27/10/2025: Every visit to the funny crocodile is an experience! The atmosphere alone is special. Peter's service is personal and makes you feel right at home. The menu is small but delicious, and Stefan cooks the best lasagna ever (but he's not the only one ☺️). A must-visit on any holiday in Kaltern!

15/10/2025: During our vacation in South Tyrol, we found this small restaurant on Goldgasse in Kaltern. We were very pleasantly surprised by the food: tortellini filled with porcini mushrooms and truffle foam, and very well-filled herb pasta. We sat across from the restaurant in a small garden with only five tables. It was incredibly cozy and elegantly set, and the weather was perfect on October 15th. A dream, with very friendly service. Thank you, it was a very nice lunch.

05/10/2025: The menu is very small; it's not published on their website. It has many dishes with entrails. At night, the road to the restaurant is very dangerous because it's very small and unlit.

03/10/2025: We spent a wonderful evening at the Umser Mühlele. The ambiance is truly wonderful, and the service was super friendly. We had three courses, and everything was excellently prepared and presented. The quality is evident in every dish. We felt completely at home and will definitely be back. Card payments are no problem.

03/10/2025: We ate at Bachler twice during our stay and were impressed by the quality and service. There's something for everyone on the menu. The daily specials are very good. Friendly, attentive, but never intrusive service. Their own pizza chef prepares pizzas at the oven. Truly a top recommendation.

03/10/2025: We were really looking forward to a good pizza and were unfortunately disappointed. The pizza in the photo is my own homemade pizza. I'm used to pizzas from South Tyrol that are completely different. The dough was very light, didn't bubble, and had zero flavor, as is appropriate for a dough made with, for example, Caputo flour. It tasted more like a crispy pie crust. Despite the wood-fired oven, it wasn't a truly good pizza. I can't recommend it. The atmosphere was okay, and the enterprising waiter was very nice. This is what my pizzas at home look like, and they're not from a wood-fired oven.

21/01/2026: For four years, I've been staying at this beautiful hotel in the winter, and I've also been here in the summer. In both seasons, I've had a wonderful time, thanks to the excellent location, the services, the stunning views, the comfortable rooms, the excellent food, and the wide variety of choices for breakfast and dinner. The spa offers ample space for total relaxation and privacy, and a menu of very pleasant treatments!

19/01/2026: Hotel Granbaita is marketed and priced as a luxury, five-star Dolomites experience. It is not and it represents very poor value for money. From the outset, the accommodation felt substandard. The bed linen and toilet paper were both extremely rough, bordering on hostel quality. We raised this directly with staff and asked for it to be remedied; no one followed up and nothing changed. For a hotel charging at this level, basic comfort should not require repeated requests. The hallways and interiors are deeply uninviting. Long, narrow corridors resemble a hospital rather than an alpine retreat, a feeling reinforced by harsh lighting and worn carpets that genuinely recall The Shining. There is no warmth or cohesion in the design. Instead, the hotel is filled with odd, randomly dispersed sculptures and artwork that add to the sterile, impersonal atmosphere rather than elevating it. The spa area smelled unpleasant, and instead of addressing the underlying issue, the hotel seemed to mask it with an overpowering, synthetic cologne — the same scent was sprayed into guest rooms, making the problem worse rather than better. The hotel’s size is clearly part of the problem: it is far too large to deliver the attentive service and intimacy one expects in the Dolomites. Despite booking well in advance, we were placed far apart, with no consideration given to keeping rooms together. Food – the biggest disappointment The dining experience was, frankly, unacceptable. • Breakfast was mediocre at best: limited fresh fruit, dry pastries, and eggs that were inconsistent day to day. • On one occasion we ordered overnight oats — the result was genuinely inedible. • Dinner service was the low point of the stay. Protein courses were repeatedly poorly cooked and oddly paired with strange, baby-food-like purées (clearly visible in the photos). • The antipasto buffet featured raw seafood left sitting out for extended periods, raising serious concerns about freshness and food safety. • The so-called “dessert night” felt entirely mass-produced. Items appeared either shop-bought or prepared days in advance, lacking freshness, skill, or care. One night we were excited to order our beloved Kaiserschmarrn. What came out was 4 pieces of oily, flat, cold pancake. A complete disservice to the dish and cuisine. What made this worse was the response when we raised concerns: waitstaff and management consistently dismissed feedback with “that’s just how it is.” This attitude is incompatible with a hotel positioning itself at the top end of the market. Service With the exception of the drivers and one waiter, service was poor. Staff were often dismissive, defensive, and uninterested in resolving issues. There was no sense of hospitality, warmth, or pride, qualities that define truly great alpine hotels. Comparison matters We stayed at Hotel Tyrol earlier on the same trip and had a wonderful experience. Warm service, excellent food, thoughtful design, and genuine hospitality. That contrast makes Granbaita’s shortcomings impossible to ignore. Bottom line Granbaita is too big, too impersonal, and too poorly managed to justify its pricing or five-star branding. Between the uncomfortable rooms, unpleasant smells, cheap furnishings, weak service, and consistently bad food, this hotel fails to deliver the experience one expects in the Dolomites. We would not return and cannot recommend it to anyone seeking quality, comfort, or value.

05/01/2026: A warm and welcoming place in an enchanting setting. Friendly service and excellent food. The tagliata is buttery smooth and the polenta is delicious. The mascot Zorro is a real plus.

10/09/2025: I would have liked to give it my all. The place is wonderful, with a beautiful view outside, even more so in the rain. The first courses were excellent, the potato tortei were good, but not the best I've ever eaten. The tagliatelle with mushrooms were good, but I personally have a problem with cream in pasta with mushrooms, especially when the mushrooms are of excellent quality like those they offer here. Another sore point is that the quality of the pasta was excellent, but it's not made by them. Their ice cream is superb, as are the homemade liqueurs that you can taste at the end of the meal. I recommend the strangolapreti accompanied by a good Teroldego red. I highly recommend this place, and I'd gladly return. The staff are very welcoming and kind. My compliments for everything.

02/10/2025: I just arrived, but I'm leaving the 5 stars straight away, even though I still have to have breakfast tomorrow. 😅 The property is truly splendid in every way (from the exterior to the lobby, to the lounges with sofas, to the rooms with fantastic bathrooms, etc.), and the staff is super welcoming. They even left deluxe bowls for my dogs in my room. 🤣🤣🤣 I was able to have coffee at the bar in the afternoon, along with an excellent Sacher torte and even freshly whipped cream made with milk from the Vipiteno dairy (and it was really good 😁). I also found the prices to be affordable. In short, it makes you want to extend your stay when, unfortunately, you're just passing through and so many other places should just follow this example... I will 100% return! 😎❤️ Edit: 18-star breakfast 😁

01/10/2025: Highly recommended! The rooms are clean and nice. Breakfast 10/10. It's hard to improve on this! Coffee, pastries, omelettes, fresh fruit all excellent quality☺️Also the staff is very friendly.

16/12/2025: We travel from Germany to Tramin three or four times a year, and on our first evening we almost always go to the Bürgerstube restaurant because of their excellent pizza. However, their other dishes and varied daily menu are also highly recommended. The second reason we enjoy eating at the Bürgerstube is the exceptionally friendly staff.

07/12/2025: Although the place is marked on maps primarily as a hotel, we decided to stop here just for lunch. The experience was positive: welcoming atmosphere, well-prepared dishes, attentive and courteous staff, and reasonable prices. I can't rate the accommodation, but I recommend it for the food.

09/12/2025: We went for Törggelen dinner; it was a charming place...a typical, well-kept farmhouse. We ate really well, and the atmosphere was very welcoming!

12/12/2025: A lovely cabin with friendly service. It's sunny during the day and a great place to relax. Not the cheapest cabin in the ski area, but still worth it.

11/12/2025: The best mountain hut in the area. I love eating here, the portions are generous, the location is typical. But above all, the food is fantastic. Must try!
