03/05/2026: My partner and I happened upon this place by chance a few weeks ago. The entrance to the restaurant is certainly unique, yet very authentic. The owner's welcome immediately gives you a sense of warmth and authenticity, and the rest of the staff is also incredibly kind. The quality and flavor of the food are beyond words; it simply has to be experienced! Thanks to Carlo (if I'm not mistaken, that's the owner's name) for this sensational experience!
02/05/2026: The food was good, average; I wasn't impressed, but I wasn't disappointed either. The prices were definitely high (the first course was around €17-18).
The staff was very kind and helpful, which is probably its strength.
Unfortunately, the rest was nothing special: the atmosphere was dark and neglected, the glasses were all sorts of different (I dined with a cocktail glass, also used for wine), and the house wine was definitely not to be ordered.
I definitely won't be returning.

10/06/2026: We were here during the week, so it wasn't overly crowded. We were greeted very warmly by the waiters, who explained the menu and the off-menu dishes to us. We chose a mixed antipasto to share, a sirloin marinated in chimichurri (we were told the chef is of South American origins) and Umbrichelli all'Amatriciana.
Let's start with the appetizer: I enjoyed the pappa al pomodoro with anchovies, the other anchovies alone, and the bruschetta. The cheeses were also good, but as for the cured meats, they were meager. Let's be clear, they weren't awful, but they weren't anything special or up to par with the local tradition. The Umbrichelli were good, too, neither praise nor infamy, but a generous portion. I was a bit disappointed by the sirloin; you couldn't taste the marinade at all; it practically seemed sliced and cooked as is. It was a good meat, but since I couldn't taste the marinade, I can't say it lived up to the expectations given the presentation.
Desserts: coffee panna cotta and pistachio cheesecake. The former was absolutely amazing, the cheesecake was delicious.
Overall, a good experience, but nothing too bad. I was expecting something more, though. Maybe it was just a bad night, I'll try again.
10/06/2026: A very nice restaurant, found after looking at reviews of other restaurants in the area. Nice atmosphere, friendly service. The mixed antipasto was good; they also brought us a small sample of the meat timbale, which was very welcome. I wasn't particularly impressed with the cured meats. Otherwise, the food was good and reasonably priced. The coffee panna cotta was delicious.

07/01/2026: The space is spacious and clean. Despite the fire, there's absolutely no smell, which isn't a given.
The service is exceptionally polite and fast.
The meat is excellent.
The platters are delicious.
We were able to enjoy lunch with my furry friends, and we weren't the only ones.
Despite this, I repeat, everything is very clean.

The staff was friendly, and despite the restaurant being busy, they were attentive and helpful. I recommend it to everyone!!

29/05/2026: We went to Charlie tonight for the third time and it was just as amazing as we remembered it. The Risotto is a must have dish, every bite is a taste of heaven. Also had a fantastic pizza Diavola. When is Orvieto, be sure to stop here and enjoy great food, great servant great atmosphere! Reservations are recommended just to be sure you are able to get a table!

11/05/2026: We've been customers for a while, always choosing Vecchio Granaio for dinner. The food is excellent and refined, from the cheeses to the meats, not to mention the homemade first courses made by the old-fashioned ladies. The commendable courtesy is a great added value.

05/05/2026: Yesterday we had the pleasure of lunch at Ristorante Montenero, a true gem in the Amelia countryside, which this year celebrates an extraordinary milestone: 100 years in business, since 1926.
A family-run trattoria that has successfully reinvented itself in its hospitality without ever betraying its soul: that of authentic Umbrian tradition. Dishes that tell a story of authentic flavors and passion, such as the hearty and authentic handmade fettuccine with ragù, game, pan-fried chicken, stewed mutton, and coratella (a kind of lamb cutlet). All prepared with local produce and the highest-quality ingredients.
But beyond the cuisine, what truly strikes you is the atmosphere: a warm, family-friendly environment where you immediately feel at home. One of those rare places that still retains the profound sense of time-honored hospitality.
My sincere congratulations to the entire staff for preserving and passing on such an important tradition. And best wishes again on this splendid centenary!

14/06/2026: I dined there for the first time, and it lived up to our expectations. It was recommended to me by a neighbor I'd met by chance at another restaurant years ago. Julio is famous for his meat, and I can attest to that. I had an off-menu asado (recommended by the talented waitress) and an entrecôte: both were excellent. If you love grilled meat, this is a place you absolutely must try: you'll definitely be back!

07/06/2026: The Florentine steak was good, as were the gnocchi with Sagrantino wine and the truffle carbonara. The pizza was also good. Three stars for the service, which wasn't particularly attentive, but we went on a Saturday night; the place was packed, and perhaps that was why they were in a bit of a rush.
02/06/2026: We went here at the recommendation of the owner of the farmhouse where we were staying. What can I say? The food was divine, so much so that we repeated the dinner the following day, and it completely met our expectations the second time, too. The staff is also really friendly. I highly recommend the place, and when we're in the area again, we'll definitely be back!

19/05/2026: Our third year of visiting Cantiano/Gubbio and dinner is always a treat here. Hosts Elisa and Gianluca are wonderful, food is delicious, great local wines, and the staff is friendly and helpful. This year's Corso dei Ceri was too wet to attend and they played the live event feed on the TV for everyone to enjoy.

24/10/2025: It's the fourth time I've been there and as far as quality and service are concerned, there's nothing to complain about, just that (at least for my pockets) I can't afford it... spending €103.00 for 4 pizzas, 2 beers, 2 desserts and 1 coffee makes me think that it has become a place suitable for people with higher incomes than mine💁♂️
