13/04/2026: We stayed at the Waldhof at the beginning of the season at the end of March, and it was a truly perfect and relaxing stay. You can tell the hotel is family-run – in the best possible way. Everything is thoughtfully designed, personal, and shows great attention to detail. We had a very spacious, modern room in the "old" part of the hotel. There's also a new extension with modern wooden architecture. We stayed for five days and booked a package including breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner (a six-course meal), and every single one of these meals was a delight. Light (okay, maybe not the afternoon tea, as a general rule :-)), fresh, and varied. In addition, the service was very friendly and welcoming in all areas, and there was a fantastic pool area with a breathtaking view. The hotel is located above Lana. If the bike ride up the hill is too strenuous (we North Germans are only used to dikes) and you still want to leave the car behind, you can take the bus, which stops right at the hotel. You can also take a hike from the hotel or the village of Völlan, such as the educational chestnut adventure trail or the hike to the St. Hippolyt chapel.

09/04/2026: My last two visits were quite some time ago (2025), but after many years as a satisfied customer, they were also my last. The terrace is lovely to sit on. Unfortunately, that's no use if almost an hour passes between taking a seat, being registered, receiving a menu, being able to order, and finally receiving the food. As a hotel guest with half-board, it's understandable that you might only want a light lunch. Asking for a half portion is possible, after the server has spent a considerable amount of time checking with the kitchen. However, there's absolutely no indication that, contrary to the custom in other restaurants, you'll still be charged the full price. While this is the establishment's prerogative, prior notification would be necessary so that the guest can decide whether to accept the offer. You only discover this when you look at the already paid bill. Once or twice it might be an oversight, but after it happening four times in the last three years, I'll definitely be avoiding the restaurant in the future.

08/12/2025: We found it by chance, as all the restaurants in the center of Castelrotto were closed. It was around 1:30 PM, and when we called, they told us the kitchen was open until around 2 PM. As soon as we arrived, they welcomed us kindly, which wasn't exactly expected given the hour. We ate very well, both the dumplings in broth and the excellent venison goulash. The restaurant is five minutes from the center (you need to take the car), but definitely recommended for a quiet stay and good food.

19/10/2025: We had the best dinner in Selva here. The food was really great. The pizza was baked perfectly, the tagiatelle ragu was great, the tiramisu was also tasty. The waiters were very helpful and kind. Definitely will come back whenever we visit Dolomites again.

28/01/2026: We hiked from Larchhof, above the Ratschings-Jaufen ski area, through the winter forest to Schölzhornhof. It took us about an hour, and we had certainly earned our lunch. The restaurant's menu features Alpine cuisine, incredibly delicious and reasonably priced. I can't comment on the hotel at this time.

17/04/2026: Fantastic restaurant. My daughter and I spent Easter hiking in South Tyrol and stayed at the Hotel Walder in Schenna. We did some research online and then booked a table at Mair for Good Friday. The service was excellent and everyone was in great spirits. It was a pleasure. The menu is extensive, with something for everyone; I even had calf's liver, which was absolutely delicious. My daughter especially enjoyed the extensive asparagus menu. We ended up eating there every evening except Saturday (which was unfortunately their day off). But we definitely have to go back; the menu is still quite long. The prices are also very reasonable. At the end of our holiday, as almost regular customers, we were given a delicious bottle of wine as a parting gift – very nice indeed! :-)

09/12/2025: We went for Törggelen dinner; it was a charming place...a typical, well-kept farmhouse. We ate really well, and the atmosphere was very welcoming!

26/07/2025: Sono capitata in questo ristorante per puro caso a pranzo e sono rimasta entusiasta!! Non avevamo prenotato e in 5 minuti, nonostante la confusione di persone che aspettava, ci hanno fatto accomodare. Il personale è molto cordiale e professionale. È tutto veramente molto buono, anzi ottimo!! Non perdetevi lo stinco, gli spatzle e uova/patate/speck: favolosi!! I piatti sono molto generosi!! Consigliatissimo!!

05/10/2025: The menu is very small; it's not published on their website. It has many dishes with entrails. At night, the road to the restaurant is very dangerous because it's very small and unlit.

03/10/2025: We spent a wonderful evening at the Umser Mühlele. The ambiance is truly wonderful, and the service was super friendly. We had three courses, and everything was excellently prepared and presented. The quality is evident in every dish. We felt completely at home and will definitely be back. Card payments are no problem.

16/12/2025: We travel from Germany to Tramin three or four times a year, and on our first evening we almost always go to the Bürgerstube restaurant because of their excellent pizza. However, their other dishes and varied daily menu are also highly recommended. The second reason we enjoy eating at the Bürgerstube is the exceptionally friendly staff.

06/05/2026: There's a lovely outdoor area – partly on the terrace, partly under the trees. It was quite busy, but we still managed to get a free table and someone came to us fairly quickly. The food was delicious; we had fried potatoes with a fried egg and a trio of dumplings, and tasty elderflower spritzers.

14/12/2025: I stumbled upon this wonderful place quite by chance. A unique atmosphere meets fantastic, unobtrusive service and superb food. I had barley soup and venison ragout, and I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant!
