22/05/2025: Absolutely delightful! This is the second time we have experienced the beautiful food of Mater. The whole experience is exceptional - beautifully presented, exceptional service and stunning views. 😊

18/05/2025: One wonders: but why, when I go to Casentino, do I always come here? Shouldn't I try some other place? Simple, it's essential. Excellent cuisine, fine and masterful but extremely respectful of the raw materials; attentive and thoughtful service but not suffocating; amazing location and delicious rooms or suites where you can crash after abundant libations, without jeopardizing your license and criminal record... and then you could fall in love with Marta, queen of the dining room. In short: I will always come back here, but... sooner or later I have to carve out a couple of days, because I would also like to try the simpler cuisine of the Locanda dei Baroni, but without giving up a dinner at the Mater! P.S. However, even if you have installed the charging station, I will not come with the electric Porsche!!!

22/05/2025: I don't know what nonsense Heinz Müller is talking. This absolutely divine restaurant saved our evening. The service was very attentive and polite. The burgers were a delight and very unique with homemade bread. The side dishes were also delicious and varied. I can only recommend this establishment.

03/06/2025: Il ristorante Casentino è in pieno centro a Poppi, a pochi passi dal castello, offre un bel giardino in un cortile interno, dove ci hanno fatto accomodare, personale cordiale e preparato, non invasivo, tempi giusti. Iniziamo quindi molto bene, e proseguiamo altrettanto bene con le portate, filetto di maiale al finocchietto, arrosto di tacchino e verdure di contorno, molto buone, sapori equilibrati, cucina tradizionale nella sua migliore espressione. Vino al calice (chianti di Arezzo) a prezzi modici e buona qualità, buoni anche i dolci. Devo fare in complimenti al cameriere, molto giovane ma molto preparato, molto gentile e in grado di gestire più tavoli senza problemi. Conto più che onesto, il rapporto costo/qualità è nel range più alto. Quindi assegno cinque "*" non perchè vi sia qualcosa di super che traina tutto il giudizio, ma perchè il "Casentino" è buono su tutto, servizio, cibo, location, senza eccessi ma neanche sbavature. e senza l'ormai usuale sbrodolamento per decantare menù di fuffa, insomma un posto dove si sta bene e dove si tornerà volentieri.

25/05/2025: Well, I honestly expected something home-made. Greasy tortelli. The meat for God's sake. Fillet steak with boiled truffle.... The pre-cooked and cold rosticciana. €71 for what.... I eat from McDonald's Terrible

02/06/2025: Eating and staying here has the flavor of beautiful childhood memories. The food prepared with care and love starting from excellent and "real" raw materials. The mushrooms, the meat, the sauces, the fresh pasta evoke the mastery of the grandmothers' cooking who on Sunday mornings rolled out the pasta for Sunday lunch. The welcome of the staff and the owners is above all expectations and the feeling is always that of having found a "refuge" where you can always return to feel good, even after days that leave you exhausted.

11/05/2025: Excellent food at reasonable prices, I recommend a stop for motorcyclists who roam around those parts but better to book or arrive outside peak times, all very nice.

11/05/2025: At lunch there were two of us and three tables on a weekday, a nice large and welcoming room, very good crostini and bruschetta like my wife's tortelli. My potato ones were also good, just a little raw and I struggled to digest them. After an hour I resolved it with a coke. But when I come back to those parts I'll stop for sure

23/02/2025: Posto informale, alla mano impreziosito dall’ottimo cibo e dalla gentilezza della Signora che serve ai tavoli. Per chi va oltre i fronzoli e ama la cucina autentica e la tranquillità che si respira guardando fuori dalla finestra, è il posto perfetto!

23/02/2025: They welcomed us without reservation, in a familiar environment. A menu with few, very tasty dishes. Homemade but not banal cuisine. Off the menu I ate a tasty acqua cotta from Moggiona. To make a note, the dishes were very peppery and less would have made the flavor of the good ingredients stand out more but arriving late, being served quickly and in a relaxed environment makes you want to return. Finally, a valid value for money (and a welcoming and spotless bathroom)
