but essential, the service is no exception, in fact we immediately felt welcomed and pampered by Jessica who was kind and polite. The breakfast was super complete and spectacular, not to mention the breathtaking landscape and pool.

17/06/2025: For us motorcyclists, it is an unmissable stop every June, after an event of 400 km of curves. Andrea and his family treat us like brothers, the rooms are beautiful, large and absolutely comfortable, the food something fantastic! Abundant breakfast both sweet and savory. Absolutely recommended!

03/06/2025: Il ristorante Casentino è in pieno centro a Poppi, a pochi passi dal castello, offre un bel giardino in un cortile interno, dove ci hanno fatto accomodare, personale cordiale e preparato, non invasivo, tempi giusti. Iniziamo quindi molto bene, e proseguiamo altrettanto bene con le portate, filetto di maiale al finocchietto, arrosto di tacchino e verdure di contorno, molto buone, sapori equilibrati, cucina tradizionale nella sua migliore espressione. Vino al calice (chianti di Arezzo) a prezzi modici e buona qualità, buoni anche i dolci. Devo fare in complimenti al cameriere, molto giovane ma molto preparato, molto gentile e in grado di gestire più tavoli senza problemi. Conto più che onesto, il rapporto costo/qualità è nel range più alto. Quindi assegno cinque "*" non perchè vi sia qualcosa di super che traina tutto il giudizio, ma perchè il "Casentino" è buono su tutto, servizio, cibo, location, senza eccessi ma neanche sbavature. e senza l'ormai usuale sbrodolamento per decantare menù di fuffa, insomma un posto dove si sta bene e dove si tornerà volentieri.

21/04/2025: I stayed overnight and ate at the restaurant, for dinner and lunch. Excellent quality as I remembered (I hadn't been here for a long time), friendly and always helpful staff. Excellent breakfast both in quality and quantity, exceptional cakes. And then the pleasure of meeting Roberta, Licio and their mother, kind and welcoming. Thank you

02/06/2025: Excellent service and kindness, phenomenal food, shame about the confusion! We happened to be there during a birthday and it was quite confusing but if I happen to be in that area again I will definitely go back. Wide selection of beers, excellent hamburgers, pizzas and shin. Excellent value for money.
